Jonah 1-4, Job 41, Mat 12
Jonah 1-4, Job 41, Mat 12
1 Now the word of the Lord came vnto Ionah the sonne of
Amittai, saying, 2 Arise, goe to Nineueh that great citie, and cry
against it: for their wickednes is come vp before me. 3 But
Ionah rose vp to flee vnto Tarshish, from the presence of the
Lord, and went downe to Ioppa, and he found a ship going to
Tarshish: so he payed the fare thereof, and went downe into it,
to goe with them vnto Tarshish from the presence of the Lord.
4 But the Lord sent out a great winde into the sea, and there was
a mightie tempest in the sea, so that the ship was like to be
broken. 5 Then the Mariners were afraid, and cried euery man
vnto his god, and cast foorth the wares that were in the ship,
into the sea, to lighten it of them: but Ionah was gone downe
into the sides of the ship, and hee lay, and was fast asleepe.
Jonah 1-4, Job 41, Mat 12
6 So the shipmaster came to him, and said vnto him;
What meanest thou, O sleeper? Arise, call vpon thy
God, if so be that God wil thinke vpon vs, that we
perish not. 7 And they said euery one to his fellow;
Come, and let vs cast lots, that we may know for
whose cause this euil is vpon vs. So they cast lots, and
the lot fell vpon Ionah. 8 Then said they vnto him, Tel
vs, we pray thee, for whose cause this euill is vpon vs:
What is thine occupation? and whence commest thou?
What is thy countrey? and of what people art thou?
Jonah 1-4, Job 41, Mat 12
9 And hee said vnto them, I am an Hebrew, and I feare
the Lord the God of heauen, which hath made the sea,
and the dry land. 10 Then were the men exceedingly
afraid, and saide vnto him; Why hast thou done this?
(for the men knew that he fled from the presence of
the Lord, because he had told them.) 11 Then said they
vnto him, What shall we doe vnto thee, that the sea
may be calme vnto vs? (for the sea wrought and was
tempestuous.) 12 And he said vnto them, Take me vp,
and cast mee foorth into the sea; so shall the sea be
calme vnto you: for I know that for my sake this great
tempest is vpon you.
Jonah 1-4, Job 41, Mat 12
13 Neuerthelesse the men rowed hard to bring it to the land,
but they could not: for the sea wrought, and was tempestuous
against them. 14 Wherefore they cried vnto the Lord, and
said, We beseech thee, O Lord, We beseech thee, let vs not
perish for this mans life, and lay not vpon vs, innocent blood:
for thou, O Lord, hast done as it pleased thee. 15 So they
tooke vp Ionah, and cast him foorth into the sea, and the sea
ceased from her raging. 16 Then the men feared the Lord
exceedingly, and offered a sacrifice vnto the Lord, and made
vowes. 17 Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow
vp Ionah, and Ionah was in the belly of the fish three dayes,
and three nights.
Jonah 1-4, Job 41, Mat 12
Jonah 2:1 Then Ionah prayed vnto the Lord his
God, out of the fishes belly, 2 And said, I cried by
reason of mine affliction vnto the Lord, and hee
heard mee; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou
heardest my voyce. 3 For thou hadst cast mee
into the deepe, in the middest of the Seas, and the
floods compassed me about: all thy billowes & thy
waues passed ouer me. 4 Then I said, I am cast
out of thy sight; yet I will looke againe toward thy
holy Temple. 5 The waters compassed mee about
euen to the soule; the depth closed mee round
about; the weedes were wrapt about my head.
Jonah 1-4, Job 41, Mat 12
Jonah 2:6 I went downe to the bottomes of the
mountaines: the earth with her barres was about
me for euer: yet hast thou brought vp my life from
corruption, O Lord my God. 7 When my soule
fainted within mee, I remembred the Lord, and
my prayer came in vnto thee, into thine holy
Temple. 8 They that obserue lying vanities,
forsake their owne mercy. 9 But I wil sacrifice
vnto thee with the voice of thanksgiuing, I will pay
that that I haue vowed: saluation is of the Lord.
10 And the Lord spake vnto the fish, and it
vomited out Ionah vpon the drie land.

Where did the story of Jonah and the
Whale come from?
Jonah 1:17 Now the Lord had
prepared a great fish to swallow vp
Ionah, and Ionah was in the belly of
the fish three dayes, and three nights.
Jonah 1-4, Job 41, Mat 12
In a literal sense, could it be that Jonas is not
Jonah, and the Whale is not the great fish?
Could there be a spiritual lesson here?
Jer 51:34 Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon
hath deuoured me, he hath crushed me; he hath
made me an emptie vessell: hee hath swallowed
mee vp like a dragon; he hath filled his bellie with
my delicates, he hath cast me out.
Jonah 1-4, Job 41, Mat 12
Mat 12:40 For as Ionas was three dayes and three
nights in the whales belly: so shal the sonne of man be
three daies and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Eze 32:2 Sonne of man, take vp a lamentation for
Pharaoh king of Egypt, and say vnto him; Thou art
like a young lyon of the nations, & thou art as a
whale in the seas: and thou camest forth with thy
riuers, and troubledst the waters with thy feet, and
fouledst their riuers.
Jonah 1-4, Job 41, Mat 12
Mat 12:40 For as Ionas was three dayes and three
nights in the whales belly: so shal the sonne of man be
three daies and three nights in the heart of the earth.
What is the Spirit saying to the churches?
As Israel (God’s people) is being nourished by the
visible head of the Babylonian church (antichrist) so
shall the son of man experience the time of death.
(And then God shall cast them out and throw them into
His winepress see Rev 11)
Jonah 1-4, Job 41, Mat 12
What can we learn from this parable? What is the
natural lesson, what is the spiritual lesson?
Jonah: Jonah did not follow God’s
instructions, God had a great fish
swallow Jonah, God had the fish
vomit Jonah on to land, Jonah told
Ninevah what God instructed, God
had mercy on Ninevah.
Jonah 1-4, Job 41, Mat 12
Is Jesus Christ confused as many scholars think? Whale? Great
Fish? Or, is Jesus Christ revealing a prophecy about the
antichrist in his parable in the book of Jonah? A whale can
describe a giant fish just as a whale can refer to a large creature.
Definition of WHALE (Source Webster’s Dictionary)

whale of a good time>
Origin of WHALE
Middle English, from Old English hwæl; akin to Old High German hwal

not come vnto vs: for wee haue made lies our refuge, and vnder
falsehood haue we hid our selues: 16 Therefore thus saith the Lord

shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.
Ezekiel 29:3
Speak, and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, Pharaoh
king of Egypt, the great dragon that lieth in the midst of his rivers, which hath
said, My river is mine own, and I have made it for myself.
Jonah 1-4, Job 41, Mat 12
Conclusion:
All textual critics are consumed by the spiritual
nourishment of the papacy/Leviathan. There is no
understanding apart from the pure Word of God.
God will have mercy on those who repent and
believe in his Word. This is the spiritual lesson in
the book of Jonah. This cannot be discerned by the
molten calf/idols of Babylon known as the critical
texts.
