Novelist Randy Alcorn said, “He who lays up treasures in heaven looks forward to
eternity.” Treasures is the title of a new preaching series at Our Savior Lutheran Church
on Sundays, January 10-24. We will explore the question of what you are laying up in
heaven as, each week, we focus on one of the three gifts wise men presented to the Baby
Jesus. We will consider how you allow God to use your gifts as you find Jesus at work in
today’s world. Worship service times are Sundays at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

Hello and Happy New Year,
While 2020 has been an extremely difficult year for all of us, our church was blessed to be named as one of the remainder beneficiaries of the Kenneth T. O'Brien Revocable Trust. Ken
and Vi O'Brien were long time members of OSL. In mid-December we received a partial
distribution from the trust in the amount of $80,571.67. We expect to receive another
distribution but the exact amount is not known and likely won't be until January or February of 2021.
This gift from the O'Brien's will greatly help our church to replenish reserves and also to
provide support for Vision 2025.
Sincerely,
John Wheeler
Treasurer
“THE CONNECTION” —A New Name for the Newsletter—
Now that it is 2021, we felt it was the best time to rename our newsletter. After
consoling the different options with a panel of people who either had backgrounds
in editing or had expressed an interest in writing, we have come to the conclusion that the newsletter should be now titled “The Connection”. The decision was
difficult since there were so many good suggestions and we thank everyone who
participated but, in the end, we decided to go with a name that not only would best represent OSL but also one that would best convey what the newsletter was about
without being misunderstood by visitors to our church. Thanks again to everyone
who submitted their ideas, your input and creativity does not go unappreciated.

The story of the Magi is our story. God has used his supernatural means to
draw us unto himself. … On one glorious day, when we were exhausted and
wearied in our sin, God led us to gaze upon Jesus just as the Magi did. We see
the glory of God manifested through Jesus Christ in the internal work of the
Holy Spirit. We see our utter sinfulness and God’s abounding grace offered in
the Messiah. We are filled with joy as this grace sinks into our hearts.
We fall down on our knees and confess our need of this Messiah. We worship
him and offer up our lives as our greatest offering to him. Then we continue on
in our lives, carrying the truth about the Messiah.
