Your Safety : Your Responsibility
Outdoor activities can involve certain
risks. Make sure that you have the skills
and abilities required for the activity you
choose. It is important to know the risks
inherent to this activity, to respect your
limits and to use appropriate equipment.
For more information, we invite you to
consult our Web site at sepaq.com.
REGULATIONSTo contribute to improving the quality of the park experience, an entry fee was established by the government. You must always carry your receipt or your annual card during your visit.
To preserve the natural riches for future generations, it is prohibited to remove natural elements (animals, plants, dead wood, rocks, etc.).
The flora is sensitive to being trampled. If we multiply the impacts of thousands of visitors, it’s easy to understand why it is mandatory to stay on the hiking trails.
Nature exhibits exemplary equilibrium. The animals find everything they need to eat here, and that is why feeding wildlife is prohibited. In this respect, it is also prohibited to leave food or garbage unsupervised. Keep them in your car.
Domestic animals are prohibited in Québec’s national parks. But guide dogs and service dogs accompanied by their foster families are admitted. However, these dogs must be easily identifiable, wearing the Mira scarf or harness. Those in charge of the animal must carry the foundation’s letter of accreditation.
It’s great to enjoy an authentic natural environment that is clean and healthy! Carry out your garbage, leave it in the containers provided, and take home any harmful substances, such as soap, oil, combustibles or pesticides.
For the preservation of the milieu and for your safety, only a certain number of activities are allowed in these parks. Plan your visit and first check the list of activities that are allowed in the parks you plan to visit.
HOME TO REMARKABLE NATURAL AND ARCHEOLOGICAL TREASURESParc national du Lac-Témiscouata, the latest addition to Québec’s provincial park network, is a haven
in the heart of the Notre-Dame Mountains. Nestled along the shores of Lac Témiscouata, the largest,
most majestic lake in the region, the park is home to remarkable natural features and numerous
exceptional archaeological sites. Over the last three years, the Sépaq team has been working to
establish the facilities and infrastructure to give visitors access to these treasures, providing an
experience imbued with the spirit of this unique place. Be among the first to take part in all the new
discovery activities that showcase the relationship between the people and the land across the
millennia. Looking forward to seeing you here!

It’s so amazing to be able to both preserve our history and showcase it in a single activity. For me, uncovering the remnants of a prehistoric site will always be an incredible experience.
IMPORTANTIf there are four people in your group, you can reserve a private dig session with our archaeologist outside of thescheduled time slots. A unique opportunity to learn directly from a professional under exceptional conditions.

SHARE THE ROAD!The speed limits on the park roads areestablished to ensure your safety andthat of the park’s animals. The slower speedsalso let you to enjoy the scenery to the fullest.
Almost the entire park is home to a deer herd.Because the herd is quite large, it is very commonto see them crossing the roads. So please driveslowly and be careful!
RESPONSIBLE BOATINGWithin the 200-metre band of Lac Témiscouata that is part of the park, the speed limit for boats is10 km/h.
At Anse-à-William, boats are required to tie up atthe dock and not land on the beach.
Please be considerate of other park users!
HELP US PROTECT THE LAKEPay particular attention to invasive species. All wa-tercraft must be washed at the free washing sta-tion located at the entrance to the Anse-à-Williamcampground. Washing your boat will help reducethe risk of introducing harmful species to the lake.
The shores of Lac Témiscouata are very beautifulbut they are also very vulnerable. Keep your waketo a minimum and prevent shoreline erosion by re-ducing your speed. In addition, observe the postedrules in areas where landing is prohibited (such ason Île Notre-Dame).

I SUPPORT HISTORICALPRESERVATION!
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO IF YOU FIND AN ARTEFACT?Archaeological sites, and the artefacts (objects and remnants) found at these sites, are an important shared heritage. Theyare keys to understanding of our recent and distant past. It is only by studying all the evidence and signs that archaeologistsare able to decipher our history, like reading the words of a vast manuscript buried in the ground. If an artefact disappears,a small piece of our past vanishes with it.
Archaeological sites are protected under the Cultural Heritage Act and it is the park’s mission to ensure their preservation. To accomplish this mission, we ask visitors to follow a few simple rules:
By showing respect for these traces of the past, you will help protect our shared heritage. Contact: Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata at 418-855-5508
YOUR HELP IS IMPORTANT TO US
• The preliminary inventories in the park have identified 62 species of dragonflies! • During construction of the park facilities, 13 new archaeological sites were found and preserved!• When the Montagne-du-Fourneau Trail was built, 21 new sites with rare or uncommon plants were discovered and protected!
• Approximately 80% of the Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata is within the territory of the largest deer herd in the Bas-St-Laurent region. This part of the park is the equivalent of 20,000 football fields, almost 140 square kilometres!
• When I reach adulthood, I develop beautiful black and white plumage. • I often nest in the top branches of tall pines, but you shouldn’t get closer than 300 metres from my nest.• I'm the largest bird in the park, but I’m very sensitive to disturbance.• My species almost went extinct and it is still vulnerable.• Because I’m very good at catching fish, you’ll often see me around the lakes in the summer.• I often spend the winter further south, but some of us stay here during the winter and feast on animal carcasses. • Females can have a wingspan of up to 2.5 metres and weigh more than 5 kilograms.
DID YOU KNOW THAT…?
WHO AM I?
I am the bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus)
• Do not collect or keep any artefacts. • If you see an artefact or other archaeological evidence of ancient inhabitants on the surface, leave it in place, make note of the location and inform the park staff. This information is very important.
• Do not dig or disturb the soil surface.• Do not use metal detectors.• Please don’t hesitate to tell the park staff aboutany incidents that could damage the archaeologicalheritage.

DISCOVER THE FONDS PARCS QUÉBEC COLLECTION AND DO YOUR PART FOR CONSERVATION!
Donations to Fonds Parcs Québec serve to support the conservation of Québec’s national parks. Through the funding of research, knowledge acquisition, and species population monitoring and inventory, vital data are obtained to particularly safeguard plant and animal species.
The collection is available at the Boutique Nature shop.
One dollar will be donated to Fonds Parcs Québec for each item purchased.
fondsparcsquebec.com
Parcs Québec has created a program called De la nature à la nature (From Nature, for Nature). Through this greeninitiative, the money raised from the sale of the wood cut during creation of the park’s facilities is reinvested inconservation efforts. These funds have made it possible for the Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata to undertakeprojects such as bald eagle research, various archaeological studies, and monitoring the deer herd in collaborationwith the Université du Québec à Rimouski.
These projects are crucial to learning more about the park’s lands and wildlife in order to better protect them andshowcase all the park has to offer.
FROM NATURE, FOR NATURE
Some of the furniture, outdoor facilities and even the towering columns of the Visitors Centre at the Petit-lac-Touladi and the footbridge are made from trees cut during development of the park. The boards were sawn andfinished on site!
DID YOU KNOW THAT…?
The dwarf form of the lake whitefish that has recently reproduced in Rivière Touladi seems to be an emergingspecies. The Parc national du Lac-Témiscouata and its partners have teamed up to monitor several biological andharvest indicators on Rivière Touladi, the only known spawning ground for this new population.
