The Meaning of Jesus The word atonement comes from sixteenthcentury English and literally means atonement. Atonement is the process of reconciliationbetween God and human beings (either on acommunal or individual basis) with the goal of
righting a wrong or injury, i.e. sin. Christians contend that the life, death, andresurrection of Jesus of Nazareth is intimately related to this process. But not all agreeon when this act of atonement happened. Join Pastor Danny in the Apple Room at 9:30 for a 4part Lenten Sunday school class: March 12 God becoming human in the Incarnation (Christ’s birth)March 19 Jesus teaching, preaching and performing miracles (Life and Teaching)March 26 Jesus dying on the cross (Crucifixion)April 2 Jesus rising from the dead (Resurrection)
