Deep gratitude to our many benefactors who have been so generous in providing for the needs of those who are struggling during the pandemic! Your goodness to our neighbors in need is a beautiful witness to Christ pre-sent among us today! Thank you to all those who cook and provide nourishing meals for the hungry, thank you to all who have held food drives to stock our pantry for families in need, gratitude to those who provide cases of water to distribute to the thirsty and fans for the elderly and fami-lies with small children, thank you to those who provide diapers and formula for our Healthy Baby Program, thank you for the generous response to providing backpacks and school supplies, and gratitude to those who assist us financially. Deep gratitude to those who pray for us and for those we serve! When bringing donations of any type, please come during the hours of Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. It is im-portant that items not be le outside but giv-en to us directly. Please do not leave any-thing behind the rectory garage doors at any time. We value your partnership. We are the Body of Christ, working together, to care for the most vulnerable in our community! May God continue to bless you with His love and His grace!
On Sunday July 19th, Cul-de-sac Concerts, an initiative that grew out of a desire to do something good during our time of social distancing, held a concert with proceeds go-ing toward our very own Saint Agnes Day Room. They raised $3,121.00 for our Day Room. Thank you to everyone who coordinated and donated to the concert!
This this the time of year that the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary begin new missions, including four of our Sisters from Saint Agnes Convent. We are grateful to Sister Dorothy Mayer, Sister Jane Michael, Sister Regina Havens and Sister Kathleen Egan for their vocation and inspiring presence in our parish community. Please keep them in prayer during this time of transition. On August 9th Sister Christina Roberts, I.H.M., will make Perpetual Profession of Vows at Villa Maris House of Studies. Sister lives at our convent and teaches at Bishop Shanahan High School. Please remember Sister Christina in your prayers as she prepares for this extraordinary day. Our parish has been blessed to have Mr. Shane Flanagan with us for his Summer Pastoral Internship. Shane has been involved in various aspects of ministry even with the limitations of COVID-19. He will be leaving today and then returning on Thursdays during the school year to continue his pastoral ministry with us. We are grateful for his dedicated service. Please keep him and all the seminarians in prayer as they continue their discernment of a priestly vocation. In Christ’s love, Fr. Costa

We pray for priests, families, the unborn, the dying, souls in Pur-gatory, and special intentions. Come pray the rosary with us in response to Our Lady’s ur-gent request.
On Saturday July 25th, Archbishop Perez celebrated a Pro-Life Mass at the Cathedral, followed by a prayerful procession to Planned Parenthood. The Mass was standing room only as a diverse group of Catholics from the Archdiocese, including several Saint Agnes parishioners, gathered to witness to the dignity of life at all stages.
Are you considering becoming Catholic? Explore and grow in the Catholic faith through our RCIA program to discern if God is calling you to become a full member of the Catholic Church. For more information, email Mary Ann Corcoran at [email protected].
Would you enjoy some quiet time with the Lord while doing important work behind the scenes? The Altar Society is in need of volun-teers to help with washing and ironing the small linens we use at daily and Sunday Masses. You would be trained and then called upon about once per month to take care of small linens. If you're interested in learning more, please contact Regina Maxwell at 610.696.5584 or [email protected].
We are looking for adult volunteers to stand at the entrance to the church parking lot on Saturday evenings before Mass and on Sun-day mornings before and during all Masses. The role of these volunteers would simply be to stand by a sign that says "Church Parking Only" and to wave and welcome anyone pull-ing into the parking lot. IIf you are able and willing to help with this important service, please contact Mrs. Car-men Lytle, our parish secretary, at [email protected].

The mayor announced this week that Gay Street will be closed from Matlack to Darlington Streets in order to allow restaurants and businesses to set up in the street beginning Monday August 3rd.
You may need to take a different route to get to church. Traffic from Gay Street will be re-routed onto Chestnut Street. From High Street, take West Chestnut Street to N. New Street. Turn le on New Street and then le into the Saint Agnes Parking lot. There will likely be more traffic in the area. As with any road closure, we anticipate that there will be more traffic around Saint Agnes Church. We pray that this measure helps local businesses and our community, and so your patience is greatly appreciated. Parking may be difficult. Street parking around the church will likely be extremely limited. Cars that are parked in the church parking lot for non-church related reasons will be towed. We anticipate that with less street parking available, there will be an increase in people trying to use our parking lot for non-church related reasons. We want to preserve our parking lot for reasons associated with our ministry, es-pecially for Mass, school, PREP, the Day Room, wed-dings, and funerals. For this reason, we will begin enforc-ing our policy that all cars in our parking lot must belong to someone currently attending a church or school func-tion. Otherwise, they will be towed.
We do not want to have to tow anyone, but we will need to begin doing so out of service to you, to support our ministry.
Please only park in the church parking lot while you are attend-ing a church or school function. If there is no church or school func-tion currently in progress, there is a possibility that you will be towed. Please do not park in the church parking lot and go some-where else, even if you go to church first.
We are working to make sure that our park-ing enforcement is communicated clearly in multiple ways to everyone who may be affected by it. Please help us to spread to word among your neighbors and other pa-rishioners. We really, truly, do not want to have to tow anyone. If you anticipate that the Gay Street closure will affect you in ways not described in this bulletin or if you have questions, please con-tact the rectory so that we can continue to support you and our community.

Seminarian Shane Flanagan, assigned to Saint Agnes this summer, has been leading us through a video series on the Eucharist enti-tled, “Come Home.” Shane reminds us that God is always calling us closer to Himself in the Mass. These videos are release weekly and can be found on the parish Facebook page, YouTube channel, and at saintagnesparish.org/come-home.
This year we will be unable to have our tra-ditional gathering for the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary due to restrictions with the pandemic. But we can still pray and cele-brate! The Assumption of Mary is celebrated on August 15th. We are inviting you to partici-pate in a vvirtual novena (not in-person) lead-ing up to the Feast, beginning on August 7th. Each day, we will e-mail prayers and post a Rosary on Facebook at 7pm. To sign up, please visit saintagnesparish.org/prayer
In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus tells the disci-ples to give food to the crowd that has gath-ered to meet Jesus. There’s a problem, though. “Five loaves and two fish are all we have here,” the disciples tell Jesus. This is a moment that is deeply relatable for me. There have been many times when Jesus has asked me to do something in my life, o en times something difficult, something that involved suffering, and I have felt that I just didn’t have what was required. Essential-ly, it felt like he was asking me to feed thousands of people and all I had were a few pieces of stale bread and a couple fish sticks. Have you ever felt like that? Have you ever felt woefully unprepared for the events of life and what God is asking of you? You’re not alone. But in today’s Gospel, Jesus shows us that we don’t need to run away in fear, we don’t need to just “try harder.” No, all we have to do is bring ourselves to Him. We bring our five loaves and two fish to the altar at Mass and allow Him to feed us, to give us more than we could ever imagine. Cecilia Cicone, Comm. & Pastoral Assistant
More than the most beautiful hymn or the largest donation to the Church, Mass is our greatest act of worship. Through the sacrifice of the Mass, we offer ourselves along with the bread and wine. We worship with our entire being and are transformed into the Body of Christ, offered to God. There is literally nothing greater that we can give Him! Here are some suggestions for entering fully into the worship of the Mass:
Choose a particular intention that you would like to pray for before Mass begins.
While the priest is preparing the altar and the collection is taking place, find some-thing in your heart that you would like to spiritually offer to the Lord. It could be a concern, a talent, a decision, or anything.
When you receive Holy Communion or make an act of Spiritual Communion, pause to make a prayer of thanksgiving. You have offered all that you are to the Lord: in the moment of Communion, He gives all that He is to you, for the glory of God.

Over the past few months we have learned just how important it is to be able to communicate quickly with our parishioners. Here are some ways for you to stay connected to St. Agnes: 1. Sign up for the St. Agnes e-mail list. You
can do this by visiting our website, saintagnesparish.org or by texting AGNES to 22828.
2. Like our Facebook page at facebook.com/saintagnesparish
3. Check our website regularly for updates.
