JSS Medical College Alumni Association was started with the following objectives
To encourage, promote and foster the fellow feelings among the present and
old students of JSS Medical College.
To promote, organize and facilitate conferences, seminars and lectures,
training and other similar activities in further once of the above said
objectives.
To do all such things, acts and functions that directly or indirectly help in the
attainment of the objectives of the Association.
Currently Alumni Association has 6062 members.
First alumni meeting was held on 26th April 2005, where it was decided to establish
JSS Medical College Association.
JSS Medical College Alumni Association was officially registered on 20th June
2013 under Karnataka Societies Registration Act.
The Alumni Association is making all the efforts to bring together the Alumni of
JSS Medical College under one roof to and serve as a platform to meet and interact
with each other. Alumni association conducts Alumni meet once in two years in
the month of December, where the teachers and other support staff who made us
will be felicitated. This Alumni meet will also provide a chance to catch up with
classmates, seniors, teachers and many sweet old memories while enjoying an
informative presentation on topics of interest to working professionals.
Source of funds for Alumni activities is raised by collecting membership fees from
the members and donation received from the members.

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION ACTIVITIES
I- Alumni Association Global Reunion held on 16th & 17th of Dec 2011
The first JSS Medical College Alumni Association Global Reunion was held on 16th & 17th of Dec 2011.
It was held with three main objectives.
1. To pay tribute to our Institution.
2. To pay tribute to our teachers. 3. To rejoice the nostalgic memories of student days.
On 16th Dec 2011, Former Principals and Former Head of the
Departments were felicitated on this occasion.
Former Principal’s who were honoured on the occasion were, Dr. A.Subba Rao, Dr.Munirathnam Chetty, Dr.M.S.Anantharaju and
Dr.R.Veerabahu, Former Prof & HOD’s Dr.J.S.Hegde, Dr.Manikyaraju, Dr.Xavier Ignatius and Dr.Rajendra were honoured.
Sri.B.N.Betkerur, Pro-Chancellor, JSS University, delivered the
Presidential address and recollected his association with Former Principal’s and Professors of this College.
The evening was very colourful with golden melodies from
Dr.P.A.Kushalappa and team.
On 17th December 2011, the foundation stone for the JSS Medical College Amenity Centre was unveiled by His Holiness Swamiji.
Dr.H.Basavana Gowdappa, Principal, gave a presentation on the “Success Story of JSS Medical College & Hospital”.
Several Alumni like Dr.Sanjeev Bhoi, Dr.C.R.Chandrashekar,
Dr.Aiyappa, Dr.Veena Bhat, and others expressed their views and experiences about the college days. They expressed their gratitude
to the institution. They recollected the joyous and hilarious moments of their student life.
Some of the alumni donated generously to the construction of amenity centre. Dr.Siow Kim Yoon, donated Rs. 60,000 and many of
the alumni announced the donation for this cause. Dr.Vikram.S.B., President of the Alumni Association spoke about his association
with the Institute. He made an emotional appeal to all the alumni to contribute generously to this good cause and to keep in touch with
their mother institution.
H.H.Swamiji delivered the benediction; he expressed happiness about the positive views voiced by the alumni, not taking into
account minor deficiencies. He recollected the days when our hospital was started in a small place and how the new Hospital
came into existence. He mentioned about the new state of the art 1650 bedded Hospital which is being built adjacent to the existing
hospital and will be opened in 3-4 months. In a lighter vein Swamiji commented about how priorities change in
life, in response to one of the Alumni’s wish to admit his daughter to MBBS course in our College. Initially as students their priority
was to pass MBBS and later on to do Post Graduation, now our own students are talking about admitting their children to our college.
Dr.Mruthyunjaya P.Kulenur, Registrar, JSS University, Mysore, was
present on this occasion.
II - JSS Medical College Alumni CME & Meet - 02 on 21st December 2013
JSS Medical College, Mysore a constituent college of JSS University Mysore had
organized, global alumni meet on 21st December 2013, at Sri Rajendra auditorium,
JSS medical college, Mysore.
On this occasion, Dr .Col.RK Chaturvedi , Director, JSS hospital, Mysore , and
Member of Medical council of India was honoured with the oration award.
Dr. K Manjunath Shenoy, Chairman, Academic Society of JSS Medical College
formally welcomed the gathering. Sri. B N Betkerur, Executive Secretary, JSS
Mahavidyapeetha, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp with other
dignitaries. In his inaugural address he mentioned that, the hard work and
commitments put across by Dr. Vivek Jawali has helped him to reach the heights in
the field of cardiac surgery.
Dr. H Basavanagowdappa Principal, JSS Medical College, in his introductory
speech to the oration, remembered contributions of HH Jagadguru Dr. Sri
Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji to the field of education and health care. He
also described the origin and functions of academic society in JSS Medical college.
Dr. Nagaraj Desai, Professor of cardiothoracic surgery at JSS hospital delivered
citation address. This was followed by delivering oration award and felicitation of
Dr. Vivek Jawali.
Delivering the oration address on the topic, “AWAKE (non intubated) cardiac
surgeries on cardio-pulmonary bypass (CPB) or without CPB”, Dr. Vivek
Jawali, gave an overview and status of cardiothoracic surgeries across the world
and its relevance to India. He deliberated on the shortfalls in classical invasive
cardiothoracic surgeries conducted under general anaesthesia and benefits of
minimally invasive cardiac surgeries performed under epidural anaesthesia, where
the patient remains awake throughout the procedure. He explained that such
surgeries will phenomenally reduce the time required for recovery following
surgeries and its highest rate of success. He opined that such technologies may
start an era of day care cardiac surgeries in India. Dr. Jawali called upon the young
medical students and faculties to take up this challenging speciality of
cardiothoracic surgery as their profession.
He said that by next year there will be new course (Integrated MCh) where in
students can join after MBBS and it is of six years duration.
Dr. Nagaraj Desai and Dr. Umesh Nareppa, cardiothoracic surgeons from JSS
Hospital chaired the session.
Oration speech was followed by an interactive session where Dr. Vivek Javwali
answered various questions asked by the participants. Dr. R K Chaturvedi, Director
of JSS hospital has mentioned that the new JSS super speciality hospital will be
equipped to cater the need of advanced cardiac care.
Guest lecture was organised on financial management for Doctors By Mr.
Shabhareeshan .MBA and on “Spirituality in stress management for doctors”
Srimath Swami Japanandaji Maharaj Swami Vivekananda Integrated Rural Health
Centre, Pavagada. Lastly a talk was arranged on Humor in Medicine by Prof.
Krishnegowda, St.Philomena’s College. Mysore.
Dr. P A Kushalappa, Director (academics), JSS University was also present on
this occasion. Dr.Chandrakanth HV , Vice president of alumni association
delivered vote of thanks. Dr.Sarika Shetty and Dr.Suchita compared the event.
Miss Radhika, medical student delivered invocation. Undergraduate, post
graduates, faculty members, Alumni’s of JSS Medical College witnessed the event.

III- THIRD ALUMNI MEET OF JSS MEDICAL COLLEGE
On 12th December 2015, the third JSS Medical College Alumni meet was held in JSS Medical College, Mysuru at Sri Rajendra
Auditorium.
The inaugural function began with rendering respects to the 23rd Pontiff of Sri Suttur Math HH Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri
Rajendra Mahaswamiji, & seeking blessings of H.H. Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.
Initially, a few minutes of silence was observed in respect to the
departed souls of Dr.C.S.Rupakumar (Prof. & HOD, Dept of Orthopaedics), Dr.K.H. Basavaraju (Prof, Dermatology),
Dr.M.Shivanna (a first batch student of JSSMC) & Sri Basavaraju (Driver).
Dr. Kalabharathi prayed Lord Ganesha in her invocation.
Dr.D.S.Vijayakumar, Vice- President, Alumni Association welcomed
the gathering, Chief Guest Dr. H. Basavana Gowdappa, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, JSS University lighted the lamp with other
dignitaries on the dias and he spoke on the importance of an active Alumni Association.
Dr. T.N.Chandrashekar, Director, Chamarajanagar Institute of
Medical Sciences & President, Alumni Association, spoke on the present scenario of medical colleges & remembered the initial days
of JSSMC.
Dr. G. Prakash, Secretary, JSSMC Alumni Association spoke on the works & plans of JSSMC Alumni association.

He in his presidential address said that an active Alumni Association in an Institution is a must to get feedback from students and that an alumnus could frankly opine regarding quality
of teaching. He also remarked that alumni were the brand ambassadors of their institution all over the World.

IV- A Thees saal badh reunion of 1986-87 batch
A thees saal badh reunion of 1986-87 batch was organised on
2nd December 2016 at Sri Rajendra Auditorium, JSS Medical
College, Mysuru. A total of 155 alumni had attended the
programme of which 20 of them had come from Abroad. 32
teachers and 8 supporting staff were felicitated during the
programme. Then all alumni visited all the departments and hostel
to relive their golden memories. Lunch was arranged to relish the
hostel food on demand by alumni.
Silver jubilee Colossal cluster Fest 92 -93 Reunion
The reunion was held on 5th August 2017, in JSS Medical College at Sri Rajendra
Auditorium. The objective of this reunion was to pay tribute to our institution,
tribute to our teachers and to rejoice the nostalgic memories of student days.
The inaugural function began with rendering respect to HH JagadguruDr Sri
ShivarathriRajendraMahaswamiji and seeking blessings of HH JagadguruSri
ShivarathriDeshikendraMahaswamiji.

Principals), DrGuruswamy (Medical Superintendent, JSSH, Dr Ravi M.D
(Director, JSSH) lighted the lamp with other faculty members on the dias.
Dr. P.A Kushalappa, Director of Academics in his speech said that an active
Alumni Association in an institution is a must to get feedback from students and
that alumnus could frankly opine on the quality of our institution. He also
mentioned that the alumni will be the brand ambassadors of their institution all
over the world. He also mentioned that such alumni meets should be organised
every year so that people can be connected to different parts of the world.
A total of 140 alumni attended the programme, out of which around 25 of them
had come from abroad, 30 teachers were felicitated during this programme.

All the alumni introduced themselves to the faculty and finally our beloved
Principal DrH.Basavanagowdappa addressed the gathering about the importance of
alumni meet and he was also happy that the alumni were well settled in abroad and
doing good job to the society.He also encouraged to have such alumni meets every
year.
A video shoot of various departments, lecture halls and the college campus was
recorded and the alumni visited all the departments and hostel to relive their golden
memories.

Greetings from JSS Medical College Alumni Association!
I am sure, being the proud alumni of JSS Medical College you are doing well and are in
good cheers and spirits.
I have great pleasure to inform & invite you for the ALUMNI MEET 2017 which is
being scheduled on 6th
of January 2018and will be an event for which a lot of us have
been waiting for.
You are all aware that the Alumni Association formed in the year 2013 is making all
the efforts to bring together the Alumni of JSS Medical College under one roof to and
serve as a platform to meet and interact with each other. This Alumni meet will also
provide you the chance to catch up with classmates, seniors, teachers and many sweet
old memories while enjoying an informative presentation on topics of interest to
working professionals.
The Association is also identifying the alumni who have contributed and are
contributing to the society in one way or another and recognise their services, by
felicitating them. I am sure, many of you are all settled and are working and
contributing in your own way and style for the benefit of the people and society in
particular.
In this regard, the Association has planned to hold its Alumni meet on 06/01/2018.
Details of the meet and other things will be provided to you shortly. Meantime, the
Alumni Association invites suitable nominations from the Alumni who are serving in
different parts of the globe, so that services can be recognized for the information of the
public. As an Alumnus, you can also nominate other alumni for the same. The
nominations with detail CV may please be sent to the email [email protected]. At
the moment, we are in the process of chalking out the finer details of the programme.

Welcome Address:
Welcome Address was delivered by Dr.S.P.Dhanapal, Principal, JSS College of Pharmacy, and Ooty. He
invited the chief guest of the function Prof. K. Chinnaswamy, President Tamil Nadu Pharmacy Council
and JSS Alumni’s for the 3rd JSSCP Ooty JSS Alumni’s Meet-2016.
During his talk he addressed,
The importance of Alumni Association and increasing its Alumni’s membership level.
He insisted the alumni’s to provide their suggestions and feedbacks to improve the functionality
of JSSCP Ooty Alumni Association.
He also addressed that JSSCP Ooty Alumni Association was registered under the provision of
Tamilnadu.
Opening Remarks:
Opening Remarks was delivered by Dr.K.Elango, Professor, and Alumni Association President .He
deliberated the progress of the alumni association and the last alumnus meets which was conducted at
Yercaud and Chennai.

During his talk he addressed the review of the previous meeting,
Requested for Separate JSSCP, Ooty Alumni’s Account from the JSS University Portal to show our
uniqueness and identity.
In the last meet it was decided that collected funds distribution will be (30% to the JSS
University and 70% to the Alumni Association) based on the governing body decisions.
He informed that Currently 25,000 Rupees remains in the Alumni association Account.
He requested the alumni’s to make their registration with www.jsscpooty.org and increasing the
membership by inviting other Alumna’s/ Alumnus’s.
He informed that official Face book Page will be formed and Alumni’s can use that page for
further discussions and for the official notifications purpose.
Alumni’s funds will be collected and it will be accounted under Alumni Association. In future
funds will be collected from interested alumni’s during the upcoming GB meetings.
In future CME programs will be organized behalf of JSSCP Ooty Alumni Association to improve
and update knowledge of members.
Periodic JSSCP Ooty Alumni Association Bulletin will be released to know the status of
association and its progress.
District wise Alumni’s Coordinator will be identified for the effective communication and
coordination of other fraternities.
It was decided to conduct the Executive Meet first then followed by Alumni Meet on the same
day.
He addressed that 40 % of the Alumni’s are working under Public Sector and they need to be
communicated about the JSSCP Ooty Alumni Association and Its membership.
It was decided to provide individual ID card for all alumni’s
Meeting agenda and timings schedule will be forwarded to all the alumni’s priory.
He stated that constructing a building for Alumni association also under consideration.
Chief Guest Talk
Prof. K. Chinnaswamy President Tamil Nadu Pharmacy Council given his guest speech on two major
areas,
Bridge courses for Diploma Holders
Tamil Nadu Pharmacy Council Election
Bridge Course for Diploma Holders
Prof. K.Chinnaswamy informed that Tamilnadu Pharmacy Council with the support of PCI will be
introducing the bridge courses for Diploma holders to increase their standards and opportunities.

It’s a PCI approved for course for 2 years, from each college 20 students will be enrolled based on their
applicant’s status and their seniority level. Courses will be conducted on monthly basis probably on 2nd
Saturday and Sunday from July 2016.
Bridge courses will be started from July 2016 and it will be implemented across all Tamilnadu pharmacy
colleges under the supervision and State Pharmacy council and PCI.
He also insisted to convey this message to all pharmacy professionals to make use of this opportunity.
Tamilnadu Pharmacy Council Election
He informed to alumni’s that Tamil Nadu Pharmacy Council election will be scheduled on 4th July 2016
and he requested all the pharmacy professionals to actively participate in electing an efficient candidate
for presidential post after his retirement to lead the Tamil Nadu Pharmacy Council in future.
He stated that salary for the Community Pharmacist will be revised by the government. He also stated
about improving the quality of community pharmacist, professionalism and other social responsibilities.
Prof. K.Chinnaswamy informed that Tamil Nadu Pharmacy Council proud to introduce the online
pharmacist license renewal portal for the benefit of members; he stated that members can directly
upload their documents and payments through online to renew their pharmacist license and
acknowledgement will be sent to the members through courier after their successful renewal process on
that Tamil Nadu Pharmacy Council portal.
Feedback/Discussion Session
During the Feedback/Discussion session the following points were addressed by the Alumni’s and
Executive members of JSSCP Ooty Alumni Association.
One of the Alumni requested for proper communication from JSSCP Ooty Alumni Association
It was decided that September 2016 (Last Sunday) will be conducting the next GB meeting.
One of the Alumni requested for accommodation faculties and concession for alumni members.
Principal requested for a Full time working Pharmacist for the JSS Health center.
One of our Alumni requested that Pharmacist Services should be included under Healthcare
Services like other Nursing/Surgeon Professionals and Dr. Elango stated that this information
will be forwarded to Vice chancellor Dr.B.Suresh for review.
One of our alumni suggested that our alumni’s can take in charge (district wise) to refer the
candidates and to fill the vacancy from various department of JSSCP Ooty. He also requested to
provide the invitation brochures to pass the message in their respective areas.
Dr.V.Senthil, Professor stated that Alumni Award should be included for the best achievers.
One of our alumni stated that our Association should take a step on controlling the fake
cerfication programs offered by some of pharmacy education institutions.

Dr.K.P Arun Assistant Professor informed about the Online CME programs offered by our
institution and he requested all the members to actively participate. He stated that first Online
CME is planned on April 16th 2016.

Minutes of the Meet- Alumni 2017
Welcome Address was given by Dr.K.Elango, HOD Department of Pharmacology and he
invited all the alumni’s who were participated in the event. During his talk he addressed
the followings,
Importance of Alumni Association and its role.
Need of Alumni’s Support during NIRF, ACPE and other certification programs.
He requested for Alumni’s inputs and suggestions for improving the Alumni
Association functionality and its productivity.
Alumni’s were introduced themselves and all the participants Name, Address, Contact
Number, Email ID and other Communication details were collected.
Followed by Dr. V.Senthil requested the members for opening remarks, Mr.Satish,
Director, Tablets India Pvt Ltd and othet Alumni members delivered the followings,
Need to fix a Permanent date for upcoming Alumni Meetings.
College Alumni Association and its meetings should be advertised in magazines and
Social Medias.
Alumni Meet Should not be clubbed with College day Celebrations.
Need to identify an Alumni/Student as Batch a coordinator for making effective
communication and for gathering information’s.
Contact details like Phone No, Email and other details should be collected from all
the alumni’s and if any barriers that should be addressed.
Mr. Venkatachalam, vice-president, requested to conduct various get together
alumni meetings within their regions to unite the Alumni’s.
Followed by Dr.V.Senthil stated that Mr. Venkatachalam request will be forwarded
to Principal Dr.Dhanapal for approval.
Dr.G.K.Sadagoban Suggested for developing Google Forms for Collecting Alumni
Information. He also suggested to use college SMS facilities to invite the alumni for
the upcoming meets.
During IPC meets JSSCP-Ooty Alumni Activities and Upcoming Alumni Meet related
information should be shared within the Alumni’s.
Alumni Meet -Advertisements should be made in Newspapers, Newsletters and
etc.
Students-Alumni Mentorship Program should be initiated.
JSS Alumni Association Facebook Page should be made and other JSSCP OOTY
related Facebook Pages should be closed to channelize the Alumni’s.
Mr.Sathish quoted that Alumni Association Funds should be increased to meet the
upcoming financial tasks. So he suggested to collect Rs 1000 donations from the
existing alumni members.
He also mentioned that we should have a separate portal and Alumni bank Account
for collecting Membership/Donation amounts.
Thanks note was delivered by Dr.V .Senthil and he thanked all the participants for
attending the program and he also stated that all the alumni’s shall pass the messages
to their Batch mates about the Alumni Associations and its related meetings.

To organize and establish scholarship funds to help the needy and deserving

To institute prizes and awards to deserving students of the institute
To recognize outstanding social and community service by the alumni and the
students.

IIIrd ALUMNI EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING (1-06-2015, Sunday)

Dr. Elango, secretory-Alumni Association welcomed the gathering.
Dr. Arun briefed regarding the minutes of the previous Executive council
in chennai.
The inputs from the members invited.
Dr. Shami Shanmugam has adopted a student from the Educational
Association.
Dr. Shami Shanmugam has accepted to give Rs. 50,000/- to Endorsement
fund, he has accepted to give Rs. 50,000/- through the company.
Mr Venkatachalam insisted to increase the membership number.
Information about all the events of the college need to be sent to all the
alumni members.
Facebook information needs to be messaged to all the members of
alumni association.
Fund can be raised voluntarily.
Dr SP Dhanabal, Principal:
The passed out students need not pay any registration fee.
During the General Body Meeting we can voluntarily ask the members to
contribute.
Hard copy will be sent to individual alumni.
Next Executive Council meeting will be on 23rd November Sunday at
Valparai.
Mr. Nazeer will be co-ordinating.
MADHIAZHAGAN, Member:

40% of Government Pharmacist are from JSS.
Invariably to all Public Health Community and Government Hospital we
can send information.
During the alumni day some cultural programme should be arranged.
Group wise meeting.
Maximum number of members will get prizes.
ARUNAGIRI:
To attract more number of members.
Agenda of the meeting should be sent.
One Executive Council meeting to be conducted one day before the
General Body Meeting.
During the alumni meet, only Hall and lunch will be bared by the Alumni
Association.
G.VENKATESAN AND VENKATACHALAM:
Contribution to the college as building fund can be raised either
within the premises or outside the premises.
SECRETARY:
President, Gopal and Treasurer has expressed his inability to
come for General Body Meeting.
VENKATACHALAM:
Photos need to be updated and live recording of the General
Body Meeting must be ensured.
