I have been working in the IT industry for the past nine years working on

both simple and complex projects that have lasted anywhere from a few

days to a few months. I have a proven ability to provide training and

support to clients and team members while providing easy to understand

This was a large project that I worked on at Fairfax, taking six months from concept to launch. It is a companion site to Domain, designed for properties over five acres. The backend was developed

externally and I worked as the project manager and front end developer on this project. It was my job to ensure the design could be translated to the backend and that the backend developers

understood the design. Jquery was used extensively throughout this site, and CakePHP was used to develop the backend. After the launch of the site I was required to make some changes to the

backend on occasion when there was something that needed to be done urgently when we couldn't wait for the external developers. I had to learn a bit of CakePHP to do this, so I'd say I know

enough to read what most of the code does but not enough to code a project using this framework.

DomainRural

FarmonlineLivestockFarmonlineLivestock was another large project completed at Fairfax. It was designed

to be a directory for sheep and cattle studs to list their animals and upcoming sales.

Again I worked as the front end developer and project manager for the project which

was built in CakePHP also. The site pulls in news articles from the regional

newspapers using an API.

HuRDThis was a HR system for a local company. I chose to use the PHP framework Laravel,

Bootstrap for the front end development and Jquery for interactivity. The company

employed both visa holders and Australian citizens, so depending on the type of

employees they were, different information needed to be displayed. I also implemented

a simple user role system where each user was given a level of permission to view

certain areas of the system. This was the floor managers weren’t able to see the HR

notes and helped protect data integrity by ensuring people couldn’t change data they

didn’t have permission to view. One of the main functions was to enable easy

timesheet recordings. The company usually had between 400 and 500 employees at

one time, so it was essential that they have an easy to use and accurate system to log

the employee’s hours as even a small margin of error added up to a lot of money when

spread over the entire company. In fact we discovered when testing the new system by

comparing it to the old that the old system had been recording the times incorrectly

resulting in the company paying their employees more. The timesheet recording made

extensive use of AJAX calls so that data could be added without having to refresh the

page.

Eartags WarehouseI’ve worked with Jane from Allstock for over six years and various websites, so when it came time to upgrade her ecommerce sites I had a deep understanding of what she needed and what would

be best for her. The two ecommerce sites that I built for her are eartags.com.au and cattletags.com.au. We worked on eartags.com.au first, and I had to do some research into what would be the

best option for what Jane wanted to achieve. The site sells ear tags to sheep and cattle studs, but no two orders would be the same so each product needed to be able to be easily customisable. In

the end I developed a solution using Wordpress, Woocommerce, Gravity Forms and Advanced Custom Fields.

Each product could have up to three lines of printing on two sides, with prices incrementing when my printing was added. To achieve the desired outcome I used Advanced Custom Fields to define

price points for each product on the backend, and used Jquery to build a drop down list on the front end depending on what sort of printing was allowed for that product. The user would then select

that they want, for example, 2 Lines 1 Side, which would then display the form fields for each line of printing using Gravity Forms conditional logic.

One of the issues that needed to be overcome at the start of the project was the data migration from the old CMS into Wordpress. To do this I had to create a MYSQL script to export the product

data in such a way as I could then import it into Wordpress to suit Woocommerce. Since making the switch to Woocommerce from the old CMS the client has improved their sales month over month,

and now averages $50000 in sales for each site each month.

Gwydir Shire CouncilBingara is a small town in NSW within the Gwydir Shire, and they approached me about

redoing their tourism website. The town relies heavily on its tourism, so it was important that

the new Bingara website be both responsive and accessible. Working closely with the website

manager, I came up with a design to showcase the two most important aspects of the site; the

news and the events. This was another site where I needed to migrate content from an existing

site across to the new format in Wordpress.

RapidPlasRapidPlas are a national tank manufacturer that has dealers all over the country. They needed

a new website as part of a digital push to help their dealers sell more of their products, so it

was essential that the site be fast and responsive, and adapt to any device. One of the features

of the site is a an accordion that I built using Jquery to showcase all of the colour options

available for the tanks. This way their dealers could direct people to the website and get them

to view the colours available for that product so they could see if they had any in stock.
