IN THIS ISSUEIt was the Pilgrims’ first brutal winter in the New
World. On board the Mayflower, the 120 passengers hung on
for dear life as the freezing temperatures and contagious
diseases took their toll on them. As a lot of them were dying
side by side and just when all hopes seem lost, Squanto with
the other Native Americans came to their rescue. With
kindness and sympathy, they taught the Pilgrims how to survivethe cold weather and how to effectively raise crops. Months
after that and with a very successful harvest, together, the
Pilgrims and the Native Americans held a 3-day feast to thankGod for seeing them through their direst moments. All the odds
were stacked against them but God, in all His wisdom and
might, gave them something to be thankful for. Hence, the
celebration of the first Thanksgiving Day.
As we have our share of turkeys, stuffing, and all theside fixings this holiday, let us pause for a while and call to
mind that everything the Pilgrims put up with pale in
comparison with what Jesus went through for us. He who knewno sin became sin and died on the cross in our stead. We were
all destined for incontrovertible destruction but with Jesusdeath, and resurrection, we were given the gift of eternal life.
Just something to think about over the long weekend…
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

icare ministry
leadership update
November 21, 2010 - Through the ICARE Ministry, JIL Glendale fulfilled one of its 2010goals of reaching out to those who are in need by supporting the Samaritan’s Purse
Operation Christmas Child. Twenty shoe boxes were filled with toys, school supplies, clothing, and toiletries. Each box was carefully wrapped with beautiful Christmas themedwrappers; some were even personalized. Many JIL Glendale members and leaders jumpedon the opportunity to reach out and bless others when they heard about this operation.Other JIL outreaches also participated. Samaritan’s Purse is an organization founded byFranklin Graham.
As an outreach, JIL Glendale formed its LeadershipManagement Team in March 2010. Its goal is to planand implement various strategic goals for growth and
expansion of the church in Glendale. As a decision-making group for the outreach, the team works closelyand under the direction of the Area Pastor, Pastor ArnelAquino and the Assistant Area Pastor - Trainee, PastorVhee Cabanting.
Our seven member team include (from left to right) SisAlma Constantino, Bro Allain Constantino, Sis EdlynCabanban, Bro Ronnie Dacanay, Sis Flor Viloria, BroDonald Cabrera, and Sis Yani Cabrera. (In this picture

TODAY
IN THE LIFE
Up close and a tad bit personal…
As God’s creations, we are built and wired
to have an effect on others. We have this
tremendous capacity, through our words, actions,
and demeanor, to either make or break someone’s
day. On that note, please allow me to introduce a
woman of God who has positively touched others’
lives in countless ways. She is a person who has a
heart of a servant and has her ways of reaching out
to people. We all know her as a worship minister
who sang her heart out and led the VIA (Voices In
Adoration) ministry for a significant period of time.
Back in our Azusa days, we would always see her in
meetings, services, trainings, and other church
activities. Truth be told… she was just everywhere!
Now that we have our outreach here in Glendale, she
has taken on a new level of challenge. Although
she’s still very much involved in music and still
leads Praise and Worship she has then been
promoted as the Head of Finance for JIL Glendale…
talk about multi-tasking!
Without further ado, we present… *drum roll* …
Sis. Edlyn Cabanban!
Q: How long have you been a Christian?
A: Since 1998
Q: What was your first ministry involvement?
A: Music Ministry
Q: What’s your favorite verse?
A: Romans 8:28
Q: Who’s your favorite Bible
character?
A: David
The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has
appointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He
has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim
liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the
blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to
proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luke 4:18-19
VERSE OF THE MONTH
By Bro. Allain Constantino
Q: How long have you been in Finance?
A: I’ve been involved in finance even back in Philippines, then in Azusa, and now appointed as Head
Finance here in JIL Glendale. I stopped my involvemen
from finance while in Azusa to give priority to the V
ministry.
Q: What did you do to prepare yourself for this position?
A: I prayed about it that I can handle the task a
responsibility given. Even though I have been involved
finance in the past, it still is a great challenge being th
Head of Finance. I asked for assistance from Bro Dona
and Sis Yani as leaders of JIL Glendale.
Q: What advice can you give to those aspiring to be in th
Finance ministry?
A: For those who are aspiring to be in the ministry, themust love working in finance and not to be involved onbecause they are told to do so. They must be committed anhave the initiative to do the job. One must really love thtask in working in God’s ministry.

A vast majority of people are content living their
safe uninterrupted lives. Day in and day out, they go about
the same routine in an almost robotic fashion. The moment
they wake up, it’s like they’re set on “automatic,” going
through the same things, not expecting and actually shying
away from anything that resembles change. Sounds
familiar? Well that’s because we’re not immune to this. Alot of us, Christians, are living the same humdrum lifestyle.
In so doing, we fail to grasp the kind of life God intends for
us.
If David played it safe and decided to just go about
his shepherding business when Goliath was mocking God’speople, he would not have had the privilege of single-
handedly delivering Israel from its oppressors.
If God calls for you to change your routine
He’ll surely show you things your eyes have never seen
In this quest, He promises He will show you His might
As you walk through the paths with His power, with His light
Had David turned a deaf ear to the challenge, he
would have missed his chance to experience God’s might
in a personal way. On that same deduction; if the Wrigh
brothers didn’t change their routine and start thinking
outside the box, if they didn’t act on their seemingly “out of
this world” idea, the thought of flying could still be just
that… a thought.
We are all familiar with the phrase saying, “theonly thing constant in life is change” and contrary to
popular belief, change is good. For us Christians, we are
given the blessed assurance that things will work out if we
relentlessly put our faith in Him. Let us be reminded o
Romans 8:28 where it says, “And we know that in all things
God works for the good of those who love him, who have
been called according to his purpose.”

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful
love endures forever. Psalm 107:1
Indeed, God is good! He is awesome! He is great!
There is no word big enough to describe God’s goodness.
This past year has really been a year of victory, promotions,
blessings, and favors from the Lord.
JIL Glendale is really favored by God. He hasbrought faithful and committed workers to serve in this
ministry. I have not seen such committed members, workers,
and leaders with genuine love and compassion for God.
Everyone serves with one purpose, and that is to please God
and no one else. The heart of a servant is truly embodied inthis church. Thank you, Lord for Your people.
Early this year, we were able to rent an office in our
current place of worship through a bidding process. Truly
God’s favor was upon us when our bid was selected. We
now have a place where we hold our meetings, conducttrainings, have fellowship, and simply a place we can call
our own. Our VIA continues to use the sanctuary that werent on Sundays, for practice on Saturdays for free. He really
knows our needs and He provides.
Our seven-member Leadership Management Team(LMT) was formed in March 2010. Additional leaders and
heads were also appointed throughout the year. Our Sunday
worship attendance continue to increase and have past the
15% mark. We heard testimonies of brothers receiving jobs,
promotions being received, salary increases from employers, sicknesses being healed, and doors being opened continually.
Praise God! And because God’s people are blessed, I
continue to see in everyone an overflowing desire to give
back to the Lord – of their gifts, talents, time, and finances.
We were able to send four leaders in July 2010
the Reencounter under our JIL 12 program from our fir
batch. The second batch of three leaders were able to atten
the Encounter in May 2010 and are now preparing to atten
the Reencounter in February 2011. We were also able
send four leaders to the Preachers Training held in JI
Long Beach, resulting in more preachers and a ministeriteam for Glendale. I also had the privilege of attending th
Pastoral Care Training Program and the Region
Management and Administrative Skills Training attende
by the JIL USA pastors and coordinators.
Our first LA Area Anniversary was held in ofacility in Glendale held in September 11, 2010 with S
Edith Mendoza as our special speaker. I saw a tremendou
amount of support from our brethren not only in the L
area but also from the San Diego area.
I thank our Lord for our WAM / VIA team whcontinue to strive for excellence in all that they do. I than
our Lord for our Gatekeepers and WIN Ministries who aalways there, seen or unseen. To our faithful tither
workers, and leaders – may our good Lord continue
shower you with blessings and provide your every need.am blessed to serve the Lord in this ministry. To my wif
Yani and kids – next to God,
I couldn’t do what I am able
to do without you by my side.
To our good Lord –in behalf of the JIL Glendale
family, we thank You for who
You are and for all You’ve
done in our lives! Bro. Donald, Sis Yani w/ Dia,Chris, and Callista

San Diego, CA - From November 10 to November 14,
thirty-seven church pastors, coordinators, regional, and area
leaders attended the first ever JIL USA Regional Management
and Administrative Skills (RMAS) Training held in JIL San
Diego Church. Leaders from 8 states, 29 churches / outreaches
got together in one place for training in church management and
administration.
It is not by accident that the acronym RMAS closely
resembles the word “armas” in tagalog meaning weapon or arms.
It was truly an experience of a lifetime. JIL USA leaders were
equipped or armed with the skills necessary in leading God’s
people and managing the church. The five-day training was
facilitated by Bro. Rene and Sis. Carmen Gonzales, who made a
special trip just to be with the JIL USA leaders. Each day was
filled with very informative lectures, personal talks, fun
icebreakers, and role-playing. Most days lasted from 9 a.m. to 9
p.m..
Included in the training was the very important JIL USA
milestone setting that required the formation of strategies and
action plans. It was during this time that everyone present
realized our full potential in fulfilling the church’s mission. USA,
the sleeping giant, is about to be awakened! Pastor Aldrin, our
Director for International Operations with his wife, Pastor
Monette Navo along with Pastor Bong Gonzales from Canada
were also in attendance.
Pastor Aldrin led the JIL USA leaders in a prophetic
gesture of claiming all of the 50 States of America for Jesus by
placing JIL logos on every state. The prophetic gesture extended
south to Mexico, the Caribbean Islands, and South America.
Each map of the United States, Mexico, and South America were
placed on the ground and each leader walked on top of them.
The vastness of this great country was dwarfed by the
love and brotherhood present during the training as each leader
held hands, embraced one another, and joined forces in declaring
JESUS IS LORD OVER THE USA!
