and Subtraction within 20
Subject Unit title
This half term we build on our place value knowledge to 20 and skills of addition and subtraction to 10 by moving on to adding and subtracting within 20. Children will do this practically using concrete manipulatives, pictorially and in a more abstract way by working with numbers.
Objectives
● Represent and use number bonds and related subtraction facts within 20.● Read, write and interpret mathematical statements involving addition (+), subtraction (−) and equals (=) signs. ● Add and subtract one-digit and two digit numbers to 20, including zero. ● Solve one step problems that involve addition and subtraction, using concrete objects and pictorial representations, and
missing number problems such as 7 = ꙱ – 9.

Linked to our Science work and following observations made at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, children will use clay to create an animal sculpture.
