Next year, RIFF will attempt to hold together

    interlinked strands of deep musical

    connections that have somehow appeared

disjointed and frayed... a most unusual weave.

    - a percussion minefield, with explosions fromRajasthan, Kutch, South and North east India,

    Africa and Asia

    - old and melodious spiritual music from rural

India, from South Asia and afar

    - a 'homecoming', where some of the more

traditional and curious gypsy musicians of west

Asia and the Roma of central Europe will come

back to the place where they trace their roots

to - Rajasthan... to meet with their cultural

    cousins, many, many times removed.

Under the full moon at Sharad Poornima, in the

    enchanting environs of the stunning

Mehrangarh Fort, in a blue city blessed by the

Sun... we will be touched in our hearts and

    minds. God willing.

    Jodhpur RIFF (Rajasthan International Folk

Festival) is India's leading international folk

music festival. For five days in October each

year, the festival brings together more than 150

musicians and performing artists from across

Rajasthan and around the world to celebrate

their musical heritage and create new sounds

    through innovative collaborations.

Timed to coincide with the brightest full moon

of the year in north India, Jodhpur RIFF features

a series of spectacular concerts and events

based in and around Jodhpur City and the

Mehrangarh Fort, voted Asia's Best Fortress

    byTime magazine.

In addition to interactive daytime sessions for

families and visitors, staged against the

breath-taking backdrop of the Fort, Jodhpur

RIFF includes performances by Living Legends

    - master musicians from Rajasthans artistic

    communities; sensational headline acts

showcased each night on Main Stage; cutting-

edge global dance grooves that will keep the

party going late into the night at Club Mehran.
