My name is Filip Crnčec and I'm an exchange student from Croatia. I'm studying Business and I chose to come to JCU because I wanted to improve my English, see and explore the USA and because I heard that JCU has one of the best busi-ness schools in this area.

2012 Study Abroad Fair

The 3rd Annual Study Abroad Fair will take place on Monday, October 15th. Representatives from various study abroad programs will be in the LSC Atrium from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm. All students interested in studying abroad are encouraged to attend.

"Hi, my name is Evelin Duda and I am an international student from TU University in Dortmund, Germany. My subjects are English and Catholic Theology and I am studying those to become a teacher for secondary schools in Germany. This is my first study abroad, but I can recommend this experience to everybody. It is re-ally interesting to immerge in a totally new culture and experience how good or bad your foreign language skills are. I look forward to seeing some of you at my university some day!"

My hometown is Meppen a small town in the North of Germany. I moved to Dortmund to study. What I like most about JCU is that you meet so many friendly people :)

Barrie Landrock in Turkey - The opportunity to study abroad is one that all students should take. I know that I learned far more about myself during my time in Istanbul, Turkey than I ever would have at a typical semes-ter at home. From the moment I arrived in Istanbul, I knew that it was going to be one of the greatest adventures of my life.

Fatih University, while providing a unique educational experience, acquainted me with the city and with fellow exchange students. Istanbul itself is an enormous city that nev-er stops; I had an absolutely amazing time exploring it with my new friends from all over the globe. However, adventure doesn’t even begin to describe the fun and wonder of exploring Istanbul and our trav-els throughout Turkey. Fortunately, Faith University really wants its exchange stu-dents to travel during their time in Turkey, and is extremely accommodating in regards to its academic schedule for this reason. The cultural experience of Istanbul is also unparalleled because there are people from every walk of life and from all over the

world, in one city. Throughout my time in Turkey, I met some amazing peo-ple and saw some inexplicably beautiful things. Istanbul itself has got to be one of the few cities where you can eat lunch at a riverside park, while sim-ultaneously overlooking a 1500 year old Roman wall and a sea of skyscrap-ers.

Greg Gutmann in Japan - My study abroad experience at Nanzan University in Na-goya, Japan is my most memorable experience that I have had so far at John Carroll. While in Japan I was able to learn a new culture and make friends with people from just about every-where in the world. Probably the most incredi-ble part was to create close friendships with people from a new culture and that spoke no English. Now looking to my future one of my main interest is finding a way to have another international experience, because of the great experience in Japan.

Rhodes University, located in Graham-stown, in the Eastern Cape Province of South Africa, is one of the oldest univer-sities of the country. It’s been in a part-nership with JCU since 2008. In 2007 a delegation of JCU students and faculty visited Grahamstown, and stayed at RU as part of our Summer Institute in Peace Building and Conflict Resolution. A re-turn to RU is planned for summer 2014.
