In C is for Country, Lil Nas X says we can all share the shine. Try these activities to share the shine with people you see in person or the friends you see on the screen.
E Is for Everybody
Look Like a Letter Have everyone pick a letter from the alphabet, and dress up as a person, place, or thing that their letter represents. Will you dress up as a book if you’re the letter B? Or a star if you’re the letter S? If you can’t see your friends in person, send photos of your costume to share the shine or host a digital costume party!
I’ve Got a Shout-Out! Give shout-outs to your classmates and friends with this fun call and response. You say, “I’ve got a shout-out!” Everyone responds, “Shout out!” Then you name a classmate or friend and the positive quality you saw them exhibit. They could be G for generous or C for curious. Be specific in your shout-out—share what you saw or heard that lets you know this person is shining on others.
Name Game Learning someone’s name and saying it correctly is a sign of respect and love! Share the shine by learning the
names of others in a group. What letter does your name begin with? Think of that letter. Then think of an object you might find in the countryside that begins with that same letter. Everyone can practice introducing themselves before naming their country object. It might sound like this: “My name is Nas, and in the country, I found a nest.”
