• Exaltation = being lifted up, referring to what happened to Jesus AFTER His death

1 Peter 3:18-1918 Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit, 19through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison.

Jesus Descended Into Hell

When?

After He died and became alive again.

Colossians 2:15

And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Why?

To announce His victory over the devil.

The Resurrection of Our Lord

Read Matthew 28:1-10 in your Bible.

Romans 1:4

…who through the Spirit of holiness was declared with power to be the Son of God by his resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus Rose From the Dead

This means:1. He is true God.

1 Corinthians 15:16-1716For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. 17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.

The Ascension of Our Lord

Jesus Visibly Ascended into Heaven

1 Thessalonians 4:17-1817After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18Therefore encourage each other with these words.

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

2 Peter 3:10

But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose. 27The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28But Paul shouted, "Don't harm yourself! We are all here!”…

Titus 2:13-1413We wait for the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.

2 Timothy 4:18

The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. To him be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

The exaltation of Jesus makes me sure that His work for me was successful!
