“Catholic schools carry out a great mission, to serve God by building knowledge and character... By teaching the word of

God, you prepare your students to follow a path of virtue. George W. Bush

St. Rose School students were given a presentation on Thursday, Jan., 17th with Dr.

Whitney Territo. This was part of the Realeyes program sponsored by the Central

OH Ohio Optometric Association. The goal of the Realeyes program is to teach

young people about their eyes and how to protect them in a fun and educational

way. We strive to make the presentations interactive and enjoyable for all involved.

PreK and Kindergarten presentations involved a sing-a-long component.

Realeyes presentations involved a movie component. This is a link to the movie on

The Blessing of

the Throats is a

sacramental of

the Roman Cath-

olic Church, cele-

brated on Febru-

ary 3, the feast

day of Saint Blaise of Sebastes.

Devotions like walking the Sta-

tions of the Cross during Lent,

receiving ashes on Ash Wednes-

day, kissing the cross on Good

Friday and getting our throats

blessed on St. Blaise day are es-

sential parts of our Catholic line-

age. Each ceremony or ritual ex-

cites us, elevates our hearts; we

come away refreshed and with a

sense that something beyond the

ordinary has just happened, not

just to us but to thousands of the

faithful that same day in every

corner of the world. We can’t help

but know that it’s good to be

Catholic.
