• Positive/negativeexternalities. Apositiveexternalityofautomationwillbeimprovedsafetyandtrafficself-management.Thiswillreducetheneedforjobsinautobodyshops,policing,andaccident-relatedmedicalservices.Itwillalsoreduceavailabilityoforgantransplants.

• Economicviability. Asprivateownershipdeclines,thetraditionalautomotiveaftermarketwillbechallenged.Ontheotherhand,anewmobilityappaftermarketcouldarise.

• Rippleeffects. Victimsofjoblosseshavelesstospend,affectingemploymentandincomesacrossavarietyofsectors.Thisappliestobothcommercial(fewertruckdriversmeanlessspendingattruckstops)andconsumeroutlays.
