O
THOUGHTS FROM BRAD As we continue with our Core Values today, Iwant to highlight our value of Ministry. AsScripture indicates, it is necessary for all parts of
the Body of Christ to serve the Lord. Each person atFACC has a gift to enhance the ministry of thischurch (1 Corinthians 12) and to bring glory to Godevery day.
Even as you were conceived in secret, God alreadymade plans for what you would do with your life(Psalm 139:15-16). No matter what vocation pathyou chose, God created you to do big things forHim. I wonder how you have done with that overthe years. Have you listened to His voice; His call?Have you disregarded His Spirits prompting as Hechallenged you to be used for glory either in thechurch or this community? Or maybe you havechosen obedience and have enjoyed the many
opportunities to make a difference. I sure hope so!Make your life count! Put your faith into action andallow God to use you to bring others to faith inChrist.
As a church, we seek to better equip you forservice. We provide you with educationalopportunities by offering Sunday school, smallgroups and elective classes. As we have stated, youhave more Bible training than most people startingand leading churches in India. What we need in

SCOTTS THOUGHTS
Over the past couple of weeks we have been lookingat John 4:24 and what it means to worship God inspirit and in truth. First we looked at the fact that this
is the only worship the Father seeks. Last week weexplored the difference between physical and spiritualfocus in our worship.
What does Jesus mean when he says we mustworship in truth? Is this a statement of doing things theright way? Is it a call for us to adhere to a specific
pattern of what we do or how we do it? If you read myarticle last week, you will probably know I dont thinkeither of those are correct.
In this passage, Jesus has gone out of his way toestablish the difference between physical and spiritual. It seems unimaginable that Jesus would tell thewoman that the location for worship doesnt matter but
here is a specific way worship has to look.
Please dont misunderstand, I am not saying that thereare no boundaries. Neither am I saying that there arenot things that are inappropriate for worship. I amsaying Truth in this passage is about us, not aboutwhat we do but about who we are and more
importantly us recognizing who God is.
I believe Jesus is calling us to true worship, to truthfulworship. When we recognize that worship is not an

Last week in Childrens Church we learned about Cainand Abel. There are many very important lessons wecan take from the story of Cain and Abel. The mainlesson we focused on is that we are to give God thebest of what he have; not just enough to get by! Thispassage is not about just our offering, but our wholelives!
Genesis 4
*To start off this New Year, I have set a goal for thegrowth of our Childrens Program. The first part ofreaching this goal is to attain a steady group ofvolunteers. I hope to have a unit of faithful volunteers to
offer their energy and one hour on Sunday morning tominister to the kids. I plan to form a schedule of twovolunteers per Sunday morning, in a rotation. So if you
join us, you will not have to miss church every Sunday. You would know in advance which Sundays you wouldbe helping out downstairs.
Please take the time to pray about this opportunity, ifyou feel like God is calling you to this ministry, pleasecontact me!

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of
Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are:
Christ-Centered WorshipWe make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through
our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesusthrough grace-based preaching and teaching & understand the
Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).
Church Health and Biblical BalanceChurch health becomes reality when God's people seek
harmony & live consistently. We expect every member toprotect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter
3:8)
Global EvangelismWe are constant to our founding call to worldwide
evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior,
Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).
Fellowship and MinistryAfter people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip
them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We wanteveryone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27)We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love
and power to the world.
DiscipleshipWe do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue
Church of Christ in Lancaster We are all about teaching you
