What is InternetThe Internet is a global system of
interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet protocol suite (often called TCP/IP, although not all applications use TCP) to serve billions of users worldwide.
Who owns the InternetThe simple answer to that question is
nobody; and everybody. If you pay for an Internet connection you can consider yourself a shareholder.
How do you connect to the internet
Before you can connect to the Internet and access the World Wide Web, you need to have certain equipment. In brief, you must have a computer (preferably running an up-to-date operating system); a modem and access to a telephone line or a local area network (LAN) that is in turn connected to the Internet; and connection software that will allow you to establish an account with a service provider and access the Internet.
TCP/IPThe Transmission Control Protocol (TCP)
is one of the core protocols of the Internet Protocol Suite. TCP is one of the two original components of the suite, complementing the Internet Protocol (IP), and therefore the entire suite is commonly referred to as TCP/IP
