Welcome to the 2012 Under 9 through Under 11 Junior Cup Festival! We’re very excited that your team is sharing in this experience with us. We hope this is one of many CYSA Cal North Cups in which your team will participate as they continue their journey through youth soccer. Three divisions of play will be represented, including State Cup for the highest level competitive teams, Association Cup for the entry-level and mid-level competitive teams and Founders’ Cup for our Recreational teams. We expect great competition with the best of sportsmanship on display. We place a premium on positive behavior and the expectation is that coaches, players and spectators will display nothing but acceptable behavior on the field as well as on the sidelines. All Under 9 through Under 11 Cal North Cup games are being played at the Cherry Island Soccer Complex. Our authorized apparel vendor, AMP Printing, is scheduled to be on hand to sell official cup tee shirts and sweatshirts. Other approved vendors will be present to enhance your experience while at Cal North Jr Cup. We encourage you to visit their pavilions to see what they have to offer. Included in this packet you will find the following:

1. Be sure to read and understand the Team Instructions and Requirements.

2. PLEASE refer to the Cal North Junior Cup Festival Directives and Rules. These rules can be found on the Cal North website as well as in the Cal North Team Manual. It is highly recommended that you download and carry these rules with you in your team binder throughout the Junior Cup Festival competition. You will be held responsible for knowing and following these rules. These rules are the rules that each applicant team agreed to abide by at the time they completed the team’s Cal North Cup application. Don’t let ignorance of the rules create a negative situation for your team.

3. Please remember that weather can change the original play date to an alternate

date. Teams must be available for any posted play date.

4. Although it is an excellent source of information, DO NOT RELY SOLELY on the Cal North web site for up-to-date information. It is important that you call the hotline number to get last minute information (the hotline number will be posted on the website). This is especially important if the weather is an issue.

For questions regarding Cal North Under 9 – Under 11 Junior Cup Festival, consult the appropriate Cup Representative from your team’s District. Their contact information can be located under the “COMMITTEE” link on the cup page.

Teams participating in Cal North Cup events are advised that due to an increasing number of complaints and incidents regarding inappropriate behavior on the sidelines at soccer matches, the Cal North Board of Directors has instructed the referees to remind each team of PIM 10-3 section B of the Cal North Policy Interpretation Memoranda and to inform the team officials during their pre-game instructions to the teams that it is Cal North’s intent to enforce this policy. All spectators should be advised accordingly as it is the coach who is ultimately held accountable for the behavior of the spectators associated with his or her team. Please help us enhance everyone’s enjoyment of the game by reminding your team members and spectators of their obligation to abide by this procedure.

PIM 10-3 RULES OF PLAY

B. Coaching from the sidelines, giving direction to one’s own team on points of strategy and position, is permitted provided:

I) No mechanical devices are used.

II) The tone of voice is informative and not a harangue.

III) No coach, substitute, or player is to be anywhere but at his/her bench area during the game. A team’s bench area shall be that area one (1) yard from the touchline and extending to ten (10) yards, one way, from the half-line only.

IV) No coach, substitute, player or spectator is to make derogatory remarks or gestures to the referees, other players, substitutes, or spectators.

V) No coach, substitute, or player is to use profanity.

VI) No coach, substitute, player, or spectator is to incite, in any manner, disruptive behavior of any kind.

The penalty for violating PIM 10-3, Section B may include ejection from the game and disciplinary action by the Board of Directors of this Association.

Serving Suspensions in Cal North Cup Play It is the team's responsibility to ensure that any individuals who are ineligible to participate due to suspensions from Cal North Cup matches in previous seasons or from a suspension that was earned in a Cal North league game, tournament game or game at a District Event are properly disclosed to the Cup Staff and that the individuals do not participate in any Cal North Cup matches until their suspension has been served. Suspension earned in Cal North Cup matches carry over from one season to the next season and the suspensions earned in Cal North Cup matches may be served only during Cal North Cup matches, Region IV Championships or in US Youth Soccer National Championship Series or Presidents Cup games. NO EXCEPTIONS! Accordingly the individuals included on the Cal North Cup Suspensions to be Served list are NOT eligible to participate in any 2012-2013 Cal North Cup events or US Youth Soccer Cup events until they have served their suspension according to these requirements. Individuals serving suspensions from league or tournament games (including District Cups) must serve their suspensions in their next Cal North game, including Cup games. When the team representative checks in the team, he/she needs to inform the Cup Official at the check-in that the team has an individual who needs to serve a suspension. If the team has the member pass for a suspended individual in their possession, the pass must be turned in to a Cup representative at the time the team officials reports to cup staff prior to the team’s first game. The member pass will be returned to you by Cup Staff when the suspended individual has served his/her entire suspension and is eligible to participate. If your League or District are retaining the pass until they receive confirmation that the games have been served in cup, the team must provide a form from their District or League Disciplinary Committee so that the a staff member can complete the form to verify all games served by the individual and the team can submit it to their League or District. It is important to note that allowing a suspended player or coach to participate in a Cal North Cup match or US Youth Soccer cup match prior to their suspension being served in its entirety will result in the team forfeiting any game in which that individual participated. Forfeiting one game automatically disqualifies a team from Cal North Cup and there are substantial financial penalties assessed for the forfeiture of Cal North Cup games.

ONE HOUR PRIOR TO YOUR FIRST SCHEDULED GAME ONE REGISTERED TEAM OFFICIAL (COACH, ASSISTANT COACH, or TEAM MANAGER) MUST REPORT TO THE CUP HEADQUARTERS TENT AT CHERRY

ISLAND SOCCER COMPLEX TO COMPLETE THE CREDENTIALS CHECK IN (PLAYERS DO NOT NEED TO ATTEND THIS CHECK IN, THEY WILL BE CHECKED IN BY REFEREES ON THE FIELD) DUE TO SPACE CONSTRAINTS PLEASE SEND ONLY ONE REGISTERED TEAM OFFICIAL TO THE HEADQUARTERS TENT

1) One hour before your first match of the weekend, check in with Cal North Cup Festival Staff to report the team’s arrival and confirm that the team has in its possession the official US Club Soccer approved team roster, the US

Club Soccer member passes as approved by US Club Soccer, signed Medical and Liability Release form for each player as approved by US Club Soccer.

2) Report the names of any registered team officials and/or players on the team’s roster who are serving a

suspension. The member pass(es) will be returned to a registered team official once the suspension has been

served.

3) Sign the game card roster verifying it is correct.

4) Receive any instructions, schedule changes or announcements from Cup Festival Staff

5) Pick up the souvenir cup pins for the team. Each team is required to have their team binder in their possession during the course of the Cal North Jr Cup Festival event including during travel to and from the games and on the sidelines during each warm up and game. Team credentials should be securely filed in a 3 ring-binder. The Cup Staff must be given immediate access to the team binder immediately upon request. Team binders must contain the following documents:

1) The most current version of the team’s official 2012/2013 US Club Soccer roster which includes any added, transferred and released players and that has been validated by US Club Soccer.

2) A consent for medical treatment / hold harmless statement must be signed by the player’s parent or legal guardian

in original ink. THESE FORMS MUST BE PRESENT AT EVERY TEAM FUNCTION, INCLUDING THROUGHOUT THE

DURATION OF ALL CUP GAMES. 3) A US Club Soccer member pass for the 2012/2013 season which has been validated by US Club Soccer. Each

member pass must be laminated. Individuals whose member passes are not laminated will not be permitted to play. A maximum of four team officials with validated member passes will be permitted on the team sidelines in the team’s technical area during the game.

4) Referees will conduct a pre-game inspection of the players’ uniform and equipment and will ensure that each player

and each registered team official has a valid member pass before allowing the individual to participate in the game.

TEAMS WILL FORFEIT ANY CAL NORTH CUP GAME IN WHICH AN INELIGIBLE OR IMPROPERLY CREDENTIALED PLAYER PARTICIPATES. THE TEAM WILL BE DISQUALFIED FOR FURTHER CUP PLAY AND ANY DISQUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS AND REGISTERED TEAM OFFICIALS WILL FACE ADDITIONAL DISCIPLINARY ACTION.

There must be a validated member pass for each registered team official and each player registered to the team. Each member pass must be laminated. Individuals whose member passes are

For the Cal North Junior Cup Festival, we will be operating 20 fields at the Cherry Island Soccer Complex (which is usually a 10 field complex). This means there will be only limited onsite parking at Cherry Island.

We will be using alternative offsite parking at Gibson Ranch County Park which is approximately a mile away from Cherry Island and will providing bus service for the short ride to Cherry Island.

We will have a player/passenger drop off zone set up at Cherry Island to allow them to remain at Cherry while the driver parks at Gibson Ranch. Players may be dropped off only with a responsible adult.

To access the drop off zone, enter at the Cherry Island entrance and purchase your daily parking permit. Staff will distribute directional maps to the Gibson Ranch Parking area as you enter Cherry Island.

After dropping off your passengers, exit Cherry Island by turning left on 28th Street. Proceed north to Elverta Rd. Turn left on Elverta Rd. and right at the Gibson Ranch Park entrance.

Proceed to the kiosk and display the Cherry Island parking permit where a “no cost paper ticket” will be issued to you. This is for counting purposes and needs to be shown for reentry. Parking will be North of Gibson Lake. Attendants will direct you.

A shuttle bus will return you to Cherry Island. The same bus will return you to your car as necessary. PLEASE ALLOW ADEQUATE TIME TO ENSURE YOUR PLAYER ARRIVES TO THEIR GAME ON TIME.

If you choose, you may skip the drop off process at Cherry Island and drive directly to Gibson Ranch and shuttle where all passengers will be shuttled to Cherry Island. Gibson Ranch parking attendants will sell the same Cherry Island parking pass and the no cost paper ticket.

Most of Cherry Island fields are easily accessible from the drop off zone however if a spectator has severe mobility issues and needs transport to a remote field please check with Cup Staff at the headquarters tent. Very limited golf cart transport is available.
