VTR means Vintage Triumph Register. This was the S. Central region and the Big One covers the United States later this year. Very impressed with the the 3 Glorias from Texas, since only 17 exist around the world!

52* and raining for the Autocross and Funkana, otherwise... quite uncomfortable! Were we in England? Or Oregon?
Mark Canaday & I got plenty soaked putting on the Funkana, but the cones never rusted!

‘Twas a tad drippy-cold at 7:30 a.m. for the photo shoot of 85 cars Tuesday morning. Here’s a fraction of them. We were lined up either side of the grand entrance to the Elms Hotel. The Photographer was aboard a 40’ crane device.
Newsletter editor “Me”, won 1st place in the Triumph TR4-TR250 category. Who’d a thunk!

Yes, our trusted steed, the Triata placed 10th out of 20 on this past Sunday in Hastings, Nebraska during the 6 hr. endurance race. Saturday we placed 13th out of 25 and the remaining cars went on to Sunday. TR7 with Mazda Miata 1.6 running gear. It’s still a Turtle but finishes races!!

Moving Brian & his French Horn and Special K. By James McKenzie
Under free-lance arctic conditions, the lovely Brian Kelley pried the muscular abilities of several retired club members to move the MG K- Type (hope I spelled it correctly) to his new abode. Below are those curious as to why Brian is.

Movies...

Instead of going to the theatre and paying for tickets to see “Noah”,
consider sitting in front of your shower and turning on the water. Watch the cascade, open a beer now
and then, as you smile at the thought that after two hours your water bill will still be less than a ticket
to this movie, soda, and a tub of greasy popcorn and you will probably enjoy it more than the Biblically
based abomination.
If you are fighting and enlisting giants to join with you to war against your evil relatives, then you have
already learned all there is to get from this cinematic Old Testament remake.
The movie “Noah”, with Russell Crowe as the patriarch, is out, silly, and making millions. In the Bible
it is claimed that Noah lived to be 950 years old, in addition to saving the human species and most of
the then crawling and walking creatures. We all remember that; they came on the ark two by two.
The Russell Crowe Noah drinks, curses his fate, and spends a lot of time fighting with his son
Ham. In the Scriptures it is God who commands Noah to build the boat. In the cinema version some
guy called The Creator tells Noah to make this boat 300 cubits, with three decks. If you cannot make it
into a theatre, any interested person can still view the ark in three dimensions on their computer.
By the end of this movie I was not sure why God, or the “Creator” chose Noah’s family to be the only
humans left. Maybe He should have started over?????
And if you’re looking for British car content, perhaps the question would be, if this guy could make a
vessel that didn’t leak maybe the designers of the MG could have learned something from him.

April 1, 2014 Meeting Notes held at Conroy’s Pub
There were 20 in attendance at this meeting.
James began the meeting. He introduced Jim and Carol Baustian to the others present, as it has been a couple of years since they’ve been to a meeting.
James reported that he and Seth have worked on Seth’s MGB for many hours replacing the engine. It is Seth’s mode of transportation so he came to this meeting by bus. Other news is that Brian and Bobbie Francis have purchased a home and are packing and preparing to make the big move. James, Gordon and probably others have helped move some items already. They have until the 15th to get everything moved. Mark Canady and Bill have been working on James’ MINI body with repairs and paint, and James has been working on Mark’s MINI engine and parts for the inside of his MINI.
Seth indicated that he set up an Instagram account for the members of the club to post pictures on. If the ap is added to a smart phone then it is very easy to take a photo and post for others to see. To access the account enter lawrence_all_british with the password qwerty123456.
Brian has a DVD he’d like to show to the club so James said he’d bring his laptop for the next meeting to do that. Brian expressed his and Bobbie’s thrill at getting their new home. This is the first time Bobbie has owned a home. It’s a 1996 ranch home with basement, built on six acres. It has a workshop too, as well as a garden building for Bobbie.
The Boot Sale that was held recently in Mark’s garage in Topeka had about 30 there.
Upcoming Events:
Bill – Racing on May 3rd in Hastings, Nebraska.
James – Swap Meet at Douglas County Fairgrounds, May 2-4.
James – Will talk to Sally at Brits about an event downtown in front and behind the store.
Ken – KC All British car show, Labor Day weekend. Volunteers are needed to direct people and set up. John indicated that Alfa Romeo and Volvo clubs are participating this year as well.
Midwest 7s group, June 5-8 in Cuba, Missouri.
Dave was unable to be at the meeting as he was at class. A machinist from Western Electric was to demonstrate boring holes and he was looking forward to that.
Respectfully submitted,
Susan McKenzie
