District ProjectAs most of you know the Pacific Northwest district project is KCCP, Kiwanis Children’s

Cancer Program. All of the Kiwanis family will be working together to do various things tohelp the children suffering from pediatrics cancer. We all will be doing our best to raise asmuch money as we can to help fund the research for a cure, there is no set goal on howmuch we will strive to make, we will all just raise and give as much as we can because noone knows how much it will cost to find a cure for pediatric cancer. Besides raising money,we will also be supporting the children in the hospitals by making trauma dolls, fleeceblankets, cards and anything else that will help the children through this difficult time intheir life. The hospital that we will be supporting is Seattle Children’s Teaching and ResearchHospital. Each division has been given the opportunity to come up with their own way tosupport KCCP and division 38 has decided to design and sell rubber wristbands, please cometo the next DCM where we will be finalizing some of our ideas.

International Projects

Key Club International has chosen three service organizations to partner upwith and help. This first is the Eliminate project. Many women are losing their newborn babies to maternal/neonatal tetanus. This disease destroys families; as soon asthe babies are born they are separated from their mothers because the touch ofanything including light will hurt them, a week later the babies pass away. Thetreatment for this disease is only $1.80, which is less expensive than most coffees.Key club will be working with Uniceft to raise money to help these families.

Our other service partner is the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Theyhelp support families and treat children with any kind of ailment from broken bonesto any and all diseases. They help families first and think about money second, which is amazing for families with financial problems.

Our last partner is the March of Dimes project. This is a walk that we takeevery year around downtown Olympia to raise money and awareness forprematurity. Babies are born too soon every day, and the March of Dimes projecthelps support these families affected by prematurity and help assure that the babiesgrow up happy.
