Behind the scenes of: Mr. Scrooge finds Christmas By: Ainsley Allen

! The holidays are basically over but we can’t forget what we got for Christmas. For most classes their present from Mrs. Rodger’s class was a full out low-budget production of the play Mr. Scrooge finds Christmas better known as A Christmas Carol. Mr. Scrooge finds the spirit of Christmas with a little help from Mr. Marley his dead business partner and 3 spirits of the past, present, and future. This play was well prepared and had two Scrooges, Marleys, and Solicitors. It was put on four times for classes and parents. Everything ran really smoothly and most of it is thanks to Mrs. Rodgers who casted, produced, and directed the entire play. The kids built the scenery and lines were memorized till they were showing up in dreams. Mrs. Rodgers said to us many times how she wanted the audience to see how hard her cast worked and that they did it all by themselves. I personally think we made her proud and started off the show with a surprise that was president worthy. After that, the play began and was complimented greatly. Mrs. Rodgers’ goal was for the audience to know how much of it we did by ourselves. All the cast knows that Mr. Scrooge would have never found Christmas without Mrs. Rodgers, the ghost of Christmas miracle working.

The Land of Stories By: Chris ColferBook Review By: Morgan

The Land Of Stories takes you on an adventure the minute you pick it up. Alex and Connor are twins but couldn’t be more different. Alex is hardworking and off the charts smart while Connor is a troublemaker and barely scrapes by. Then Alex and Connor’s grandma gave them their old storybook, The Land Of Stories. When Alex is looking at the book it starts to glow and then she falls in the book! Connor jumps in after her and soon they are transported to The Land Of Stories! In this fairytale

world things are a bit different… Goldilocks is a wanted fugitive, Red Riding Hood owns her own kingdom, and Queen Cinderella is about to have a baby! The only way for the twins to get out of this magical land is to conquer the Wishing Spell. Will Alex and Connor be able to get out? Read The Land Of Stories to find out!

I loved The Land Of Stories it was cleverly written and over all, an awesome book. It is pretty long but don’t be afraid to try it! The book has lots of cliffhangers at the end of the chapters. I just wanted to keep reading! This book deserves a 5 star review. I loved this book, I hope you will too!

This book is about a boy named Leo who is up in his attic and finds a book about his dad when he was thirteen. There is a family member named Roseria and she ran away for some reason. When Leo was reading his dad’s book, he finds out why Roseria ran away but his family really doesn’t like to talk about her. Leo’s younger brother Nunzio fell and cracked his head. When Leo got to his grandmas because of the incident his grandma told Leo everything about Roseria. Does Leo ever get a chance to see Roseria?

! I like this book because I can make a lot of connections to people in the story. I’d recommend this book to a lot of good readers. The book starts out slow, but as you read it gets better and better! You should read: Replay!

The One and Only Ivan By: Katherine ApplegateBook Review By: Fallon

What would it be like if you were a gorilla who had Bob the dog, Stella the elephant and Julie the janitors’ daughter, as friends.? Ivan is a gorilla. Ivan lives by himself in his domain next to Stella’s. There domains are in an arcade owned by a man named Mack. Julie taught Ivan how to draw too, but everyone says it looks like scribbles or the opposite thing Ivan is trying to

draw. Mack thinks that if he sells the paintings, that would lead to more money. Mack also puts circus shows on but not a lot of people watch them that much anymore. In one of the shows Stella hurts her left leg. So Stella has to go away for a while. ! What will happen next to Ivan, Bob the dog, Stella and all of the other lovable characters? Read the 2013 Newbery Medal winner! ! !

Student Council Update!By: Ainsley

! Students Council has completed a project that helped families with sick children. Imagine if you had a child who was sick and you lived seven hours away from a hospital that would cure them? It would be really hard to move away from family and friends. That is where the Ronald McDonald House comes in. This house lets families with sick children stay there for as long as they like for a very little price. Student Council organized a project so OFIS collected food and supplies needed by the Ronald McDonald House. All the food and supplies donated by this project will go to the Ronald McDonald House to help them save money on buying food and supplies for the many visitors each day. ! This project was a battle against the lunch periods. Which team lunch period collected the most food and supplies? The third lunch period or the Yellow Team donated the most item! This competitive fundraiser helped show everybody’s school spirit and help donate from the heart.

What’s Your Favorite Cartoon Character?BY: Allison and Kim

We went around the school and asked people what their favorite cartoon character was. These were our results!

We did some research on some of our characters that were in our survey!Mickey Mouse was created in 1928 by Walt Disney and UB Lwerks at the Walt Disney studio. The Looney Toons is a Warner Bros series, that characters included: Daffy Duck, Buggs Bunny, Porky Pig, and Tweety Bird. Tom and Jerry is notable for winning seven Academy Awards, tying with Walt Disney’s Silly Symphonies.

After School GymBy: Mia

! Girls after school gym is run by Mr. Englehart. In after school gym, we play dodgeball, kickball, basketball and all of other sports. I like after school gym because Mr. Englehart does a lot of funny things like chase people and lets us pick our teams. The girls are nice and great teammates. I’m really glad I joined this club!

Sports SectionOlmsted Falls Girl Volleyball Team

By: Mia! The Olmsted Falls volleyball team has great coaches, Coach Moses and Coach Urban. We improved from last year, we could barley get the ball over at the first practice. Every girl on the tens team feels like a sister to me. The team truly does love to play volleyball and be together. Last year our coach, Coach Moses, requested that to be on the team, you have to go to Olmsted Falls schools. Wish us luck this year at our tournament!!

The Olmsted Falls Lacrosse TeamBy: Sean D.

I think YOU should start thinking about joining the Olmsted Falls Lacrosse Team!!! There are two lacrosse teams that play for Olmsted Falls, they are bantom that goes from third to fourth grade, and the next team is the youth team which ranges from fifth to sixth grade. The equipment you need is a simple lacrosse stick, helmet, chest protector, padded gloves,

and elbow pads. ALWAYS GOTTA BE SAFE!! Lacrosse starts in the spring, and there is still time to sign up! I hope you will sign up for the Olmsted Falls lacrosse team!!!

It’s All About Softball!By: Kayla Kippes

Last year, 15 amazing girls came together and made an unstoppable softball team. I was on that softball team and I loved the group of girls that were on the team. We played in a league called Emerald Necklace and became league champs and tournament runner-ups. We worked together by knowing where to make the next

play in the field and cheering each other on when we were hitting homeruns and running the bases. This year, the girls are in 12u and are getting ready for their big season.

! Wish these girls luck and maybe you will end up seeing them on the Olmsted Falls High School Varsity team. Or maybe even you will see them on your TV at home playing some college ball!
