Daniel DudleyCountry music has been a core part of America’s culture for over One Hundred years.

It often describes the way ordinary Americans live their life.

Country music has been a staple at rodeo’s, baseball games, political rallies and of course at square dancing events all over the world.

How it began, how it spread

•It began with the ballads and songs of the British Isles, and then changed in content and personality as it grew in America.

•Carter family did the first ever recording in the 1920’s.

•Great depression and World War Two had a large effect on the spreading of country music beyond the south.

Defining the musicThe history of Country music is full of artists that communicated realistic and sentimental lyrics.

The songs have been characterized as to be about love, death, religion, patriotism and current events. Its values continue to connect with Americans today, just as they did with cowboys and farmers years ago.
