PLANNING AND MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR DOUBLE WALL EXHAUST GAS SYSTEMS
1.0 Introduction The jeremias double wall chimneys and exhaust gas systems are designed for a wide field of applications. We have systems for all regular firing installations as well as for drying-, industry plants and ventilating systems, air heater, ovens, open fireplaces and tile stoves. Due to the multitude of different system components it is possible to construct many different mounting situations. The double wall jeremias systems mark out through the simple handling and thus short installation periods. The systems consist basically of a 0.4/0.5 mm strong outer layer made of stainless steel AISI 304 (DIN 1.4301), a high-strength mineral wool insulation (standard insulation strength 24 mm) as well as a 0.4/0,5 mm strong interior layer made of high-corrosion resistant stainless steel AISI 304 / AISI 316L (DIN 14301 / DIN 1.4571 - 1.4404). The wall thickness of the outer layer guarantees a high bending and buckling resistance and thus a high bulding height without intermediate supports. The surface of the outer layer is standard bright finished (IIID). Other surfaces can be delivered on request, eg. mat, brushed, coated or covered with copper. The insulating mats between the layers are pressed very strong. Due to this type of assembly the heat transfer is excluded of the exhaust gas leading pipe to the carrying exterior pipe. The interior pipe which has contact with the exhaust gas consists of stainless steel AISI 304 / AISI 316L (DIN 14301 / DIN 1.4571 - 1.4404). All longitudinal seams are TIG gas-shielded welded and passivated. Thus the highest possible corrosion resistance is given.

3.0 Brief summary / wording for biddings
3.1 SYSTEM dw eco: Double wall insulated chimney- or rather exhaust gas system made of stainless steel, brand jeremias. Components of the system dw-eco 316 are identic, the different system identifications are due to the different fields of application. Through insertion of a three-lip sealing into a spreaded male plug-in connection the system is positive pressure tight. (P1, Maximum admissible positive pressure 200 Pa. Maximum admissible working temperature 200°C) Chimney- or rather exhaust gas systems made of industrial produced, double wall stainless steel system components for attaching on the veneer, for mounting into buildings with or without ductworks which correspond to the fire prevention. Exhaust gas system made of highly-alloyed, austenitic stainless steel AISI 316L (DIN 14301 / DIN 1.4571 - 1.4404 - 14539) longitudinal seams are gas-shielded welded and passivated TIG welding system. The production is external controlled by an independent testing laboratory; the observance of constant performance is assured by self-monitoring. The systems dw-eco 316 (T600 N1 D) are applicable for connection on conventional firing installations, for exhaust gas which accure through combustion of gas, fuel oil EL or solid fuels (timber, coke, peat, carbon). System for dry operation mode, conduction of the exhaust gas in negative pressure wit a maximum admissible constant temperature of 600°C, tested with a temperature of 1000°C in the soot resistance test. Interior layer consisting of a 0.4/0.5 mm strong stainless steel AISI 316L (DIN 14301 / DIN 1.4571 - 1.4404) exterior layer consisting of a 0.4/0.5 mm strong stainless steel AISI 304 (DIN 1.4301). The

material strength offers optimal safety against bending and buckling and the connection of the single elements follows by plug-in connections and locking bands against scrolling and shifting. The systems dw-eco 316 (T450 N1 D) are applicable for connection on conventional firing installations, for exhaust gas which accure through combustion of gas, fuel oil EL or solid fuels (timber, coke, peat, carbon). System for dry operation mode, conduction of the exhaust gas in negative pressure wit a maximum admissible constant temperature of 450°C, tested with a temperature of 1000°C in the soot resistance test. Addicionally testet in a fully enclosed arrangement specified in BS EN 1859:2000 including ventilated fire-stops Interior layer consisting of a 0.4/0.5 mm strong stainless steel AISI 316L (DIN 14301 / DIN 1.4571 - 1.4404) exterior layer consisting of a 0.4/0.5 mm strong stainless steel AISI 304 (DIN 1.4301). The material strength offers optimal safety against bending and buckling and the connection of the single elements follows by plug-in connections and locking bands against scrolling and shifting. The systems dw-eco 316 (T400 N1 W) are applicable for connection on conventional firing installations, for exhaust gas which accure through combustion of gas, fuel oil EL or solid fuels (timber, coke, peat, carbon). System for dry or wet operation mode, conduction of the exhaust gas in negative pressure wit a maximum admissible constant temperature of 400°C Interior layer consisting of a 0.4/0.5 mm strong stainless steel AISI 316L (DIN 14301 / DIN 1.4571 - 1.4404) exterior layer consisting of a 0.4/0.5 mm strong stainless steel AISI 304 (DIN 1.4301). Important advice to the table of dowel-connection strength: The dowel-connection strength in the table is the angular tensile force per dowel. The wall space is allowed to be up to 40 cm. The dowel strengths are valid at heights above territory up to 20 m. For heights above territory up to 8.00 m a reduction factor of 0.63 has to be observed. For heights above territory between 20.00 m and 100.00 mm a extension factor of 1.38 has to be observed.
At wall spaces >40 cm special attachments / wall brackets are to be used according to the static conformatory test.

4.6 Minimum space to combustible materials in the upright part At usage as exhaust gas line a minimum dimension of 60 mm at 450°C or rather 70 mm at 600°C has to be kept if solid fuels are used. At usage with gas fuels a minimum dimension of 30 mm at 400ºC, measured on the outer layer of the exhaust gas system, has to be kept. If the thermal resistance of the close-by flammable component (eg. at high-thermal isolated framehouse) exceeds 2,5 m² k/w, the light space has to be recalculated. If the value is not exceeded, the below listed values are valid. At wall penetration the local regulations are valid (building regulations).

5.0 Mounting instructions 5.1 General information
5.1.1 Before mounting: • Make sure that ambient and combustion air are not containment with chlorinated hydrocarbons. • Never let system components get in any contact with ferritic or with low-grade materials. • Handle individual components with ultimate care and make sure that instructions below are
followed: o Suitable storage location on building site. o Store components horizontally or protect them against falling over when storing them
standing upright. o Unwrap the components shortly before mounting only. o Protect the components constantly against sparking and dirt.
5.1.2 During mounting: • Injuries can be avoided by wearing suitable utility gloves. • For shortening or deburring component parts use high-grade steel tools only.
5.1.3 After mounting: • The exhaust gas system ID-plate should be positioned well-visibly and permanently, securely
fixed near the exhaust gas outlet. • For conventional cleaning of exhaust gas systems please use adequate cleaning utensils/brushes
(stainless steel/plastics).. • At combustion of timber (dw 400 N1 or rather dw 600 N1) it has to be observed that the timber is
nature left not coated or impregnated. It is not allowed to combust press boards, domestic refuse etc.
5.1.4 Storage conditions The system’s component parts have to be protected against dirt and should be stored in a dry place and in their original wrapping/packaging.
5.2 Components
5.2.1 Wall brackets made of stainless steel: At support of the chimney at a carrying wall. Mounting is possible blade downwards and blade upwards. You have to use wall brackets which are stable enough For the mounting heights mentioned in table 2! The following wall brackets are suitable for the mentioned mounting heights in table 2:
dw 01 / dw 02 / dw 049
fig. 4: mounting base plate with lateral condensate outlet and “upward wall bracket“
fig. 5: mounting base plate with condensate outlet at bottom and “downward wall bracket“
18
5.2.2 Telescopic support: At support of chimney at bottom – the height of the support is adjustable.
5.2.3 Concrete pedestal: At mounting on a concrete pedestal a base plate for pedestal mounting has to be used.
fig. 6: mounting with telescopic support
fig. 7: Mounting on base plate for pedestal mounting
19
5.2.4 Base plate The insulated base plate with lateral condensate outlet or below for connection to the drainage pipe has to be armed on the support. The open base plate is used as base plate for intermediate support or as direct bonnet of the chimney system on a nozzle (eg. open fireplace, industrial plant).
5.2.5 Element with clean-out element The element with clean-out opening is set on the base plate. The position of the clean-out and inspection opening has to be planned according to the valid standards or rather the local regulations. (see fig. 10).
5.2.6 Connection element to the upright part The connection of the connection line to the exhaust gas system has to effect with the pipe tee connection 87° or the pipe tee connection 45°. (fluidic more favourable because of low zeta-value see table 1)
Fig. 8: connection to vertical exhaust gas system
pipe tee connection 87° pipe tee connection 45° with pipe bend 45°
20
5.2.7 Straight pipe element The straight pipe elements are available with 1000 mm, 500 mm and 250 mm. Every component has to be mounted that the nozzle of the interior pipe is above or rather in flow direction of the exhaust gas. Every surge is protected by a locking band.
5.2.8 Attachment The wall bracket act as fastening of the exhaust gas line at the wall or at the steel-support construction. The rigid wall spacer has a wall space of 50 mm. The adjustable wall spacers are used at bigger wall spaces. Basically a wall spacer has to be attached above every pipe tee piece. The maximum space between the single attachments and the dowel-connection strength has to be observed at every wall attaching bands (see table 4 and 5). The attachment should be mounted near to a element surge.
21
5.2.9 Intermediate support If the maximum mounting heights are exceeded (see fig. 1 and table 2), the intermediate supports which should be stable enough are to be considered to catch the demand. This occures through the stainless steel wall brackets and the base plate for intermediate support (see fig. 10).

5.2.10 Flashing kit Flashing kits are available for all slopes (with grading of 10°, with sealing areas made of stainless steel or lead). These guarantee the temperature-independent linear expansion of the exhaust gas line. The storm collar (included in delivery) has to be screwed on the exhaust gas leading element and to be sealed. (see fig. 11)
5.3 Mounting of the elements All components have to be mounted that the nozzle of the interior pipe is at the top or rather in the direction of flow of the exhasut gas, while the nozzle of the exterior pipe has to show converse to the flow direction of the exhaust gas. Every surge is protected by a locking band.
5.4 Mounting above the roof At planning of the exhaust gas line the minimum height above the roof has to be
obtained. The double wall systems of jeremias can be executed freestanding up to Ø 300 mm, 3.00 m or rather from Ø350 mm – Ø 400 mm 2.5 m from the last attachment. Should the height above the roof be higher than 3,00 m a cantilever is necessary ( see fig. 12 ).
