Reunion 2010
Dear Friend,
About a quarter century ago, we came together at Kakinada; brimming with pride on getting into JNTU and burning with the desire to ‘engineer’ a new world!
In the four years we spent together, we built lasting friendships with many batchmates, some seniors and some juniors. A select few were lucky to find life partners!
Undoubtedly, we grew fond of the campus, some of the staff and most of the serene little town - at least from Bhanugudi Jn to Sarpavaram!
Most of us still cherish the memories of skipping classes, stealing mangoes, pranks on professors, dreams of GATE/GRE/CAT and the fears of mid exams and make-ups.
After college, we moved in different directions, savoring progress and achievement in our chosen field. We took on more responsibilities – in families, organizations and communities. In spite of all the change, we all have a secret dream - to go back to that magic land called JNTU-KKD and relive those magic hours of non-stop fun.
NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE THIS DREAM COME TRUE.

We believe that this is the year to make this dream come true. 25 years after we joined the college - let us celebrate ‘Reunion 2010’ on the weekend of July 31/Aug 01 this year. Please mark these dates on your calendar and make plans to travel to Kakinada with your family.
Now, imagine this:

•Meeting current students to share your experiences and provide inspiration to young minds
•Felicitating staff members for their unwavering belief in our potential and attempts to impart knowledge despite our considerable reluctance
•Sharing your thoughts, experiences and college stories in the commemorative souvenir (memory book) to be published on this great occasion
YOU CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN
ENTHUSIASM - Your enthusiasm and involvement are very essential. Please keep us updated on your contact details and bear with us as we keep sending you more communications in this regard. Also feel free to communicate your ideas and suggestions to make the event a success. And inform other batch mates who have not been in touch.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT - We request everyone to contribute generously for the success of this meet. The proposed minimum contribution is Rs 6000/- from each batchmate. We also need additional donations to cover the estimated cost of Rs. 8 Lakhs. Please consider extra donations in multiples of Rs 5k (5,000 / 10,000 /15,000 / 20,000). These extra donations will be acknowledged in our commemorative Souvenir. In case you are not able to attend the event, the Souvenir will be mailed to you.
This money will be spent on arrangements for the event, food, entertainment, activities for the children, staff felicitations, and souvenir printing. Travel to & from Kakinada will have to be arranged individually to suit your personal travel plans.
PRESENCE - Undoubtedly, your presence and participation is the
cornerstone for the success of the event. We request that you bring along your spouse and children to make it a grand and memorable event.
Talk to your familyThis is a truly once in a lifetime event that you and your family
cannot miss. Tell them about the trip and take then down memory lane.
Talk to your batchmatesTell them you are attending and get them excited. Help spread the word to friends not reachable by email. Get details of the few friends who are still untraceable.
Update your detailsBe sure to update your email, phone and mailing address. Let us know details of family members attending the meet.
Contribute to the Souvenir
Send in your college pictures and family portraits. Write an article / story / poem about your college
memories to share.
FAQs - some one has to ask ....
Who can attend? All batchmates, spouses, children and parents are welcome.
Where is the Event? At JNTU Kakinada Campus.
How do we fund this event? Through donations from each of us. Starting at Rs 6000 and with
additional amounts in multiples of Rs 5000.
What if I decide not to attend?That is sad news - we hope you will reconsider. And trust that does
not stop you from making a donation. We need all batch mates to contribute to make it a great reunion.
Where else can I help?We have the Connect Committee, Event Committee, Souvenir
Committee, Finance Committee and Giving Back Committee in need of volunteers. Please indicate your interest in an email to your branch ambassador and he will direct it to the right person.
How to donate?To keep matters professional, we already registered a society for
our group and opened a bank account at SBI, JNTU Campus Branch. Cheque / DD made to “JNTU Kakinada 89 Alumni - Events” payable at Kakinada, may be mailed to:

A brief history...A few friends toyed around with the idea
of a 20 year reunion in 2009, ‘Bees Saal Baad’. It was a great idea that took time to take off. When word started to spread, more people evinced interest and finally it became a proposal for a reunion in 2010.
As a first step we started the Connect initiative. We have so many unsung heros who worked very hard in the background and thanks to their efforts - we were able to establish contacts with most of our batch mates. And the push for a 100% coverage continues.
Considerable thought went into deciding the venue and time - and what better place than our beloved college - where we met exactly in the same week 25 years ago. And we had a healthy debate on the budget and contributions.
With email on our googlegroup, daily personal calls and frequent global conference calls the idea was brought to this concrete stage.
Looking forward...We look forward to more participation
and contribution from each one, whether it is in volunteering on the various committees, generation of ideas, contributions to the souvenir or ensuring financial support for this event. We want to ensure that not only the batch mates but also our spouses and children enjoy the visit to our college. So they are also welcome to pitch in with ideas and any help they can render.
We strongly believe that this is a truly once-in-a-lifetime event. And it takes a very special person to make it a success - that is YOU.
