Yew Tree Gazette January 2019 Fluid Afternoon You will constantly hear staff talk about the im- portance of fluid intake throughout the day amongst themselves and with individual resi- dents, however not fully understand the reason behind this. We will be undertaking a fluid workshop on 30th January 2019 at 2.00pm. Carol will un- dertaken a small discus- sion with regards to the importance of fluids and will advise on ways to increase your fluid intake. We will also provide a selection of beverages and snacks for everyone to try. This event is available for all residents, fami- lies and staff to take part and will be held in the garden lounge. CQC Visit You may already be aware in November 2018 we received a visit from CQC inspectorate. Two inspectors visited the home and spent the day speaking to residents, family and staff. They were very happy with the care provided by the carers and nurses and the quality of the care plans. Unfor- tunately we were very disappointed to find they were un- happy with the decoration within the toilets/bathrooms and of the chipped paint on the hoists and have scored us down in this area. In response remedial works have commenced straight away in the toilets/bathrooms and John will be assisting James during the works. This does mean that some areas will be closed and we apologize for this but unfortunately this is beyond our control. We have already completed a bathroom and toilet on the ground floor and we hope you like the finished result. Fluid Afternoon You will constantly hear staff talk about the im-portance of fluid intake throughout the day amongst themselves and with individual resi-dents, however not fully understand the reason behind this.

We will be undertaking a fluid workshop on 30th January 2019 at 2.00pm. Carol will un-dertaken a small discus-sion with regards to the importance of fluids and will advise on ways to increase your fluid intake.

We will also provide a selection of beverages and snacks for everyone to try.

This event is available for all residents, fami-lies and staff to take part and will be held in the garden lounge.

Happy New Year

Welcome to your first newsletter of 2019., we hope you

had a fabulous Christmas and New Year.

We would like to take a mo-

ment to thank all of the staff

who worked hard over the

Christmas period and helped

to make the residents Christ-

mas so special you are all

number one in our eyes.

CQC Visit

You may already be aware in November 2018 we received a

visit from CQC inspectorate. Two inspectors visited the

home and spent the day speaking to residents, family and

staff. They were very happy with the care provided by the

carers and nurses and the quality of the care plans. Unfor-

tunately we were very disappointed to find they were un-

happy with the decoration within the toilets/bathrooms

and of the chipped paint on the hoists and have scored us

down in this area.

In response remedial works have commenced straight

away in the toilets/bathrooms and John will be assisting

James during the works. This does mean that some areas

will be closed and we apologize for this but unfortunately

Staff Christmas

Gifts

Every year we are astounded with the amount of gifts received for the staff and we would like to take the opportunity to say thank you from all of us. The gifts are truly ap-preciated by everyone.

Charity News

During our recent Christmas Party we raised money for the West Midlands Air Ambulance and Lifeboat association by holding a raffle and tombola. It is my great pleasure to an-nounce we raised a fabulous £124.50 during this event. We also raised £53 in our October Raffle bringing our total dona-tion raised to £177.50. Wow well done everyone and thank you to everyone who donated. This money has now been paid to both charities and the re-ceipt for the donations can be found on the reception notice-board.

On a separate note and follow-ing the success of the under cover decking and gazebo in the gardens last summer we

have been toying with the idea of purchasing a summer house for the residents and families to use. A summer house would cost between £3000 and £5000 dependent on design size etc and we have been wondering if it would be nice to raise money for the summer house throughout the year and our garden party. We were won-dering what your thoughts might be on this matter?. We have attached a little response note at the back of the news-letter which can be returned in the comments box in reception or handed in at the office.

If you have an alternative sug-gestion then we would also welcomes these.

Building and Decoration Works

During February the home will be undertaking some building works at

the rear of the property. All works will be undertaken externally and

the builders will not require access into the home. The works com-

mence on the 4th February and will take a maximum of two days.

There will be some noise during the works so we apologize for any in-

convenience this may cause.

We will also commence Decorating works from 18th February on the

ground floor corridor starting from the reception doorway through to

the garden lounge. During the works we will limit disruption to every-

one in the home however certain locations may be closed to assist the

decorator and to ensure the works are completed as swiftly as possi-

ble. Notices will be placed around the home advising residents, staff

and visitors where the decorator is working.

If you have any questions with regards to either of the works then

please speak to the office.
