In Jerusalem there is a special pool called Bethesda, and in

Jesus time people would go there to be healed.

See, every day at the same time something came and stirred

the pool, some thought it was an angel, some thought it was

the Spirit of God, we dont know. Everyone believed the first

person to touch the pool after it was stirred was healed.

Now, this man had been laying there not able to walk for 38

years. Every day he came hoping to be healed, but he wasnt.

Then along came Jesus. Do you want to get better? Jesus

asked.

Sir, he answered. Every day I come here, but someone

always gets there first.

Jesus looked at him and said, Get up and walk.

Later as the man was walking around carrying his mat, the

Pharisees saw him and came up to him.

Dont you know its illegal to carry something on the

Sabbath? they asked him.

The man looked at them as if they were crazy, All I know issomeone healed me and told me to get up and walk. So I

did.

The Pharisees asked him, Who did this?

I have no idea, he told them, and continued walking.

Later Jesus saw the man again, and stopped to give him more

instructions.

You need to stop sinning and follow what God says.

Otherwise something bad could happen again.

So the man went and told the Pharisees that it was Jesus who

had healed him.

So then the Pharisees were mad because Jesus had healed on

the Sabbath.

They hunted all through Jerusalem to find Him and yell at

Him.

Finally they found Him and demanded, Who are you to heal

on the Sabbath? God said to rest on the Sabbath?

Jesus answered them, My Father is always working, and so I

am always working.

This made them even madder, now He was claiming to be

equal with God, and they knew no one was equal to God,

How can you claim this?

Again Jesus answered, I tell you the truth, I can only do

what I see my Father doing, because my Father loves me.The Father will show you even more amazing things, and the

Son will be made glorious. Someday the dead will hear the

call of God and those who God knows will rise to be with

Him.

Now, they heard this and were very confused. We hear this

now and are confused, so imagine hearing it and not knowing

that Jesus was God and not knowing that He would rise from

the dead.

Jesus kept answering them, Many people have testified that

my work is Important. John came and told you I was coming.

More important than John is Gods Word.

The Word and Works of God told you I was coming. Andso its not just John who accuses you, its Moses who stands

and says you have missed the most important story of all.

You have missed the story of Gods Work. Jesus looked at

them sadly and shook His head, If you do not believe what

Moses wrote, than why would you believe what I do?
