Running a marketing campaign through Facebook can take it one step further, producing quality leads
with extremely high chances of conversion- if you know how to work it. All too often, companies take
shortcuts in trying to get ahead with their campaigns. Avoiding these costly mistakes to ensure you
aren’t hemorrhaging money on that shiny new campaign.
Targeting too Large an Audience
Thanks to their huge database of information, Facebook can deliver your message to just about any specified group of people, which is one of the great benefits of running a campaign with them. It is all about whom you are after and how you target them.
If your parameters are too broad, you are sure to be wasting money on people who won’t take a second glance at your ad. For example, if you are a wedding planner marketing to all women ages 17-35, you are going to be spending a ton of money for a small return. Tightening up those search parameters to women ages 25-35 who are recently engaged and what happens? Less cost and more ROI.
It seems obvious in that example, but this scenario plays out in a thousand different ways, each one of them as detrimental as the last. Think about your audience, is it a regional audience? How old is your target? What are their purchasing habits? Do they have recent life events that would influence their purchasing of your product? Hone in on your target as much as possible to be sure they are seeing the right ad at the right time, and you are guaranteed a trim and successful campaign.
Using Poor Quality Images
A quality image doesn’t necessarily mean the image is HD 1080p Hi- def fit for retina display, although if your readers find themselves squinting at your article thinking “Is that an elbow or a piece of ham?”, they’re likely going to forget your message pretty quickly.
A good quality Image is what draws attention in a Facebook ad. Examples of poor quality images are images with too much text, boring pictures, or poorly chosen color schemes. For example, if your image details your special offer, including brands and pricing and how long the sale will last and your url and logo and- it may as well not exist to the user.
On the other hand, an ad with a bright orange “50% OFF” and a picture of a cat with a birthday hat on is sure to catch the eye, as the user thinks “What is going on here?” With Facebook marketing, the difference between a high CTR and a low one can simply be a double take. Getting the user to look at your ad and engage with it automatically increases brand recognition and your chances of getting that click.
Not Keeping Track of Their Results
Often confident in their ad campaign, many first time marketers fall into the “Rotisserie Trap”. Just set it and forget it! What could be easier, right? You are guaranteed to lose money if you run a loose ad campaign like this. Even the best campaigns take refining.
Do some A/B testing with different copy, different images, and different targeting methods, try it all. It may take some time, but if you find out you have the most unbelievable conversion rates when you target males aged 30-37 who have a bachelor’s degree, and live in Los Angeles, isn’t it worth it? Keeping track of your results and adjusting your campaign as needed keeps it clean, with no waste.
Running Generic Ads
You may think you are being smart and saving money by running an ad with copy such as “Are you a guy who breathes air? Then we have the thing for you!” That is a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the point. The ad is corny and shallow, and you can’t get much worse than corny advertising.
Successful campaigns target a finite audience with an identifiable “problem”, a problem which your services or products fix. The user must feel you are talking directly to them, engaging with only them, or they will write you off immediately. If you have to spend the time personalizing an ad for three different services and three different age groups, then so be it. What matters here is that you get the highest ROI. The money spent creating specific copy will pale in comparison to the raise in your conversion rates.
Not Engaging Your Audience
Facebook is your chance to get personal with your audience. Most people are not going to go to your site, find the “contact” tab and write you a nice little email detailing their questions and concerns about your product. Not going to happen.
They will, however, take the familiar route of writing a comment on one of your images or product pages. It is in a format they recognize and have already personalized. Giving your service a voice with the people in a public format they love to use has more value than nearly any ad campaign. It allows you to get into their world and become relevant. You can address concerns publicly, answering the questions of not only the one asking them, but the dozens of others who thought it without posting it.
If you are not responding to comments and answering questions, they will simply stop engaging.
According to the CDC, 4.6 million children between the ages of 4 and 17 have been diagnosed with ADHD as of 2011. As more medications are produced to combat this rather widespread mental disorder, it can be hard to tell which medication is right for you or your loved ones. Here we will compare two of the more prominent medications used to treat ADHD sypmtoms: Adderall and Strattera. We will outline the the effectiveness of each drug and any potential side effects, as well as groups who should avoid drugs such as these.
Strattera and Adderall are medications commonly used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). They’re both designed to help improve your attention span while decreasing hyperactivity and impulsiveness. Though no side-by-side studies have been conducted into the effectiveness of one drug over the other, both are shown to be effective in treating the symptoms of ADHD. Although they’re both used primarily for treatment of ADHD, these are two very different types of medication. Adderall is a central nervous system stimulant containing amphetamine and dextroamphetamine. Strattera is a selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor containing atomoxetine hydrochloride. Each medication comes with it's own risks and side effects. Interactions with other drugs can also change how the medications work. Therefore it is important to keep your doctor informed to any and all medications, supplements or vitamins you are taking, in order to avoid potential interactions.
Adderall Adderall is classified as a controlled substance by the federal government, as it is a habit forming amphetamine. It has more of a tendency to be abused, and therefore it's use should be monitored carefully. Potential side effects with stimulant drugs like Adderall include dizziness, headache, dry mouth, loss of appetite, weight loss, mood swings, nervousness, and insomnia. More potentially serious side effects have also been noted with the use of Adderall, including high blood pressure, increased heart rate, circulation problems, blurred vision, and slowed growth in children. In rare cases, Adderall has been linked to risk of seizures, stroke, heart attack, and new or worsening psychiatric problems.
Because of it's health risks and drug interactions, there are many people who should avoid taking Adderall. These groups include those that have recently taken MAOI inhibitors, those who suffer from anxiety and those who have a history of substanceabuse. Additionally, Adderall is not recommended for those that have heart disease, hardening of the arteries, or high blood pressure. Those with hyperthyroidism or glaucoma should also avoid taking Adderall.
Overdosing on Adderall can cause tremors, confusion, and psychosis. It can lead to cardiovascular problems, gastrointestinal problems, or even death. Should you wish to stop taking Adderall, talk to your doctor about how to do so safely, as there are withdrawal symptoms. These include depression, sleep problems, and extreme fatigue, and are less likely to happen if you are taking your medication as directed.
Strattera In general, Strattera's side effects are more mild than those of it's stimulant counterpart. Although, according to DailyMed, short-term clinical trials have shown that Strattera increases the risk of suicidal thoughts in children and teens. While there were no actual suicides during these trials, young people taking Strattera require careful monitoring. Straterra is non habit forming. The drug is unlikely to be abused, and you can stop using Strattera without tapering off. Strattera comes with it's own unique risks and side effects. Talk with your doctor immediately if you are taking the drug and experience impulsive behavior, panic attacks, insomnia, mania, suicidal thoughts, irritability, anxiety, or hostility. Potential side effects while taking Strattera include mood swings, dizziness, dry mouth, constipation, fatigue, nausea and decreased appetite. Some more serious side effects have been noted with the use of Strattera. These include slowed growth in children, trouble urinating, allergic reactions such as hives and swelling, long lasting erections, and damage to the liver. There is potential risk for heart related problems while using Strattera, especially in those with a history of cardiovascular conditions. There’s a potential for serious problems if you also take decongestants, MAOIs, or blood pressure medications. You shouldn’t take Strattera if you are pregnant or breast feeding, or if you’ve been diagnosed with glaucoma.
Both Adderall and Strattera have been shown to be effective in treating ADHD symptoms. Both come with a fair number of potential side effects, some of which can be serious. Before taking them or giving them to your child, discuss all the potential benefits and risks with your doctor, and continue monitoring during their use.
