2012 Chapter ElectionsIn accordance with the chapter’s bylaws, every 2 years the membership gets to elect the

chapter’s board of directors. The Idaho Chapter of SCI’s Board of Directors is made up of six (6) elected Chapter Officers, three (3) elected, at-large Board members, and the two, most recent, available, past presidents of the Chapter.With the exception of the two past presidents who serve on the Board, Directors will be elected for two-year terms. Anyregular member of the Chapter shall be eligible for a position as an at-large director. Any regular member may nominatehimself or another member for any office or any at-large director’s position. Nominations will close 10 business daysprior to an election. The Chapter secretary will distribute ballots for the election every two years during:

A. the chapter’s annual fundraising banquet beginning in 2012B. the first week after the annual fundraising banquet to those not in attendance at the

banquetOnly regular members are eligible to vote in Chapter elections. In order to vote, members must:

A. return written, signed ballots to the ballot box by the end of the annual fundraising banquetB. return written, signed ballots by mail before the end of 20 business days after the night of

annual fundraising banquet. New officers and directors will take office effective July 1, 2012.

Below are a list of the Chapter Officer positions and their responsibilities. If you are interested in volunteering for a position on the Idaho SCI Board of Directors, please contact Beau Johnston at 208-241-5621.

PRESIDENT: The president shall be the chief executive officer of the Chapter and subject to the authority of the Board, shall have general leadership and guidance of the Chapter affairs. The president shall be chairman of the Board of Directors. The president shall:

1. Preside at all general meetings and all Board meetings.2. May sign legal documents and agreements as authorized by the Board.3. Prepare a meeting agenda for each general meeting and Board meeting.4. Perform all duties incident to the office of president and other duties assigned by the Board.5. Have the power to sign checks on the Chapter’s account for approved expenditures in

event that the treasurer is unavailable to draft said checks.6. Prepare a written job description as guidance for his successor.

VICE PRESIDENT: In the absence of the president, the vice present shall carry out the president’s duties. The vicepresident will normally run for the office of president following his term as vice president.

1. Perform all duties incident to the office and other duties assigned him by the Board of Directors and the president.

2. Prepare a written job description as guidance for his successor.

TREASURER: The treasurer is the chief financial officer of the Chapter. The treasurer shall: 1. Be responsible for all funds and securities of the Chapter from all sources and depositors

as the Board of Directors shall designate.2. Maintain all records of Chapter income and expenditures.3. Report on the financial condition of the Chapter at all general meetings and Board meetings.4. Assume the responsibilities of the office of president in the absence of the president and vice president.5. Perform other duties as assigned by the president and Board.6. Prepare a written job description as guidance for his successor.

SECRETARY: The secretary shall:1. Record attendance and keep the minutes of general meetings and Board meetings.2. Notify members of meetings in accordance with these bylaws or as required by law.3. Maintain a database of the Chapter membership.4. Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors or president.5. Prepare a written job description as guidance for his successor.

NEWSLETTER EDITOR:1. Serves as editor for Safari North.2. Submits the draft newsletter to the president for review and approval.3. Arranges printing and mailing of the newsletter.4. Prepare a written job description as guidance for his successor.

MEMBERSHIP CHAIR: The membership chair shall:1. Maintain a database of the Chapter membership.2. Perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors or president.3. Prepare a written job description as guidance for his successor.
