Boozhoo, my name is Jason Wilson and I am asking for your support and your vote in the upcoming Rainy River First Nations elections. I’m running for Chief. I’m running because I truly believe I can be of service to the people of Rainy River. I have a reputation for honesty, helping and hard work. Let me work for you. Community First- The people of Rainy River First Nations will come first. They will be consulted first and informed first about any actions and issues that can affect our community. The concerns of community member wills receive first attention. Concerns I’ve heard included: Housing- Repaired and made safe for all families. Infrastructure- We need good infrastructure; Roads, bridges, water and sewer. Band Membership- Establish RRFN Enrollment standardization process for all members, Provide outreach services to all off reserve members through liaisons. Ensure all members will receive all information, forms, news etc. they need in a timely manner. Education- Provide quality education support and enhancement for all Rainy River First Nations members going to school. Enhance financial support for sport participation, extra curricular activities. Youth- Establish the Rainy River First Nations Youth Council and rely on this council to lead in creating expanded opportunities for the youth. Elders- Seek the guidance of elders in all matters and firmly support the Rainy River First Nations Elder committee. Health- Ensure quality assistance is provided to members who need help in achieving a

Traditions- Language preservation and strong support for our cultural traditions and practices will be strongly supported and enhanced. Band Membership- Establish a standard process for Rainy River First Nations membership enrollment. Off-Reserve Members- Provide outreach to all off-reserve members through liaison staff. Education- Enhance support for academic and athletic activities for students from Rainy River First Nations. Increase support for post-secondary students. Youth- Establish Rainy River First Nations Youth Council, which will lead in creating opportunities for youth. Elders- Seek the guidance of Elders in all matters and firmly support the Manitou Rapids Elders Committee. Health- Ensure quality assistance is provided to members who need help in achieving a healthy lifestyle. Accountable Governance- The Chief and Council will inform community members about council business and hold meetings in a public forum. Monthly council meeting minutes will be published in each community newsletter.

Elections- A volunteer committee of community members will research and create the best method of guaranteeing open, fair elections. This method will then be used. Traditions- Language preservation and support for cultural traditions and practices will be strongly enhanced.
