New Initiatives Contractor WHS Contractors are over represented in the injury statistics
developing regional based approaches bringing operators and contractors together
identify issues that need to be addressed and agree on approaches to address them.
Safe design Following on from MSAC initiatives MSAC will be implementing a
participatory “Safe Design Program”. The aim of the program is to promote a holistic process at examining
priority design issues (for example roof bolting) that has commitment from Operators, OEM’s and government.
The program is due to commence next year

Current Major Initiatives Fatalities Review Following 5 fatalities in four incidents last financial year MSAC is currently reviewing the current situation to identify if there are underlying and systemic issues for the industry to address.
