*Why does this Historical Event lend

itself to Dramatization?

* The assassination of John F. Kennedy was a huge deal back in this time. This event helps people remember the death of an American hero who served his country in the military in World War II. The event was sad and depressing but the president himself, John F. Kennedy was considered to be a great president who had a very interesting back-story that some don’t remember or know of. We believe this event will also drive people to tears or will move them and make them remember this sad day. The whole event was very dramatic and depressing but it was one of the most shocking moments in history for the loss of the beloved John F. Kennedy.

Nor even perhaps in our lifetime on this planet. But let us begin.

* Four days later after the funeral and after the assassination, Lyndon B. Johnson appointed the President’s commission on the assassination of Mr President Kennedy. *The Event

* In 1963 American President John F Kennedy runs for re-election. During his campaign he stressed the importance of winning over Florida and Texas, and said that he would visit both cities with his wife. On November 21st, 1963 President Kennedy flew to Texas to give several political speeches. While in Texas the young president was shot and killed by Lee Harvey Oswald. It was a slightly wet fall morning in Texas when JFK left the airport and traveled along a ten-mile route that wound through downtown Dallas on the way to the Trade Mart where the President was scheduled to speak at a luncheon. Because the light rain had stopped when the Kennedy’s had gotten to their limo, the driver thought it best to take of the roof so that the people of Texas could see J.F.K Governor Connally and the First Lady.

* John Kennedy’s limo was escorted by a couple of police on motorbikes and a couple more limos that contained the Vice President. At 12:30 PM when the president’s car passed Texas School Book Depository Three shots where fired at the limo. Kennedy was hit in the neck and in the head, while Governor Connally was hit in the thigh by the bullet that had shot through Kennedy’s neck. After the split second of terror the first lady crawled onto the back of the limo to find safety in the arms of one of her security guards who leaped to action after hearing the shots and ran to the Kennedy’s limo.

* After Kennedy was shot the limo raced to the nearest hospital. 30 minutes later a Catholic priest was summoned to administer the last rites and John Fitzgerald Kennedy was declared dead at Dallas' Parkland Hospital at the age of 46, his murderer was Lee Harvey Oswald. The president's body was brought to Love Field and placed on Air Force One. Almost two hours later the Vice President, Lyndon Johnson, took the oath of office, administered by U.S. District Court Judge Sarah Hughes, and was declared the 36 th President of the United States of America.

* An hour before this Lee Harvey Oswald, a recent employee at the Texas School Book Depository, was arrested for the assassination of John. F. Kennedy and the assault on Governor Connally and police officer J.D. Tippit, who was shot while trying to arrest Lee Harvey Oswald. A day later when Lee Harvey Oswald was scheduled to be transferred from the police headquarters to the local jail local, live television viewers looked in shock as Oswald was shot at point blank range by a local nightclub owner called Jack Ruby. Lee Harvey Oswald died at Parkland Hospital, ironically the same hospital John. F. Kennedy died at.

*Why will you find it compelling.

*We believe that one will find this movie compelling because it was fifty years ago that JFK was assassinated, and he was one of the most beloved presidents of the US.

*Also we believe that one will find this compelling because it wasn’t that long ago and it is still a constant threat right now with the assassination of presidents.

Page 13: "JFK DOWN" Movie Pitch

*What techniques we will use to

make it compelling

*For this movie we will film some new footage and we will also have real footage and pictures from the day of the event. I think that by doing this it will show people two separate views on the preceding's of that day in history.

*Early Life

* John F. Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917 in Brookline, Massachusetts. He graduated from Choate a boarding school in Connecticut and went to Harvard University a premier school. Later during WW2 he served in the Navy where he became a lieutenant. Then on August 2, 1943 his patrol boat rammed into a Japanese navy ship killing two of his crewmates and almost killing more. Kennedy’s brother Joe also died during World War 2 changing a lot of his view on politics. In 1946 Kennedy was first elected to the House of Representatives. He went on and served for 6 years. Then in 1952 Mr. Kennedy was elected to the Senate. That same year he married Jacqueline Bouvier, who ended up being in the car when he was assassinated. In 1957 Kennedy wrote a book called Profiles in Courage that won the Pulitzer Prize, additionally that year the first child Caroline was born. In 1956 Kennedy was almost chosen to be Vice-President so he promised himself that he would run for President next time. On July 13th, 1960 Kennedy was nominated for President by the Democratic Party, later on he chose Lyndon B. Johnson a senator from Texas as his running mate. Later that year on November 8th, 1960 Kennedy defeated Vice-President Richard M. Nixon to be the 35th president of the United States, at the age of 43 he was the youngest President and the first Catholic. Before the inauguration his second child John Jr. was born.

* On January 20th 1961 John F. Kennedy was sworn in as the 35th president of the United States of America. During his inaugural speech he said, “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country”. A quote that would stick with him for the rest of his life, and for centuries to come. At that time they were also in middle of the cold war so Mr. Kennedy would always be busy with the politics of the cold war. Also at that time Mr. Kennedy was also very interested in launching a space program. Another grave problem for Mr. Kennedy was racial segregation. Although a ruling in the U.S. Supreme Court stating that there should be no more racial segregation in schools there was still plenty of school that were still racially segregated.
