CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
1.1. Background
Tourism is an industrial service that has a complex mechanism since it
handles the tourist’s movements from their country to the tourism object up
to back to their country. In this case, the tourism service involved many
components to support the tourism program, such as transportation,
accommodation, restaurant, guide and etc. Therefore, tourism industry has
an important role in developing tourism. One of the tourism industries that
have an important role in developing tourism is Travel Agent. A travel agent
is a retail business that sells travel related products and services to
customers, on behalf of suppliers, such as airlines, car rentals, cruise lines,
hotels, railways, sightseeing tours and package holidays that combine
several products (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Travel_agent, accessed on
May 29, 2010).
Travel Agent is the bridge between the tourist and the supplier service
of accommodation, restaurant, tour adventure operator, tourism operator etc.
Generally, tourists use the travel agent service to conduct their tour itinerary
since it is easy and cheap. One of travel agent that exists in Bali is PT.
Floressa Bali Wisata. PT. Floressa Bali Wisata is located at Jl. Gandapura III
K/16 Kesiman – Denpasar, Bali. PT. Floressa Bali Wisata arranges not only

the tour program but also tour components, such as ticketing,
accommodation and tourism objects ticket. Bali as one of famous tourism
islands in the world is a great place to learn and develop skill and knowledge
in tourism industry. In this case we were sent to Bali to dig the knowledge
about the tourism aspect and the mechanism of the work in tourism industry,
therefore by conducting the job training in Bali we could explore knowledge
better and get a new job experiences in Travel Company.
Since the tourism activity is one of the important sector that give a
huge contribution in developing the local government economic or society.
With this contribution, the local government has an addition income from
tax which can be used for developing the local development. In this case,
Tourism industry as one of the important sector which can increase the
economic growth of the region, tourism is considered as one of the strategic
asset in increasing the development of the region which has the potential
tourism object. For this reason the tourism sector is able to pressed the
urbanization of the resident since the tourism industry it self has three
significant aspects such as economic aspect ( the source of the government
devisen, taxes ), social aspect ( creating the work field for unemployment )
and cultural aspect.
From above explanation that the tourism industry has a significant role
in developing neither local government economic nor society economic. In
this case the University of Nusa Nipa is necessary to send their students as
the next best young generation in developing the tourism industry in

Indonesia, through conducting the Internship Program for the students who
chose Tourism Industry as their practicing study in order to there is re-
generation of the people who love tourism industry and can promote the
local or national tourism object they have in the international forum. As the
above explanation this Job Training is one of the participation of University
of Nusa Nipa towards the tourism industry in Indonesia to increase the
human resource about the tourism industry and other side of tourism
industry itself and developing the student skills in implementating their
theory that they had got in the class in order to there is a link and match
between the theory and the implementation in the real work to make a such
best generation of tourism industry in the future.
1.2 DEFINITION AND PURPOSE OF JOB TRAINING
1.2.1 The Definitions Of Job Training
Job Training is the work activities which supply the student
to recognize and understanding about the mechanism of work in
each institutions they practice. Job training also the academic
activity which is conducted by the university to train the student
out of the class in order to developing their skill and implementate
the theory they have. The objective of conducting an internship
program at PT. Floressa Bali Wisata was to apply knowledge and
to know the real work about travel agent activities.

1.2.2 The purpose of Job Training.
The purpose of job training can be divided into two important
parts, they are:
1.2.2.1 General Purpose
The Job Traning generally is intended to developing
the knowledge of student and improving the skills of
student about tourism business or simply so that student has
enough knowledge about the real work especially in
tourism industry as a precious experience in entering the
real work which correlate with his education background in
order to the student is able to implementate between the
theory he has and the practicing in the job field. This Job
Training beside as an application of theory that they have
got in campus, also as an opportunity to increase the self
confidence and the ability of skills to be ready jump over in
the real work someday.
1.2.2.2 Special Purpose
The intention of conducting internship job training are
as follows :
1. Developing the student knowledge about the activity of
institution they practice as a supplies of good
opportunity to jump over the real work forward.

2. To know about the mechanism of real work, make a
comparison about the theory and real work in the field.
3. In order to get the chance for developing the skills and
knowledge to increase the self confidence as the
supplies of work forward.
4. Train the student to think critical and use their
knowledge through making this internship report
throughout the job training activities they had been
doing in the institution they worked.
5. In order to the student can understand about the
principle of work in each division they work, how to
participate with them, how to work together in team,
how to developing the special technique so that the
student has a sense of work.
1.3. Area Description
PT. Floressa Bali Wisata is one of travel agents in Bali that gives
services in tour and travel. The head office of PT. Floressa Bali Wisata is
located in Jakarta. It was established in 1977 by notaries Document No.
14th, 13th July 1977 and legalized by judicial Affair No. Y.A.5/12/17 on
23rd January 1978. Since PT. Floressa Bali Wisata was built, it had some
notary document changes, namely document no 14 was replaced into
document no 22 on 14th December 1977 and the last is notary document no
35 on 16th June 1979 about the centre of company which was moved to

Kupang. This last notaries document had been legalized by judicial affair
No.Y.A.5/104/1 on 20th February 1980. Then it got license from directorate
general of tourism department no 379/d.2/BPU/111/81 on 11st march 1981.
To get participating on developing national tourism business,
especially for Bali and beyond tour package, PT. Floressa Bali Wisata
opened some branch in Bali, Flores, and Kupang. In Bali it was establish on
27th June 1989 and had been legalized by tourism post and
telecommunication department through directorate general of tourism
department no 02/38/KXIV. It is located at Wira Street no. 2 Sanur. Since
1st February 2004, the office was moved to Jl. Gandapura III K/16 Kesiman
– Denpasar, Bali. The map of PT. Floressa Bali Wisata is presented in
appendix 1.
1.3.1. An Organization Chart
Floressa Bali Wisata is an organization that consists of people
who do some work together, get relationship and help each other to
reach company’s goals. The relationship among the departments is a
part of this organization. An organization structure presented in
enclosing page the coordination system from managing director,
general manager continued to the head of personnel and manager of
each department.

1.3.2. Job Description
Floressa Bali Tour consists of some divisions and each division
has different job as follows:
1. Managing Director
Leading and coordinating between the department manager
and also its subordinate.
Giving a signature for every company’s appointment and
contract.
Determining company policy concerning finance, work
system and administration.
Determining budget and earnings of company.
Deputizing company in tourism association membership or
other effort association.
Being to promote company product in every opportunity.
2. Deputy Manager
Deputizing Director to handle activity of company
when Director not

invitation or organization
c. Supervising activity of operation and reservation

3. Quotation & Programming Division
Collecting package component price and data of tourism such
as: room, hotel rice, food price in hotel, restaurant,
transportation type and rent price per day, guide fee, tourism
object and expense entrance fee and others.
Making price for the Confidential of Tariff with data that
have been got.
Calculating and determining price for selling tour package
based on request of Wholesaler, overseas Tour Operator,
Bureau Journey of tourism or tourist and direct offer to ask
for.
Performing a correspondence with Wholesaler, Tour
Operator or tourist concerning plan journey of tourist.
4. Operation Division
Carrying out tour for incoming foreigner to Indonesia
(Inbound Tour), for the Indonesian people of foreigner or
which is staying in Indonesia (Tour Domestic) and for the
passenger of cruiser (cruise).
Ordering the component of tour activity or other requirement
and which needed by each place and submit the management
confirmation to Wholesaler, Tour Operator, tourist candidate
or pertinent side.

Checking all archives management of tour and give its
growth to or principal of Wholesaler, Tour Operator, tourist
candidate or the interested parties.
Preparing ticket, voucher travel and other document that
needed by tourist to be delivered in time.
Submitting carbon copy of travel other document or voucher
to pertinent principal on time.
Arranging assignation of guide and remind every things
required to paid attention guide in accompanying tourist.
Arranging budget of tour in the form of local expense and
deposit to be paid by guide.
Executing administration of tour better and is careful.
Serving and finishing each demand and sigh (tourist
complaint) as well as possible.
Making periodical business activity report.
5. Reservation Division
Ordering hotel room; chamber, attraction perform, restaurant
as according to request of partner beyond the sea, home
affairs and direct request of tourist.
Selling transport ticket, sea, land and air.
Selling hotel room, restaurant, and other hotspot.
Selling all kinds of package of tourism other company
product.

Managing journey document and immigration permit.
Making report sale of area product of travel periodical.
6. Marketing Division
Collecting information and data regarding all needed by
tourist and area market state of tourism and also record all
praise and sigh for the materials of research in development
of effort.
Planning and compiling all kinds of product and also
conditions to on the market and sold by area of reservation
and of operation to guest candidate.
Braiding good relation and make agreement cooperation with
various principal in sale of product / provided service / to be
carried out by principal with beneficial condition and
condition.
Determining price sell and its conditions from every sold
product.
Making and printing tariff of tourism (tariff confidential) sold
and carried out by area of operation, and also brochure of
tourism and other promotion appliance.
Marketing all planned product, regular and directional by
spreading abroad promotion appliance and brochure through
mass media, direct trade travel to guest candidate / consumer.

Braiding good relation with mass media and governmental
institution, principal and or friend humanity of is effort which
is equal to its area.
Compiling expense every year.
7. Accounting Division
Arranging exit enter company's finance.
Corrective of sale report.
Making and controlling bank report.
Making journal, diary, passbook, petty cash and big cash.
Correcting invoice and prepare cheque.
Controlling stock of other valuable document and ticket.

1.3.5. Products and Services
PT Floressa Wisata is company that gives services in tour and
travel field. It has a wide scope to sell the tourism products
especially inbound tour via cooperation with overseas agent.
Overseas agencies are tour and travel agent in other companies that
become business partner of PT Floressa Wisata, which sell package
or tour product itself. It is also active in selling the products. The
product and service in PT Floressa Wisata are as following:
1.3.5.1. Inbound Tour and Package
In inbound Tour Package, PT. Floressa Wisata sells
the tour products in Bali or local area that are sold to
domestic and foreign tourist. In selling these product, this
company has cooperation with Local and Overseas Agent.

Floressa Wisata are: Pacto Travel in Bali, Marintur Travel
in Jakarta, Pusaka Tour in Yogyakarta, Bajo Dive in
Labuanbajo, Papua adventure Tour in Irian Jaya, While
some overseas Agents are: Cox and Kings Travel in
America, Annie Tour in Thailand, Raj Holidays in India,
and Ecco Travel in Poland.
1.3.5.2. Overland Tour Packages
Beside Inbound Tour PT. Floressa Wisata also has
Overland Tour Packages that sell to the tourists. It serves
tour to other islands in Indonesia, such as: Bali sightseeing,
Komodo Tour, Lombok, Flores, Irian Jaya, Sumba,
Sumatra and Java.
1.3.5.3. Hotel Reservation
PT. Floressa Wisata serves the customers for booking
of accommodation, particularly hotel reservation. In this
case, it has cooperation with companies related, tour and
travel. One of t he companies is hotel. Some hotels that
have cooperation with PT. Floressa Wisata are Bvlgari, Bali
Hotel, Hyatt Regency Yogyakarta, Bintang Flores, and
Komodo Ecolodge.

1.3.5.4. Ticketing Services
PT. Floressa Wisata also serves booking of airlines
ticket other domestic or international flight. Some airlines
company that have cooperation with PT. Floressa Wisata
are Trigana Airlines, Transnusa, and IAT.
1.3.5.5. Transportation Services
Transportation is one of essential part in tour
activities. PT. Floressa Wisata has personal transportations,
if the guest wants to it. However, the guest can also ask for
the other transportations based on their will. As a travel
agent, PT. Floressa Bali Wisata has cooperation with
transportation companies such as: Trikayana Transport,
Dewata Bali Transport, PT. Dwima Perdana Transport and
Merpati Transport Bali.
1.3.5.6. Bar and Restaurant Reservations
There are many bars and restaurant in Bali and all of
them supply many foods beverages either Indonesia or
Western food with different qualities. To give the best
serves for customers, PT. Floressa Wisata makes
cooperation with bar and restaurants such as Pacung
Restaurant, Melasti Restaurant, and Abian Boga Bar &
Restaurants.

1.3.5.7. Adventure Tour Packages
It serves reservation in Adventure Tour for customers
who want to do or like with adventure such as: rafting,
bungee jumping, hiking, tracking etc. In this case, PT.
Floressa Wisata has cooperation with adventure tour
companies such as: Mega Rafting, Bali Adventure Tour.
1.3.5.8. Water Attraction & Recreation Packages
To serves this package, PT. Floressa Wisata has
cooperation with water attraction and Recreation Company
which provide water sport, such as: flaying fish, snorkelling
and diving.
1.3.5.9. Sea Cruise Packages
To provide this package, PT. Floressa Wisata makes
cooperation with Cruise Company which serves trip by ship
in Bali, such as: Bounty Cruise and Sea Sail Cruise.

CHAPTER II
WORK PLAN
Work Plan describe a project to be accomplished and outlines how it will
be done. The best you are taking in every step of work without a work plan
everything is nothing, without a work plan the one can not provide a good way in
taking part of work. One of the important things to reach the goals of your wish is
by making a work plan, the good we are taking part of making such good work
plan, the easier we are going to accomplish the job we are in.
2.1 Internship Program
The Writer began conducted the Field work practice on 17th April until
17th May 2010 with the location of PT. FLORESSA BALI WISATA. This
Field work practice is one of the requirements of student graduate in
University of Nusa Nipa. The membership of the student who conduct the
field work practice in Bali are four persons include the writer in it which two
persons are establish the work field practice in different institution. For the
first time I and my friend were placed in Reservation department to studied
about the client files then rolling to other divisions for the next week. Since
this work field practice was held in short time for a month, the Personalia
stuff of PT. FLORESSA BALI WISATA gave the work plan based on 4
(four) parts where each parts were represent one week activities which the
writer will explain more bellows on the next chapter. The division of work

practice was divided into four parts of each weeks for one month where each
weeks have the division as follows:
1. Reservation Department
The first week the writer learning about the client files by reading
the email client, this is intended in order to understand about the
principal of work mechanism or the progress about what should we
supply to the client or from overseas agent. This activity should be done
by the writer for one week the rolling to another division.
2. Reservation Department
On the next week the writer will learn about the mechanism of
work in reservation department. In this division the writer will be taught
about a brand-new knowledge concerning the travel industry,
implementating the skills of English language that the writer got in
campus such check the availability of the room in hotel by phone before
booking it, making fax message and email to book the room after check
the availability of room in the hotel, reply the email from clients nor
from overseas agent outer Bali region where the language used is
English language.
3. Operation Department
In this division the writer will be taught about the mechanism of
operation department in holding a tour program around the Bali region
nor outer Bali, at this time the writer will have some important things
about tourism industry as follows:

1. Learning how to pick the guest up in Airport
2. Learning how to make Tour Activities Report, Guide Order, Sign
Board, Bunched the flower for visitors (especially for VIP guest),
Welcome Card, and soon.
3. Managing the tourist, check the luggage and arrange the seat of each
tourists in the bus.
4. Learning the check in progress in hotel of the tourist.
4. Product Department
In this division at the third week the writer will be placed at
product department division where the job description is learning about
the way to make product. These are some object goals that the writer
must done in this division ;
1. Reply E-mail
In this case the writer will reply the email from the clients demand.
2. Write the daily E-mail ( E-mail Record )
Email record is made as reference for PT. FLORESSA BALI
WISATA concerning mailbox from clients.
3. Make a Quotation
Quotation is made to know the charge that must be paid by clients. In
this case the writer just calculates the price of each components.
4. How to Make Tour Program or Tour Itinerary
To make tour program the writer use a guide book which is already
prepared before, this book is called “ Tour Catalogue “

5. Handling Telephone
The writer gets telephone from other instantions or from clients who
wants to know about the tour information.
6. Check Flight Schedule
The way to check the flight schedule is carried out by browsing into
the the official website in the internet or simply make a call to the
flight instantion.

CHAPTER III
JOB PLANNING IMPLEMENTATION
Following to the previous chapter, the writer will explain more about the
detail activities during the work field practice progress in PT. Floressa Bali
Wisata throughout a month. As the explanation above, the writer will explain
based on each divisions where the writer was placed to. Just because this
internship program was conducted in short time ( a month ) the writer had the
work schedule as follows :
In the reservation department for two weeks ( 2 weeks ).
In this division the writer studied the clients files containing the tour request
and tour review from Floressa and any other activities that will be explained
below. The writer also tried to adapted with the situation in the company.
In the operation department for one week ( 1 week ).
The writer had the chance to accompanied the tour guide to manage the tour
group from Thailand ( 60 pax )
In the product department for one week ( 1 weeks ).
The writer helped the stuff making a tour program and reply email from
clients.

3.1. Reservation Department
This division is lasting for about two weeks. In this division the writer
got the opportunity to :
a. Learning Files
For the first time came to PT. Floressa Bali Wisata the writer learnt
the client’s files, the files were located in the filling cabinet and it was in
the main map where the map was written the name of the clients, the
files were containing the clients demand, enquiry, tour programs and
quotation that they have to paid. In the files also there were hotel
information, restaurant review and transportation information. This
progress the writer done for a week by reading the whole files in one
map, and change to another map files if the first one is done.
b. Make A File
On the next week after reading the client files and adapted with the
company, the writer still in the reservation department, reading the files
while helping make a file. To make a client’s file, the first step is the
writer should type the clients name with the tour period, afterwards the
client name will be attached in the map which have the client’s files.
Then the files must be organized as the details date and make hole on the
edge of the client files using a tool which is called “ holler “ this is
intended to bind the files upon the map, after the map is tighten already
the map then will be placed in the filling cabinet.

c.Booking Hotel
The writer is taught for booking hotel room as client want to stay
in, this is can be done by calling the hotel reservation stuff, make a
conversation as the first step to make negotiation about the price and the
availability of the room.
d. Make E-mail
The next step after asking for the availability of the room in hotel
through conversation by phone is making an email confirmation to make
sure that PT. Floressa Bali Wisata has booked the room. During the
work activities in this division the writer not also make email booking to
the hotel, but also make email to the overseas agent or clients who wants
to know further more about the tour program in PT. Floressa Bali Wisata
nor the information of the visitors tour such as ; email re- confirmation,
email cancel, email revise, etc where the writing progress is using
English language.
e.Make Fax Out Messages
Beside sending email to the hotel, agent or client to inform the
confirmation, it is also can be done through fax messages which used
Faximile machine. This is to anticipate the obstacle during sending email
by Microsoft outlook express such as disconnect to the server or internet
error connection.

f. Send Fax Message
In Floressa the writer for the first time sent Fax Messages or other
formal letters by Faximile machine, something that never the writer done
before. There was some important things that the writer got in sending
the fax out messages for example the fax out should be noted in the “ fax
record “ first before sending the items, what should the writer do to
make such decision if only in sending the fax out is failed
( No Response ), in this case if there is a beep sound while we send fax
out, we must hang up the phone in the fax machine and inform that we
will send fax only, and ask the institution that we want to send the fax to
press the start button. In the fax record there are some information just
like reference number, attention ( the people that we want to send fax
message ), company address, regarding ( the things concerning about fax
messages ), Fax number, Send by ( the name of sender ) and Remark
( notification about the status of the fax messages, it is sent, defer or
failed ).
g. Sending the letter through faximile
The writer had ever been asked by the stuff to sent the letter via
faximile machine. Before sending those letters one thing should be
remembered is to note them in Fax Book Note, in the book there are
some details information about the letter which being sent such as
reference number, the name of fax receiver, and sender.

3.2. Operation Department
In this division the writer got the chance to take part in tour program
from Annie Tours and Travel Thailand 60 pax including the tour leader from
Annie Tours and Travel for about 3 days. The tour program was 4 Days Bali
Holidays Tour period 3rd – 6th May 2010 with programs as follows:
1. Day 1. ( 3 May 2010 ) : Bali – Arrival
In this opportunity the writer accompanied the guide from Floressa
to picked the guest up. In this chance, the guest also picked up by “
moon girl “, moon girl is the girl who wears the traditional Balinese
clothes and bring some flowers necklace for the guest. Not all the guests
have ever been weared flower necklace by the moon girl because only
the VIP guest have all this special treatment.
After the guest is complete altogether, the writer then began to help
the guide to check the luggage whether those luggages were complete
already or there were some luggages left behind, in this case sometimes
there were a special luggage which the guest did not want to be brought
by the guide, it can be personal bag or may be there are some important
things in the bag. Afterwards the writer and the guide then divided the
group into two groups where each groups are 30 persons since the group
was a huge group ( 60 pax or person ), so PT. Floressa has been ordered
two Tourism Buses. In the bus the writer gave the guest cool water and
wet towel, each persons have one water and towel.

After took the guest to the restaurant for lunch, then our group
went to the choice hotel for their accommodation. During this travel the
writer got many knowledge about the mechanism of check in progress,
managed the group and how to showed them to the right bus, one of the
obstacle that the writer got throughout this progress was the language,
many of them were old people and they have a little bit skill in speaking
English well. Since there was a changing tour program and request from
some guest of Annie Tours to visit Uluwatu temple, so the writer and the
guide then held a long trip to Uluwatu temple after check in progress
was complete.

2. Day 2 ( 4 May 2010 ) : Full day Kintamani Volcano & lake
Tour
On the second day as usual, the writer and the guide began to
picked the guest at 8 am to the Hotel Ramayana in Kuta, the writer
began to managed the group and showed them to their bus by holding a
board which was written “ Annie Tour Bus 2 “ since the writer had a
chance to managed the second group. In this opportunity the writer got a
gorgeous experience of some spots in Bali such as Batubulan village, the
writer and the group attended Barong and Keris Dance Performance,
then visit the art and handicraft villages of Celuk, and Ubud, Goa Gajah

( Elephant cave ) then tampak siring to see the holly spring water temple
of Tirta Empul.
3. Day 3 ( 5 May 2010 ) : Half Day Denpasar City Tour
As the second day, at this time the writer also had the chance to
travel around Denpasar city to know more about the history, the
traditional architecture, the traditional culture of Bali island and soon.
The next tour program was visiting the Bali Museum, a local traditional
market at Sukawati and an exciting spot around Bali.
4. Day 4 ( 6 May 2010 ) : Transfer Out
Transfer out of the group to the next destinations. On the last day
of the trip, the writer did not accompanied the guide anymore since the
last day of their holidays tour was break time, it means there is no tour
program anymore.
During this travel for 3 days the writer got the brand-new
knowledge about the tourism object in Bali and also training my English
language with some guest who are able to speak English and how to
guide them in the tourism object of course.

3.3. Product Department
After three weeks passed by, the writer then moved to other division in
order to got some important knowledge and experience, in this opportunity
the writer moved to Product department helped the stuff to carried out the

task such reply email, searching for hotel information about the price and
type of room in the contract rate and many more as the details will be
explained one by one further more below. In this division the writer had a
lot of knowledge about the mechanism of stuff in replying the email request
from clients about tour program, the tour information and how to serve the
clients in order to the clients are able to accept the itinerary which is just
prepared by the stuff in Product Department. When the writer moved to this
division, the writer got lot of knowledge and also have the opportunity to:
a. Reply E-mail
In this case the writer reply to the e-mails in Microsoft outlook
inbox. PT. Floressa Bali Wisata received many emails everyday for all
division / department, but from so many e-mails in the inbox were
addressed to the Product Department where most clients ask about the
tour program / itinerary and travel plan cost calculation or quotation. In
this case the stuff have the duty to respond to every e-mail.
For example about the client’s email tour request it can be seen in
enclosing page.
b. Calculate Cost Of Itinerary ( Quotation )
Calculate the cost or called Quotation is made to determine the
total cost that must be paid by the client. In calculating the cost of each
tour itinerary program generally contains accommodation expenses
(hotel), Transport, Guide Fee, Entrance Fee (as a tourist attraction
entrance fees), Donation, Aqua, Towel, Lunch, Dinner, Tax, Moon Girl,

etc. For detail information the writer will attach the sample of quotation
in the enclosing page.
c. Studying Itinerary
Itinerary is a tourism program or tour plan which will be carried
out by the guest. In making the itinerary the stuff usually using guide
books which is already prepared in each the stuff’s personal computer
and supplied by PT. Floressa Bali Wisata which the guide book is called
"Tour Catalogue".
The sample can be seen below in the enclosing page.
d. Telephone Handling
As in the previous division, in the Product Department the writer
had also conducted phone handling, usually the writer receive calls from
other agencies or others who want to talk with company stuff.
e. Check Flight Schedules (Check Schedule)
The writer had the opportunity to check a flight schedule. The
writer checked the flight schedules through the official website in the
Internet or it can be done by calling the official office to make sure the
validity of the flight schedule.
3.4. The Obstacle during the work field practice
The main obstacle when the first time jumped over to the travel agency
during the job training was the limitation of the writer knowledge about
tourism industry. This is can be proven while the writer was hard to
understand and accomplish the email request from client about the tour

program since the rest of the work in the travel agency are serving the
clients through correspondence via electronic mail ( E-mail ) and by
speaking whether in formal English language nor formal Indonesian
language ( make a conversation ), for the first time while handling the phone
asking about the availability of the room in the hotel, the writer a little bit
being in nervous and it was quite confusing when the feedback happened or
the reservation stuff asking about the alternative way when the room was
full, this is because of the writer did not have enough knowledge about the
tourism industry, what is the mechanism and how to deal with the situation
above. From this obstacle the writer began to learnt many things about the
voice intonation ( the way to serve the clients in formal ways ), regards to
the institution stuff when hang up the phone or make a call and asking for
his / her name in order to make sure that there is a transaction through
conversation by phone, this is intended to avoid the anonymous person who
deal with us ( as a prove ). Another obstacle is while learning the client’s file
for one week is quite tiring, we must read the rest of the files in one map
which has approximately 30 files and most of those files are in formal
English language, so we must translated the vocabulary that we did not
understand at all, and this activities the writer done approximately for 9
hours at 9 am until 5 pm.
3.5. The Achievement
When the obstacle was occurred in the daily activity of the writer
during conducted the job training in PT. Floressa Bali Wisata, it could not

make the writer down moreover being in desperate sense. From those
obstacles the writer then tried to fixed the problem that the writer gone
through, the writer began learning how the Floressa stuff dealed with the
clients via phone, how they were replying client’s e-mails. The writer was
happy being together in one team with them since the stuff in PT. Floressa
Bali Wisata were very kind and always help the writer when the writer got
some problems, such as gave the outline of the conversation while the writer
would call the hotel reservation to asked about the room availability, help
the writer when the writer did not know how to reply the client email by
giving the clear tutorial review in the empty paper. In this case, the writer
are able to understand a little bit about the mechanism of the way stuff work
and deal with the clients.

CHAPTER IV
CLOSING
4.1. Conclusions
After finishing the Work Field Practice in PT. Floressa Bali Wisata, it
can be concluded that doing job in travel agent company is very interesting
because almost all of activities were dealing with costumers, and very
challenging as there were new experiences from day to day especially when
there were tour programs. We can know everything happened in this world,
we can know recent update information about the current situation since the
company always linked to other overseas agent abroad. Beside those thing,
by conducting job training in Travel agent company we can know about the
technology especially computer technology, our skills in operating computer
of using Microsoft Office, browsing the information on the internet, was
really helped us in dealing with the technology when we had to apply the job
or simply continued to study forward. Commonly, we operate Ms. Word to
do those jobs and Outlook Express to reply the client’s emails.
Based on the writer experience during conducted the work field
practice in PT. Floressa Bali Wisata, the writer can conclude some points
below :

1. The writer are able to know and learning the situation and
condition in tourism industry directly.
2. The writer can improve the English language and implementate the
English ability directly through correspondence via email and
conversation ( writing, reading and speaking )
3. The writer can operate the computer especially Microsoft office
4. The Writer can implementate the theory that the writer got in the
work place while make the comparison and learning it
5. Make a good cooperation between University and Travel agent
company
6. PT. Floressa Bali Wisata has given a huge contribution of the
education in Indonesia since the company willing to accept the trainer
from University of Nusa Nipa or from other University in Indonesia.
4.2. SUGGESTION
I my self as the trainer in PT. Floressa Bali Wisata would like to give
some suggestions to the following institutions :
a. For PT. Floressa Bali Wisata
We suggest that for the first time conducted Job Training, the
newbie trainer must be given the definite schedule in learning the
client’s files, minimal 3 hours or 4 hours in reading the client’s file, just
because it is quite tiring if we must read the whole files one week for
about 9 hours a day.
b. For University Of Nusa Nipa

It is necessary for University Of Nusa Nipa in conducting
the internship program for 3 months or more as the experience of the
writer one month is not enough time to learn about work place
mechanism especially in Travel Agent Company which has some
divisions that the writer must learn one by one, and of course it is not
enough time while carry out in a short time since the first month is
adaptation with the company situation and condition also make a
good cooperation with the stuff.
I my self would like to suggest that the University of
Nusa Nipa should give the intensive materials of teaching about the
tourism, such as reservation, hotel management, travel agent
management, and guiding for the student who wants to take tourism
industry as the internship program. It can be done a month before
conducting the internship program ( pembekalan ) since as the writer
experience most activities in travel agent company are serving the
client whether through writing email ( correspondence ) or make a
conversation by phone, and all the formal languages are using
tourism terms.
Before those both points above can be done in the
University of Nusa Nipa, it is important to think twice if only want to
conduct the internship program outside NTT province since there are
so many obstacles that the trainer will go through such as the
financial point of view, the brand-new condition and environment in

the work place, politic and policy point of view as the writer
experience in Bali had ever been bumped into the local police since
the KTP ( self identity ) must Bali ID.
The last point from the writer is about the financial of the
internship program should be transparent. In this case, the
management should be integrated one another. This is can be
mentioned as the transparent financial if only the list of the items are
definite for the internship program administrative such as the
estimate for the internship program only, what those estimate are for,
and it must be reported individually in one part of internship program
such as the report financial for travel internship, for the education
internship, for the hotel internship and it must be report to the student
who want to conduct the internship. The consumption, transportation
and accommodation estimate should not be paid in order to avoid the
suspicious thing of the management credibility since the estimate
will get back to our account.
