Our residents, their families, staff and vendors all met and mingled in what I hope is the beginning of a new and bright era here at the Atrium. My purpose is to treat everyone we interact with at the Atrium with the care and respect they’re hoping for. THIS MONTH’S silver star SELMA GOLDFARB is month’s Silver Star is Selma Goldfarb. She’s been at the Atrium for a few short months. She always has a smile on her face and is always ready to join in. She loves a good card game too. She liked to cook an eye roast when she cooked. She was also a secretary at Booth Memorial hospital in New York, taking care of babies. Her favorite time in school was when she got the lead in a school play and sang “I’m Just a Girl Who Cain’t Say No” from “Oklahoma.” Her favorite subject in school was history and her favorite trip was to Israel, which she found very interesting. Her parents are from Romania and Lithunia. She had four brothers and has been married to Elliot for 65 years. ey have four children and three grandchildren. Her favorite flowers are orchids. And she loves opera and the color blue. JOIN US THIS MONTH FOR featured events If you are out and about please join us for Alfonso on May 4 and 16. He’s everyone’s favorite entertainer. He really gets us all up to dance. We will also have Marie doing her bead classes on May 8 and 22. Steven Slesinger will give a lecture on New York at Night on May 17. Gary Samms will head up our Mother’s Day celebration on May 11. Like Alfonso, he gets us dancing. We will be trying out a new singer on May 19. Her name is Cathy Rollins. We’re also going to have a Royal Wedding Party early in the morning of Prince Harry’s Royal Nuptials on May 19. Red Nose Day will be here on the 24th so be ready to get your picture taken with a red nose. EVENT RECAP aprilIn April we had Passover celebrations; we also did the Book Club with Linda Anton, at which she discussed the Roosevelts. We had Norman Fladjman come in to give a discussion on his Holocaust survivor memories. It was a very moving event.
We also went to the Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach to see the Isabelle de Borchgrave Paper Art Show. The residents loved all the amazing fashion brought to life in paper. After that we went to Prime Catch to have lunch on the Intracoastal. It was a beautiful day. We also are continuing our Art Classes with Norberto Granja. We’re learning so much from him and our art work can be seen on Facebook. We also participated in the Who Inspires You campaign. It was so nice and we had so much fun doing it, the results of which can be seen on a board in our Lobby. Thank you to the staff and residents who participated. Our “Meet the New Sheriff ” event with new Executive Director Tameka McMillan Brown.

THIS MONTH’S heart heroHOSPITALITY, EXCELLENCE, APPRECIATION, RESPECT, TEAMWORK
Our HEART Hero this month is FAITH CAMPBELL. Faith has been at the Atrium for approximately a year. She works the 6-2 shift in Memory Care. Originally from Jamaica, she’s been here for six or seven years. She has three children and no pets. In her spare time she likes to do housework and go to church. She loves everything about her job. She likes taking care of the residents and would like them to know that she is a simple person who loves her job.
