Judge Dale Smack named Worcester County Orphan’s Court Chief Judge John (Dale) Smack III of Snow Hill, MD was recently ap- pointed as the Chief Judge for the Worcester County Orphans’ Court by Governor Larry Hogan. Smack, 48, is serving in his third term as an Orphans’ Court Judge and re- ceived the most votes of all the candidates for the three posts in the November 2014 general election. He was recently elected President of the MD Asso- ciation of Judges of the Orphans’ Court. Last year the Chief Judge of the MD Court of Appeals ap- pointed Judge Smack as a member of the Conference of Or- phans’ Court Judges and he contin- ues to serve in that position. He is also a 27-year veteran of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and serves as the Chief Deputy Sheriff. Tonya Pritchett elected to the Trappe council African American Tonya Pritchett was elected to the Trappe, MD town council with 48% of the votes; the second highest of the three elected out of the four who ran. She replaces Walter Chase, who was the first African American to be elected to the council. His term had expired and he could not run again. Pritchett will serve for a four- year term on the council. Del. Sample-Hughes opens office & represents First year State Delegate Sheree Sample-Hughes has been busy. Along with a grueling freshman orientation to the Legislature and the first leg- islative session under Maryland’s new governor, she has implemented commu- nity meetings with her Dorchester and Wicomico County constituents, opened an office at 113 Baptist St. in Salisbury, and represented District 37A at sever- al events.
