• Apprenticeship programs can be a vital part of a transitional program designed to prepare inmates for their release from prison.

Department of Labor

• Ensures Quality Training
• Improves Productivity

What is Apprenticeship
• Skilled on-the-job-training– A formal system of training that combines
on-the-job training with related technical instruction
– Requires a minimum of 2000 hours up to 10000 hours
– Takes new employee from apprentice to journeyman status
Inmates:
Work and Learn under supervision of skilled craftsmen
Attend Technical Classroom Instruction
Journeyman Certificate for Completers
May receive credit for previous training with employer
