Zia is the authorof the cri>cally acclaimed novel, In the Light of What We Know, which won the pres>gious James Tait BlackPrize, Britain's oldest literary prize. Zia was born in a Bangladeshi village and moved to England with hisfamily, living first in a squat before being allocated project housing in inner London. Zia studied at BalliolCollege, Oxford, and at Cambridge and Yale universi>es. AZer a short s>nt as an investment banker atGoldman, Sachs, he spent several years as a financial services lawyer, an>-corrup>on ac>vist andinterna>onal human rights lawyer.
