1Clemson Bike DepotThe objective of this project is to create a dual-functioning structure, with multi-unit housing and a bike depot sharing the site. Within this program the challenge was to examine existing bike share systems and methods of pre-fabricated housing. Along with this, inspiration was drawn from a previous analogical investigation.

This project was generated in response to a competition initiated after the devastating 2010 Haitian earthquake. Intended to be a boarding school in the heart of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, it incorporated dormitories, apartments, office space, classrooms, an auditorium, library, cafeteria, greenhouse, and parking. Designed in collaboration with Ashley Colquhoun, the design strived to create a comfortable space for living as well as learning. The overall aesthetic was intended to mimic vernacular architecture, while being able to be built in a modular fashion. Each floor has a programmatic uniformity, increasing in privacy vertically [1- offices 2- classrooms 3- dorms 4- apartments] Two walls being structural, prefabricated steel frames, and the other two voids facing the prevailing winds, to increase circulation in the hot, humid climate. The interior is a large, centralized atrium space sheltered from the outside world to create a safe zone in a hostile culture and climate for the young girls to live and learn comfortably. It strived to use sustainable, familiar materials; steel framing, concrete flooring and walls, with bamboo railings, screening, and flooring in the living quarters.

3Greenville Folk Art MuseumThis project was primarily an exercise in abstract modeling. Beginning with palimpsest drawings of the site, as well as a mechanical drawing we began by creating abstract models based off of the line drawings. When the program was introduced, we were asked to combine two of the models to create a museum combining galleries, retail, and artists living/working studios.

A homage to the way which water affects our physical environment, this building for classes in the old Naval Yard of Charleston, SC works to unite the educational facilites with the rented business space with a central, light capturing atrium space.

1Savoir FaireSavoir Faire, in essence, means to be an expert at something; a necessity, then for a quintessential brewery. Here, the brewery works to fully integrate the residential neighbors with a community garden, as well as working to be a sustainable operation with an in-house hydroponic hops garden. The design aims to be a symbiotic relationship of business, community, and craft.

The concept for this shadow box, designed as a gift for Janet Marie Smith, director of planning and development for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was to approach baseball from a point of view that would get to the essence of the sport. At it's heart, it is as simple as having a ball and a bat, which can be played by anyone, anywhere. The beauty is in the simplicity of elements which then become a much more complex and engaging. This box aims to speak to this; the derivation of the form came from the simplest of items: string from the heart of a baseball. By slicing into it, it revealed the layers within even this most basic piece of equipment for the sport. Spatial relationships were then extrapolated from the string of the ball, which were manipulated and layered to create a depth of layers for the final shadow box.
