Victorian Government: Global Health Melbourne Plan Launched April 2014 by Deputy Premier/Health Minister

Focuses on seven key strengths with significant potential for global growth including:

Opportunities for Australia • China currently has limited availability of

appropriately skilled medical and nursing staff as well as the shortage of world class facilities

• Increasing demands for high quality health care will be impossible to satisfy in China

• Wealthy Chinese patients will increasingly look to off- shore providers

• Growing unmet need for chronic conditions that can be treated as bundles of care (eg cancer, cardiac, renal, liver, orthopaedic)

• Australia could lever healthcare quality, economic, cultural, travel, time zone and price advantages
