TREE PLANTING!!
BY JEAN
Introduction
On Monday the 19th of August we went to Tamaki reserve to plant trees. We had a lot of fun and our total of the trees we planted were 227. There were a lot of worms and one of us even broke a spade!
Worms, worms, worms!
There was lots of worms at Tamaki reserve. Even though worms are squiggly and slimy, they make the soil healthy. So we collected all the worms we could see to put in our holes for our trees.
Richard the instructor
At Tamaki reserve we had to go down a steep hill. When we arrived at the bottom of the hill the instructor, Richard, showed us how to plant the trees properly.
Spacing out the trees
When we planted the trees, we had to find a yellow dot to dig on. We did that because we didn’t want the field to get too dense when the trees grew big.
Picking on the roots
After we dug the hole and got the plant out of the plastic pot, we picked out the roots to make them grow deep and strong into the soil.
Total of the planted trees
The total of the trees we had planted was 227. We collected all the plastic pots that were left on the ground after planting the trees. Jayden C even snapped a shovel while digging on the ground!
Conclusion
We had a lot of fun planting the trees at Tamaki reserve. Even though we were tired and grubby, we loved it at Tamaki reserve, and wish to do it again.
