Dainik Bhaskar Group
Description of the Initiative
Junior Editor was conceptualized to enable students to better understand the role
and nuances of journalism and news reporting that impacts everyone’s lives
everyday’.
Newspaper reading should not be limited to hard news, therefore we pushed the
boundaries and brought reality and imagination face to face with out-of-box thinking
in terms of news of the future, cartoon caricatures, obituary of a tiger and a sparrow,
time travel to fix the past, matrimonial of an elephant and a mouse, soap
advertisement- which can wash-off corruption and other social-ills from society.
We also wanted to sensitize the participants and their family about various socio-
economic concerns as well, like, the importance of elders in our families, prevalent
malpractices of child labor and the value of a vote to build a strong and democratic
nation.
Project Conceptualization
Under this project, all the participants were given a blank newspaper template/kit of
12 pages with instructions in four languages; Hindi, English, Marathi and Gujarati.
The current programme was the season 2 of the highly acclaimed Junior Editor 2011,
