Virtue of the Week—Enthusiasm
Being filled with the Holy Spirit and eager to proclaim the Good News

the word of God with boldness.
Acts 4:31
Holy Spirit, let my heart burn with enthusiasm for the message of love
and hope contained in the Gospel. Help me share the Good News of my
faith with eagerness and joy. Amen.
Christmas Season Yes, as everyone else it may seem is taking down decorations and preparing for Valentine’s day, we are just beginning our Christmas season. Many of you know the song “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. We’ll there truly are 12 days of Christmas in our Catholic liturgical celebrations. However, in the more modern days, the church places the Feast of the Epiphany (the arrival of the magi) on the Sunday closest to January 6th. This year we will celebrate Epiphany on January 8th. January 9th, the Baptism of the Lord, is the official end of the Christmas season in our church. On that day, the Christmas décor will come down and we will return to a few weeks of Ordinary Time before Lent. As you celebrate the Christmas season this year, take time each day to do something special for someone (i.e. say a prayer, write a note, a phone call or visit, etc.). These small gifts of kindness and caring truly celebrate what the Christmas season is all about.
Liturgy Corner
Religious Education News The word epiphany comes from the Greek language. Epiphany means “to make known,” to manifest, or to shine upon. Today, the Feast of the Epiphany celebrates how Jesus was made known to the world when foreign kings (called magi or Wise Men) who studied the stars traveled far distances to honor and adore him. In many cultures this day is known as Three Kings Day with a tradition of exchanging gifts to remember and celebrate the three magi (Gaspar, Melchior, and Balthazar) giving the new born King, Jesus, their finest gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Myrrh is an incense, perfume or medicine made from Commiphora tree resin.
Frankincense is an incense or perfume made from Boswellia tree resin
