Failure Investigation – FEA of Car Body Traction Rod Fitted with Centre Pivot in HHP LocomotiveWestern Railway has reported that car-body traction rod to the max. permissible stress and the behavior of stress is

failed on line of Loco no 12705 (SBI) as shown in figure. RDSO tensile stress at failure zone. Therefore, it is concluded that it is studied the problem and not a design developed a 3D solid problem and it model of carbody traction may due to rod. FEA is carried out improper welding with the applicable radius etc. Needle maximum tractive force peen finished (2G Load case) at car w e l d m a y body traction rod. It is improve the weld observed that the stress quality as per the found in concerned area requirement of the is very less as compared EMD drawing no.40122500 (CARBODY ROD ASM).

Design of Wider Sleeper Using More Concrete & Less Steel for 25t Axle Load

Inspection of Bhanwartonk DN Tunnel Between Khodri-Khongsara Station of Bilaspur-Katni Section, South East Central Railway

Wide sleeper using more concrete & less steel is being Initial Testing and trials of concrete sleeper with top rail developed by RDSO to increase width and weight providing seat width of 230mm (against existing 150mm) and 300 mm higher frame resistance against buckling, chances of reducing bottom width (against 250mm in existing sleeper)and 12 de-stressing temperature with likely reduction in rail/weld wires(against 20 wires) have been carried out. Based on the failures and to increase rail seat area results in higher rubber pad testing results and analysis done thereafter new designs with the life. Wide sleeper will have reduced ballast pressure leading to same dimensions but with 14 wires now are being developed. reduction in ballast pulverization, deep screening cycle & Once these are developed then they will cater upto 25T axle

load operations.enhanced drainage.
