We are glad to present you Astana, the city that will make your

life-changing experience even more EXCITING!

LANGUAGE

Kazakhstan is officially a bilingual country: Kazakh language, which is spoken by 64.4% of the population, has the status of the ‘state’ language, while Russian, which is spoken by most Kazakhstanis, is declared as an ‘official’ language. Other minority languages spoken in Kazakhstan include Uzbek, Ukrainian, Uyghur, Kyrgyz, and Tatar. English, as well as Turkish, have gained popularity among youth since the collapse of USSR. Education across Kazakhstan is conducted in either Kazakh, Russian, or both.

Although Kazakhstan is relatively safe place to visit, the climate can posses some danger in the summer. The summer in Astana is comparatively hot and dry, the temperature can reach 45oC (113oF) and sometimes more. However, the average temperature is about 30oC (86oF). Those prone to sun burn and sunstroke should come prepared!

There are a lot of mosquitos in summer in Astana, but they do not possess any danger. If you are not ready, you may find a lot of mosquito bites on your skin!

There are no dangerous epidemic or diseases in Kazakhstan.

    Although AIESEC in Astana is comparatively young, the committee steadily grows and works to unleash its full potential! It already has 50 active members with 19 leading positions; It already has raised 20 project partners and has held numerous leadership conferences; It already welcomed 5 international interns (+ some from other LCs for GV) and we are waiting for more! Come, gain experience and have unforgettable internship with AIESEC in Astana!!!

‘JIGSAW’ is a project aimed at development of Self awareness, Communication skills and Global mindset among at least 200 participants in summer camps in Kazakhstan. Project framework will be based on active trainings, coaching sessions, cultural events, language lessons and issue relevant events in order to deliver three earlier mentioned goals.

More than 1.6 million school students will go to summer camps in Kazakhstan this year, according to the Ministry of Education and Science. By participating in this summer camps interns will have a chance to directly develop and influence Kazakh youth, and in that way indirectly influence social problems like: healthy life style, positive values in society, cultural understanding and ambitious career development.

Interns will work in summer camps for children about 250 km away from Astana, in a resort area called Burabay.

Brief Job description

Interns will create programs conducted in class related to increasing children's competitiveness in public speaking, self awareness, and leadership to participants aged 9 to 15 from Monday until Friday.

Interns will also be involved in assisting teachers in English classes or teaching subjects in English to e n s u r e s t u d e n t s understanding.

Interns will facilitate workshops and activities for children and

teenagers in summer camps. In addition to assisting with

organizing the logistics of the camps, interns will help with

assembling and storing of materials as well as taking

pictures and videos.

Interns will create a presentation about their

country and share it in order to help children

understand and realize the importance of peace

among countries.  Intern will participate in

networking and activities held by the camp.

Personal development of the intern is conducted

trough AIESEC Leadership development model

implementation provided by local committee and summer camp personnel

Interns will be in charge for creating extra agenda

activities as well as activities for after

workshop time such as: dancing classes, singing lessons, football, creative

thinking sessions etc.

WHAT TO PACK?  •  Everyday clothing appropriate for

summer •  Also some warm clothes appropriate

for windy days •  Sunglasses •  Smart-casual clothes for official events •  A towel •  Swimming costume (just in case) •  Personal hygiene products (soap,

shampoo, some creams and etc.) •  Plug adapter (Kazakhstan uses the

same plug sockets as European countries, excluding UK)

•  Something for self-entertaining (books, iPod, etc.)

•  Papers, notebooks and pens for work •  A backpack (for convenience) •  Mobile phone, laptop •  Money •  Documents (your passports,

Kazakhstani visa, flight tickets and student id card)

•  Photocopy of that documents (just in case)

•  For Global Village you are obliged to bring some items representing your culture and your flag (compulsory)
