Working at the On Air Production, OAP department at VH1 India was an incredible experience for me as I was able to practice us-ing Illustrator and was able to learn a few tricks on After Effects whilst making an ID for the VH1 logo formation. The ID was based around the idea of a rubik cube explosion. I was in charge of the look, feel and sound and that great responsibility and added pressure helped me create something I am proud of.

I also worked on creating new Aston Bands (where the artist information is shown during music videos). I drew inspiration from origami and folded paper. The large image on the left is my graphic for the ‘Explode ID’, above you can see images of the Aston band idea and on the left you can see my Illustrator canvases.

The film opens on a 22-year-old guy staring at his wall with tonnes of photos of cars. You see him flipping through another car magazine and tearing a page and putting another one on the wall. You see him looking at the options in a very confused way.

Cut to a young guy in his mid 20s at a store, trying out different sunglasses and is unable to make up his mind. You see a sales guy holding ten in his hand. The young guy looks very confused.

Cut to a young woman in her late 20s, at a Nail Spa and staring endlessly at the choice of nail colors. The lady looks very confused.

Cut to a shot of a family in a supermarket,

In contrast, you see them aimlessly filling up their shopping trolley.

Super fades in: If only we would give as much attention to what goes inside us.

You see a zoomed in shot of the GDA label.

Cut to zoomed in shots of the GDA label on different products.

Cut back to the supermarket where the mother turns and picks up a product, adjusts her glasses to clearly read the GDA label.

Super: Pay attention to what goes inside too. Take a moment to read the GDA label.

AUDIO

Very evocative music.

If only we would give as much attention to what goes inside us.

With the new Guideline Daily Amount label on most products, you can now find out how much calorie and key nutrients is inside your favourite foods and drinks.

So you can enjoy the right amount for yourself, and your loved ones!

Pay attention to what goes inside too. Take a moment to read the GDA label.

Food needs your attention too.

Wunderman is part of the WPP and working for such a large agency was a wonderful and enriching experience. The page on the left is an identity design that I designed for Yas Marina, Abu Dhabi along with the stationary. It was for a pitch and my design helped win the pitch as it was selected by the client.

This page features the works I did for Mars (Gal-axy). Above is the idea that I came up with for a TVC to promote the introduction of the GDA label in the Middle East. I was also instrumental in creating a Ramadan inspired wrapping paper for Galaxy Jewels. The image over layered on top is the graphic I designed for the freezer inspired by melting ice cream with caramel.

The Landmark Group has been a pioneer in fashion footwear retailing in the Middle East & India. With a host of international franchise brand names under its portfolio, such as Kurt Geiger, Valencia, Via Uno, Ecco, Pablosky, Carpisa, Fabi, Loriblu, Dumond, etc; the Group has established itself as an industry leader in the footwear segment. Over the last quarter, the Group has added yet another feather in its cap, with the acquisition of the Middle East retail franchise for Steve Madden, America’s most popular shoe designer.

“Last summer, my husband, Tony, and I were at a neighbourhood barbecue when he launched into a story about one of the contractors who’d worked on our house,” says Suzanne Man, who has been married for 18 years. “We found the guy passed out in our basement one day, surrounded by empty beer Steve Madden, a fashion footwear brand from the U.S. is the ninth br and to fall under the umbrella of the Shoe M art International footwear division. The company has ambitious plans for the brand. Positioned as a bridge between hi-street and luxury, the brand will target women between 16-40 years and will offer a cutting-edge range of fashion forward, of-the moment designs across footwear and a v ariety of accessories.

Confident in making the br and a success, the Group has already opened Steve Madden stores at The Dubai Mall and Mall of the Emirates in the UAE. By the end of the month S teve Madden stores will open four more stores, including stores in Al Wahda Mall and Centrepoint Marina in Abu Dhabi, Al Jimi Mall in Al Ain, UAE and Asmakh Mall in Qatar. Manu Jeswani, CEO - Shoe Mart said, “Landmark Group is excited to bring S teve Madden to the Gulf as the desi gner intended. Ranges are upto-date with Steve Madden’s signature lines, and the Group has invested a lot into the new store layouts to ensure that they match the high energy of the U.S stores. Initial response to the brand has exceeded all expectations and we are very confident that the brand’s phenomenal success in the U.S will be echoed here in the UAE and surrounding markets”.

collection. The Steve Madden team flew down to Dubai to be part of the launch celebrations. Gabriella Weiser, Marketing Director, Steve Madden U.S, said, “This is an exciting time for Steve Madden and we are delighted to have a formidable trusted local partner in Landmark Group to ensure the brand’s success. SteveMadden himself explains that his inspiration comes from pounding the pavement all over the world. The Gulf represents a very fashionconscious, youthful and important market, with a lot of growth potential for the brand”. In 1990, Steve Madden founded the namesakebrand in his hometown of New York City. Swiftly following his intuition, Madden began creating the next big trend, anticipating consumer needs and subsequently delivering collections that were both cutting-edge and highly saleable. In his New York-based factory, Madden channeled lot of growth potential for the brand”.

These pages feature more work that I did during my summer internship at Wunderman. The left page features graphics that I did for Mashreq Bank’s campaign ‘The Big Push’.

This page (from left to right) features @home emailers, Sweet Lane brochure design and Landmark group’s newsletter design, above. The Landmark group’s newsletter was also for a pitch and again, my design helped win the pitch for Wunderman.

As a young girl growing up, it was always my dream to be featured in Vogue, but as I grew older I discovered that instead of being featured in Vogue I could work for them. The experience at Vogue was my first experience with publishing and print.

Working in the art department was fantastic experience as I worked directly under the Art Director on the October issue, which is their largest issue as it is their anniversary issue. I was in charge of laying out all the RSVP pages. Above are the scans of my first printed work as well as my letter of recommendation.

Acceptance, Respect and Love these are the three words that SFS, Special Families Support Group stand for (www.sfs-group.net). The basic idea behind the logo was to use three smiley faces to represent each motto because you can’t love somebody unless you accept them for who/what they are. So it is essentially three people in the world together, you notice the smile, not the tilt which symbolizes the special person.

The support group stared in 1999 and this was the first brand identity that I ever designed. People have now begun to associate SFS with three simple, yet effective smiley faces.

SFS has branched well beyond of the UAE and now touches lives in Bahrain, Chennai, Mumbai... The poster on the left is the latest graphic work that I designed for their upcoming play.

like a ‘J’. On the back of my stationary and the inside lining of my envelope is an abstract representation of crumpled and stacks of paper. I used this as I wanted to show how the paper clip in the front is man-aging and holding all these pieces to-gether, a metaphor of how I am a good multi-tasker, much like the paperclip.

The logo is inspired by a paperclip because I liked the metaphor behind its symbol. Its main function is to link papers together in a simple and effective manner. I added a drop shadow to the monochrome logo to add a bit of depth and to make it look more realistic. Rather designing a regular paperclip, I simplified it to look

Uchi means home in Japanese but the word directly translates to inside. The theme of my exhibition concept for uchi is to create the illusion of a Japanese home within the gallery space, which is split into 4 main sections: the Zen garden, the porch, the living space and ‘enlightenment zone’. The main idea for the viewers to experience life in a Japanese home from the ‘inside’ of the Design Museum, but the lighting will increase as viewers move towards the end of the exhibition where there will be a light installation in the ‘enlightenment zone’ - a place where viewers can meditate and reflect.

The logo is constructed out of a circular repetition pattern which represents the pattern made using a Zen rake in sand. The four circles interlink to outline the shape of a flower that symbolizes nature, tranquility, symmetry and peace. The beige colour on the bottom circle is the Japanese word uchi.

Left Page: The main task for this project was to make sure that I visually represented the three genres of Shakespeare plays and showed the audience that they have been adapted into modern day settings. I instantly thought of how the genres would make the audience feel and decided that using X-Rays was the most suit-able way of showing how the comedies affect your mood (smile), histories are about bones (Archaeology) and memory (brain) and Tragedies hit you right at the heart (chest). The rest of the poster has a very simple and minimalist layout. I referred to the Barbican branding guidelines and used their font, spacing, sizes etc.

This Page: DK’s sales have been dropping drastically which made them think towards adapting their brand with the current technologies. HumanBio for iPad10 would just be pushing their information a step further allowing readers or should I say ‘explorers’ the freedom to focus on certain parts of their bodies by simple pointing towards it or zooming in on the hologram of the human body with the DK HumanBio for iPad10 (using a motion sensor like the Xbox Kinect ). The main idea is to use all your senses to learn and expe-rience the human body by cutting parts open, zooming in, revealing layers and hearing what it actually sounds like inside us. It is a sleek way of accessing all the relevant and up-to-date information about the human body, diseases and maybe even possible cures and treatments.

Page 18: Jenai Portfolio
Page 19: Jenai Portfolio

When the brief for the three dimensional type project was handed to me, I was so eager to start the project... making our favourite song lyrics three dimensional was initially a very daunting task but once I chose the lyrics from Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, everything just fell into place. The reason I chose these par-ticular lyrics, is because I have fond memories associated with this song, especially with the lines: “Galileo, Galileo, Galileo figaro magnifico!”.

The concept for this project was to create a shadow with the type, so I used foam board and card to make the letters stand up and a strong light to create the shadows. The ascending font size and the narrow light is meant to represent the telescopic shape.

Vegetarian vs. Non-Vegetarian12.40

If slaughterhouses had glass walls the whole world would be vegetarian. The human body has no more need for cows’ milk than it does for dogs’ milk, horses’ milk, or giraffes’ milk.

Vegetarian - that’s an old Indian word meaning lousy hunter. I think that if a person wants to re-main vegetarian, they’re just going to have to go hungry.

The page on the left has examples of the Vegetarian Society’s current cam-paign... Right, how the campaign ac-tually works. As you can see they are pretty grey and boring, there is noth-ing exciting about them, even the text which says:

” Every lunchtime I order pie and two veg, and until now I had absolutely no idea. Thanks to the Vegetarian Society, I now know that fish are not vegetables. Vegetarians don’t eat animals, birds or fish. To find out more contact the Veg-etarian Society on 0161925200 or visit www.vegsoc.org/fish”

The adverts are unoriginal and are aes-thetically not pleasing either... My con-cept for a new adverts for the vegetarian society feature opinion filters with over-laid green and red text with opinions and facts about being a vegetarian and the harmful effects of non-vegetarians such as factory farming. It could be applied in a magazine/billboard/leaflet/website etc. Liz said she was very impressed with this idea and would actually con-sider using this campaign provided it isn’t too expensive.

There are innumerable health benefits of eating meat, to say, for example, it serves as a fabulous source of high quality proteins, which a single vegetarian food is not able to provide. It contains all the essential amino acids that the body requires.

Vegetarian vs. Non-Vegetarian12.10

We were asked to research a sub-topic of anything to do with ‘The Way We Eat, so being a vegetarian I immediately decided to research Vegetarianism... I looked at the reasons why people choose to become a vegetarian includ-ing: spiritual, religious, health and moral. When I was asked to come up with my own brief for this project I decided to look at the UK’s Vegetarian Society and ask them if they had any design require-ments. However, as they are not too active within the society I decided to re brand the society as I feel the logo, web site and advertisements do not suit the motive behind the society.

I was in touch with the founder of the society, Liz and she was a great help as she gave me constant feedback on the designs I was sending her - it was like working with a live client. This page shows the various logo options I sent to Liz, she replied back saying that the Vegetarian Society of the UK is focused more on the letter ‘V’ rather than ‘VS’ and she liked the logo above as she feels the curve of the V with that font was most similar to their existing logo. She liked the use of the strong green and the leaf pattern which immediately tells the audience it is green, eco-friend-ly and a vegetarian society compared to their rather ambiguous current logo.

v vThis ‘greater than / less than’ idea was the other advertising campaign that I sent to the Vegetarian Society... The feedback that I received for this cam-paign was not pleasant as Liz felt that this could be perceived as ‘non-vege-tarians are stronger/better than vegetar-ians’ .

This was not the motive behind the concept, the basic idea behind this was the use a simple mathematics term that we are all familiar with - the crocodile mouths and make them go head to head as there is a huge debate regard-ing the contentious issue of the reasons behind being a vegetarian, its health benefits moral value etc. With both campaigns I wanted to audi-ence the get the idea that being a veg-etarian is a choice as I didn’t want to oppose anything onto them however, I hope they make the ‘right/green choice.

Researching the different reasons people convert to vegetarianism such as religious, health and moral lead to the Vegetarian Society of London. As I was in contact with Liz, the founder of the society I decided to help them out by re branding them. She said that as their current logo focused on the letter V, inspired by the universal symbol of vegetarianism. I used a bright green leaf background as it immediately spells out a green, eco-friendly and vegetarian society as opposed to their rather ambiguous current logo.

The greater than/ less than idea was inspired by the great debate of vegetarianism vs. non-veg-etarianism. I used a simple mathematical term we are all familiar with but I added a subliminal message with the colours. We tend to associ-ate red with wrong and green with right so on some level this should affect the way the audi-ence perceives the campaign.

The second campaign I came up with used opinion filters to portray both sides of the story in an innovative way. The green text is the vegetarian opinion and the red is the non-veg-etarian. Both texts are overlaid on each other and depending on the opinion the audience is interested in they can use a filter.

Vegetarian vs. Non-Vegetarian12.20

As I was re branding the Vegetarian Society it was important for me to re-design their letter head and envelope. I started by de constructing a regu-lar envelope and looking at the way it folds and fits together, which is when it dawned on me that by making the envelope and the letter head two differ-ent entities I was wasting paper and as the Vegetarian Society wants has many ‘green’ initiatives I came up with a de-sign for the letter head and envelope that is double sided which enables them to use just one sheet of paper for the two purposes.

I would envision this paper to be recy-cled paper, maybe with a slight texture. These pages show the front and back net of this design.

Hib/MenC Booster

How does a booster work?

The Hib/MenC booster contains components of the bacteria that cause the diseases it protects against.

If your child has had vaccinations against these diseases before, the boosters increase their immunity to protect them in the future.

If your child comes into contact with these germs, the antibodies their body produces after vaccination will fight the infection to stop the disease taking hold.

IntroductionThe Hib/MenC vaccine boosts your child's protection against two different diseases:• Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib)• Meningitis C (MenC) infections• Hib and MenC infections are both serious and can

both cause meningitis (infection of the membrane surrounding the brain) and septicaemia (blood poisoning).

Who should have itThe Hib/MenC is a booster vaccination given to children shortly after their first birthday (see Hib/MenC - when it is needed). It boosts the protection your child gets from the first course of Hib vaccine when they are 8, 12 and 16 weeks old (see the Health A-Z topic about DTaP/IPV/Hib), and the MenC vaccine when they are 12 and 16 weeks (see the Health A-Z topic about MenC vaccination). This boosted immunity lasts into adulthood.

About the vaccineThe Hib/MenC vaccine is inactivated. This means it does not contain any live organisms so there is no risk of catching the diseases against which it protects. There is no mercury (thiomersal) in Hib/MenC.

How effective is this vaccine? The Hib/MenC booster is highly effective and protects

Vaccine Care is a part of the NHS Choices website where parents are able to access lots of information about vaccines and post vaccine care, however very few parents are actually aware of the dangers of vaccines and blindly trust the medical industry without blinking an eye. My sister was injured after her DPT vaccine and so I designed this app to help parents with a step by step guide on vaccine care.

Families are able to load information about all their children. Depending on their medical his-tory and age the vaccine schedule reminds par-ents to take their children for booster vaccines and even lets them book appointments at their local NHS using the app. There is all the relevant information about each vaccine with photos and videos for those who prefer visual data.

Post vaccine care: once the parents have taken their children to get their vaccines the app al-lows you to check their temperature regularly, to click and send photos of any unusual rashes directly to your clinic and also takes videos of your child whilst sleeping (triggered with any extra movement) and alerts you if your children is getting a febrile convulsion (email/phone/alarm).

With the current rise of social media and web forums this app also allows you to discuss each vaccine with other parents using a video con-ference and doctors around the globe so that parents are able to make an informed decision before vaccinating. There is also a written forum for those who prefer written rather than verbal communication.
