Stewardship Reflection

January 5, 2020 - Epiphany of the Lord

“Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh." ~Matthew 2:11

The image of the Magi kneeling before the infant Jesus and opening their treasure chests for Him is an image that we should all try to follow each day. In gratitude for all that we have been given, we are called to generously share all our gifts, not just the ones we pick and choose. God wants us to be generous with everything, but especially that one thing that means the most to us

Last Sunday we celebrated the beginning of a New Year with The Solemnity of Mary, as Mother of God. Like Mary, we are called to be people of faith and prayer, and to emulate her humility. The won-derful biblical quote made by her cousin Elizabeth to Mary, in the second mystery of The Rosary, illus-trates Mary's willingness and faith to be an instru-ment, in God's plan:

" Blessed is she who believed that the promise made to her by the Lord would be fulfilled. "

Fulton Sheen speaks these words and presents this image: "Mary is like the moon, for her light is always the reflection of a higher light."

The Prayer Group continues to meet for one hour every other week. Our next gathering will be on Thursday January 9th from 7-8 pm, in the hall. Please join us as we come together for an hour to say the Rosary, follow a power point that presents a Bishop Barron comment, some music and any prayer intentions you may have.

CIRCLES FOR RECONCILIATION Circles For Reconciliation is a non-profit, grassroots community project. The Project strives to promote recon-ciliation between indigenous and non-indigenous people in Canada. The goal is to create new relationships based on mutual recognition, mutual respect, sharing and mutual responsibility. To make this happen, the idea is to create a discussion group composed of 10 people – 5 indigenous and 5 non-indigenous; this group meets 10 times on a once a week basis for 75 minutes. One indigenous facilitator and one non-indigenous facilitator will lead the group. The goal of the discussion group is to learn and discuss a large number of issues around reconciliation. There is no cost. For more information on this project visit

www.CirclesForReconciliation.ca Mary Mother of the Church will be hosting a Circle For Reconciliation during the period Wednesday, April 22, 2020 – Wednesday, June 24, 2020 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. If you are interested in participating please contact Greg Barrett at [email protected]

Thank you everyone! We survived another crazy

busy Christmas. Thanks to everyone for your cour-

tesy to help the ushers find comfortable seating for

all! We heard several comments that it was not as

busy as last year, but it was equally busy if not

maybe even a bit more. Thank YOU for sharing the

seats beside you. Your warm Mary Mother wel-

come made the usher's job so much easier.

~Thank you from the Usher Team
