MISSIONJeffco EDC’s mission is to strengthen the economic vitality of Jefferson County through the creation, retention and expansion of primary jobs.
Recently, Jeffco EDC embarked on many new projects and initiatives to elevate its efforts in attracting, expanding, and retaining primary employers. Some of these include: developing foreign direct investment strategies to market the county abroad; expanding the county’s Enterprise Zone boundaries to encourage economic activity; focusing on an additional target industry (beverage production) to help strengthen and grow the cluster; hosting industry roundtables for existing businesses, and much more. Through these efforts, we have increased prospect activity and business outreach significantly. We have also elevated our prominence and engagement with the broader Colorado community, and have been successful with many national and international projects that are creating primary jobs in the county.
In 2016, Jeffco EDC’s Board of Directors took significant steps to restructure the organization, setting it on a course for continued success in serving its members. The board leadership made a commitment to identify the most effective structure for the organization, and determined it was important to evaluate the organization, with emphasis on stakeholder interests, strategic goals, and the governance structure. After a thorough organizational assessment, our consultants provided recommendations based on feedback and input from key stakeholders. From these recommendations and discussions at the annual retreat, the Governance Committee was formed to develop a proposed structure for the organization. Also, the Government Affairs Committee developed a plan to strengthen its impact in taking a more proactive role advocating for a positive business climate. Additionally, the board underwent an extensive recruitment process to identify the organization’s new leadership. In December 2016, the board appointed Sam Bailey as Jeffco EDC’s new President & CEO.
Jeffco EDC remains committed to working with its investors and community partners, to ensure that the business climate remains healthy by providing ample employment opportunities, a solid tax base, and a vibrant quality of life in Jefferson County, Colorado.
