POLITICS

Page 5: John 7:1-36

I. Some see his disposition

Vs. 1-2

Page 6: John 7:1-36

(Joh 7:1-2) After these things Jesus walked in

Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the

Jews sought to kill him. Now the Jews' feast of tabernacles was at

hand.

Page 7: John 7:1-36

(Joh 6:1) After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the

sea of Tiberias.

(Joh 6:2) And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that

were diseased.

(Joh 6:3) And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his

disciples.

(Joh 6:4) And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.

II. Some are disillusioned

Vs. 3-7

Page 11: John 7:1-36

(Joh 7:3-5) His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart

hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest. For there is no

man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be

known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world. For neither did his brethren believe in him.

III. Some see a Decent man

Vs. 12a

Page 15: John 7:1-36

(Joh 7:11-13) Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he? And there was much murmuring among

the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man:

others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people. Howbeit no man spake openly of him for

fear of the Jews.

Page 16: John 7:1-36

(Luk 18:18-19) And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master,

what shall I do to inherit eternal life? And Jesus

said unto him, Why callest thou me good?

none is good, save one, that is, God.

IV. Some see a Deceiver

Vs. 12b

Page 18: John 7:1-36

(Joh 7:11-13) Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he? And there was much murmuring among

the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man:

others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.

Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.

V. Some see good doctrine

Vs. 14-15

Page 20: John 7:1-36

(Joh 6:66-71) From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more

with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? Then Simon Peter

answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life. And we

believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus answered

them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should

betray him, being one of the twelve.

Page 21: John 7:1-36

"The Messiah (Jesus), son of Mary, was no

more than a Messenger before whom many Messengers have

passed away; and his mother adhered wholly

to truthfulness, and they both ate food (as other mortals do). See

how We make Our signs clear to them; and see where they are turning away!" (Quran 5:75).

Secondly, when I say that I am "for Jesus", I do not mean

to imply in any way that I have converted to

Christianity or that I now believe Jesus to be a god.

What I do mean is that I have come to have a great deal of respect for the teachings of Jesus. My respect for Jesus is not based on the Cross, but rather on the Mount--not on

His death and supposed resurrection, but on His

teachings as exemplified by the Sermon on the Mount.

VI. Some see a person demonized

Vs. 20

Page 24: John 7:1-36

(Joh 7:19-20) Did not Moses give you the law,

and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? The

people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill

thee?

Page 25: John 7:1-36

MegalomaniaMegalomania is an unrealistic belief

in one's superiority, impressive abilities, and even omnipotence. It is

characterized by a need for total power and control over others, and is marked by a lack of empathy for anything that is perceived as not

feeding the self.

Page 26: John 7:1-36

VII. Some see a deliverer

Vs. 31

Page 27: John 7:1-36

(Joh 7:31) And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will

he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?

Page 28: John 7:1-36

VIII. Some will see his departure

Vs. 33-34

Page 29: John 7:1-36

(Joh 7:31) And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will

he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?

Page 30: John 7:1-36

(Joh 7:33) Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto

him that sent me.

(Joh 7:34) Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and

where I am, thither ye cannot come.

Page 31: John 7:1-36

(Isa 55:6) Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

(Jer 29:12-13) Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye

shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me

with all your heart.
