Staff Development (Pupil Free) Day
Due to our Staff Development Day, there will be no staff at the school on Monday 12th August. Please remember
to make alternative arrangements for your children on this day.
Welcome Miss Schreiber
We would like welcome Miss Demi Schreiber to Jerrys Plains Public School. Miss Schreiber is replacing Miss Scott.
We look forward to working with her.
Furniture, carpet, decks, render and paint
During the school holidays, a lot of work was carried out in the administration building. Rendering, carpets and
decks were replaced and repaired. The good news is that all of the cracks we could see in the walls were along the
mortar lines. After almost 140 years, none of the sandstone blocks inside the walls have cracked. The soft and
crumbly mortar has been replaced, and the walls have new render. Once the render cures, the building will be
painted. We have also taken this opportunity to update our office furniture, and to create some much needed
space in the front office.
Melbourne Cup
The 2019 Melbourne Cup Trophy was in Jerrys Plains on Wednesday. Thanks to an invitation from Coolmore Aus-
tralia, Year 5 and 6 students had an incredibly rare opportunity to see and hold the Melbourne Cup. Our students
also had the opportunity to speak with John Letts, who rode the Melbourne Cup winner in 1972 and 1980.
Ready4School Students
Please be aware that on Wednesdays and Fridays, our Ready4School students are attending the school. We are
trialling a new collection procedure, where parent/carers will pickup the Ready4School students from the
veranda in front of the K-6 classrooms. If you are opening a gate for your own child or children, please be vigilant,
and do not let any other children through the gate. DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

Brought to you by Kaye Care
Welcome to a fresh new term at Kayecare, we hope everyone had a great well deserved rest.
Over the past few weeks we have been improving our learning environment. We have focused
on a place to chill and relax and unwind from our day. We found our tee pee and set it up mak-
ing a cosy corner for just those quiet moments.
Some days we find we overthink our daily programme. This can cause unwanted pressure, cer-
tainly not what we need. Our plan is to stay chilled and calm and the universe will be a much
happier place to be in .
Our connection to nature continues to be a buzz. The kids have made some great improve-
ments, they are all their ideas as well which is impressive. They have dug up the garden and
planted tomatoes and spinach. This also teaches the kids to be responsible for caring and wa-
tering each day, as well as harvesting and eating the finished project.
It was suggested we make a dance floor in our nature area so we can have karaoke out there
with the animals. After a bit of brain storming we found a pallet and the dance floor started to
take shape.
Open art and craft has been a focus point. Last week we discussed textures, the kids used a vari-
ety of materials to work with. The favourites were the bubble wrap fish, there was a lot of imagi-
nation and creativity involved.
Have a fun filled week ahead. Until next time, take care. Kayecare
