OSPREY LONDON

OSPREY LONDON, the English luxury leather brand, invited us to design and build their new outlet enterprise. While most outlet owners typically invest the bare minimum in store design, for OSPREY LONDON it was essential to provide a premium retail experience.

The store design captures the interplay of an English formal style with something warmer, quirkier and individual, which is the essence of the OSPREY LONDON style.

"JSA have an outstanding track record in retail design and build. They understand that time is money and that any store fit out has to be completed and operating in the shortest time possible, with quality turn-out and minimum disruption." Graeme Ellisdon, Managing Director OSPREY LONDON

Living in Store

We were appointed by business woman Sally Abram to develop a new interior concept for her lifestyle store “Living in Store”, which was launched in a Grade II listed building in Marlow. The aim was to bring together an eclectic mix of beautiful products, from furniture and fabrics to gifts and even food, in an exclusive yet simple environment.

The ten week project entailed complete interior and exterior renovation of the building, including the construction of a

new shop front and conservatory to the rear. The fit out was undertaken to exacting standards and included mechanical and electrical works, joinery works, hard and soft flooring, decorations and bespoke manufactured fixtures and fittings.

“I have been thrilled with the involvement of JSA throughout our project. Their work has been thorough and yet personal at every stage and most importantly I have felt in very safe hands with any issues or complications

being dealt with in an efficient and professional manner. They have successfully interpreted my vision and brought it to reality offering their advice and expertise if needed. The staff are all lovely from the receptionist to the designers and project managers. Thank you JSA.”

M&Co Fashion Concept Store

Signalling M&Co’s continued drive to become the first choice UK fashion value brand, M&Co invited JSA to design a new 3,000sq ft concept store, situated in Green Lanes Shopping Centre, Barnstaple.

The creation of a younger ambience throughout the store was achieved through the choice of rich purple and deep turquoise tones with hints of sparkling metallics. This was complimented by a mixture of solid ironwood timber, stunning creamy ceramic, textured papers, luxurious silks and buttoned upholstery.

Focal points draw people through the store and produce a relatively clean and minimal feel. The perimeter walls, clad in white high gloss panels feature a carved undulating wave pattern, with two impact panels providing wonderful visual merchandising opportunities.

Drawing its inspiration from a catwalk, the innovative design of the window beds includes an open section at the back that allows the catwalk to flow into the shop floor, connecting the two areas.

This is echoed towards the back of the store with a curved stage leading into the fitting room area.

"We have worked with JSA for a few years now and the challenge this time was to create a shop environment that would attract a customer '10 years younger' and who avidly follows fashion. I think they have done an exceptional job. Our shoppers are already 8 years younger and the new-look stores are certainly creating a stir!" Andrew McGeoch, Director of Marketing & Business Development.

M&Co Clothing and Homeware Stores

Established in 1834, M&Co is one of the country's largest privately-owned retailers in the UK, operating 300 value clothing and homeware stores across the UK.

Selected to expand and redesign its portfolio of existing and newly acquired stores, our task was to develop a series of distinct and inspirational store components that could be employed to refresh the brand’s existing concept.

It was essential for the design to allow for evolution so that it could be easily translated across all the store sizes, with theatre and excitement being incorporated within the retailer's top stores.

Tree View Cafe

As part of our ongoing work with the independent department store Barkers in Northallerton, we were asked to re-brand the food service offer within their hugely successful furniture store. The project included the creation of a brand name and identity, as well as the design and build of the interior.

Located on the first floor "Tree View" provides a stylish and chic destination, drawing its inspiration from its tree top outlook. The concept combines bright tropical colours with soft beige and warm timbers. A mixed seating combination of soft armchairs and leather dining chairs offers the customer a relaxed and inviting atmosphere.

"JSA has created another truly unique concept for us which has been very well received. Our customers love it! We now have a really good increase in sales and footfall within the store."

Barbours Dumfries – Menswear

After completing works to the ladies’ fashion department for Barbours Dumfries a few years back, we were commissioned to design and fit out their Menswear formal and Young Fashion areas, giving both departments a different concept ambience.

Young Fashion was designed with the idea of creating a ‘Street’ feel. This effect was created using solid timber cladding to the walls and columns, concrete effect coverings running up the sides of walls and onto the ceiling in designated areas, together with mild steel hanging rails and freestanding perimeter bays.

The industrial look was further enhanced with secondary layers of ‘Graffiti’ graphics and bright orange fitting rooms.

Menswear formal was designed with a more traditional approach, using a palette of dark grey edging detail and soft white perimeter panels.

Long Tall Sally

We worked with the multi-channel retailer of fashion for taller women to redevelop an existing store concept.

The interior is an elegant yet contemporary design with a palette of materials that includes limestone, lavish wall

coverings, matt chrome fixturing and specialist laminates, all of which ensures powerful brand development.

"This is the first time we have worked with JSA, yet they interpreted and developed the existing design concept with great understanding and practicality. We

are delighted with the finished result, which was delivered on time, on budget and with the minimum of fuss – their professional team is a pleasure to deal with and we would not hesitate to recommend them."

Chosen by the Yorkshire indie department store group Browns to work on the retail design of its third store in Beverley, East Yorkshire, our brief was to transform the town’s former Picture Playhouse into an upmarket family-owned department store.

The faded excess of a bygone era was stripped away transforming the two-storey 12,000 sq ft building into a

light and airy destination, resplendent with the high-quality fixtures and fittings of a twenty-first century store.

The store’s interior is fresh and contemporary, with personality and individuality being added through subtle approaches in materials, fixturing and merchandising. New departments include Ladies Fashion, Lingerie,

Cosmetics, Shoes, Handbags and Accessories together with a seventy four seater restaurant.

“We’re delighted with the results that JSA have achieved with the store design, and in addition trade is also well ahead of sales targets and expectations.”

JSA was asked by Glasswells to transform a 37,000 sq ft former Courts furniture store into a new 73,000 sq ft furniture retail showroom. The seventies style existing building has received a complete facelift with the addition of a new retail mezzanine floor.

New customer facilities include a design centre offering valuable advice on colours and product co-ordination, a table-service restaurant, a meeting room available for up to twelve people and a children’s ‘Playzone’.

“The challenge was to ensure a distinct and inviting look whilst delivering a practical, cost-effective outcome. JSA fulfilled our brief commendably.”

Paul Glasswell, Managing Director

Glasswells Ipswich

Our relationship with Blacks started in 2008 when we were appointed to work on the new Millets store contract. Following on from the success of this project we were selected to undertake the rapid fit-out of the new Blacks “Cool Air” format all over the UK, including flagship stores in Birmingham, Belfast, Glasgow and Manchester.

The accelerated Blacks roll out meant that we could go from the initial notification of a project to on-site within just a few weeks. Each site presented a different challenge, ranging from major structural works to strategic planning and procurement to hit tight deadlines.

“Despite the lack of both lead-in and construction time, JSA were well organised and performed admirably in every department, ensuring that all sites were handed over to the retail team on time. They provided an excellent service and we hope to use them again on future projects.” David Smith, Blacks Leisure Shop Fitting Co-ordinator.
