CARING—OUR WAY OF LIFE
JOHN DEWEY HS KEY CLUB
2
A WORD FROM YOUR PRESIDENT
Hello, all fellow Key Club members!
This year sure went by fast, with just a few months to go,
some of you will be heading off to college while others will continue
with their high school years. I like to thank each and everyone one of
you for your commitment and hours of service performed in Key
Club which helped better our homes, schools and communities over
the course of the 2011-2012 service year. I would also like to thank all
Board Officers and Committee Chairmen for their endless hours of
dedication to Key Club, and Division 9 Lieutenant Governor Helen
Chen for providing guidance and always being supportive of every
club in the division. Last but not least, our faculty advisor: Mrs. Kaplan;
who, despite her busy schedule as the school’s assistant principal;
spent months working with all board officers to create more opportu-
nities for members to experience the best of Key Club.
Approaching the end of the school year also means elect-
ing our incoming board officers for the year of 2012-2013. Choosing
leaders who are capable and are prepare to face the year with a
fresh start with ambitious goals is essential and this is one of the
contributing factors which will affect how successful the club will
be. In this issue, the potential candidates will be listed, if you see
them around in school, feel free to ask them questions pertaining
to Key Club and see how they’ll respond to you!
Finally, thanks once again for your year-long of service!
SUMMER IS JUST ‘ROUND THE CORNER, KEEP THE KEY CLUB SPIRIT
GOING AND GOOD LUCK ON ALL YOUR EXAMS!
Yours in Service,
Lauren Chan
JDHS Key Club President

ENJOYED THE
LTC? GIVE NEW
YORK DISTRICT
SOME FEEDBACK
BY TAKING THIS
SURVEY. :D
I was one of the few members from John Dewey High School who attended the LTC this year.
This was my first year going to the LTC and I had a lot of fun and learned a lot. From how to run the club
efficiently to how to encourage the members to be more active. My fellow member and I were at many
workshops that taught us how to be socially communicative with members not only in person but online
also like Facebook and etc… For people like myself who are running for office in their own club, they
had workshops with officers and former officers teaching us how to do our jobs correctly, and efficiently.
Key Club International is one of the biggest organizations in the world that brings kids together to help
other kids, animals and families in third world countries, and together we help fight diseases. At this year’s
LTC I’ve met many very nice people who are all very passionate about key club. Not only did we have
fun during the day but at night too. We attended parties where everyone just let loose and danced and
bonded. The food at the LTC was amazing, and our advisors were nice, caring, and understanding. They
helped us with whatever we needed help on. On the last night LTC held an award ceremony to honor
those who were outstanding during the year, and also they announced the new District Governor, in my
experience this was one of the most fun conventions I’d ever been to.

MEMORIES TO TREASURE!
On the day of the clean-
up, we gathered some vol-

and shovels we strolled

day, the neighborhood
